Chapter 13 Someone Sabotaged The Treatment

  • I decided to ignore Fabian for the time being and let out a sigh as I walked toward the side of the bed.
  • On the bed was a woman who looked as beautiful as Bethany, if not prettier.
  • However, she had been reduced to skin and bones and looked particularly frail.
  • I made my way around the bed and noticed something off about Ms. Neal's body, but I kept my observation to myself and asked Bruce, “Mr. Neal, how much did you pay Fabian to look after Ms. Neal?”
  • “I didn't help Mr. Neal out for the money! He and I are close, so his affairs are as good as mine!” Fabian instantly clarified.
  • Bruce turned toward Fabian and said gratefully, “Thank you for looking after my daughter throughout the past six months.”
  • “You didn't charge him at all? In that case, you deserve what's coming to you, Fabian!”
  • “You... What the f*ck are you talking about?” Fabian yelled angrily.
  • Bruce, too, was a little displeased when he heard that. “What do you mean by that?”
  • I ignored him and turned toward Calvin as I continued, “There was nothing wrong with your treatment method, Professor Harrison.”
  • Calvin gasped in shock when he heard that. “Huh? Then why didn't Ms. Neal regain consciousness? Also, why did her condition worsen instead?”
  • “Because someone sabotaged it by burying a fine needle deep within her central nervous system, which put pressure on the surface of her brain. Anyone who tries to treat her without knowing about the needle would only push it deeper into her brain, and that could be fatal!” I explained.
  • Fabian grew pale and broke out in a cold sweat when he heard that.
  • The look on Bruce's face changed as well. He then shot Fabian a suspicious glance as he thought about the situation.
  • Fabian was the only one who came into frequent contact with his daughter throughout the past six months, so it was definitely him who did it.
  • “H-Hey! Don't you try to frame me with such baseless accusations! I've been the only one treating her all this while! Are you implying that I'm the one who buried that needle in her brain?”
  • “Be patient, will you? The truth will be revealed in a second!” I said while making my way toward Ms. Neal.
  • I placed my fingertip on her forehead and concentrated my divine power while tracing the shape of a circle. As though something beneath the skin was about to pop out, a small bump then appeared in the middle of that circle.
  • I continued tracing my finger around in circles while focusing my divine power on the needle inside her forehead.
  • The entire process took less than thirty seconds.
  • As I slowly pulled at the needle using my divine power, a small bloody spot formed on Ms. Neal's forehead, and the tip of a silver needle slowly emerged.
  • Following that, I reached out and pinched the silver needle before gently pulling it out.
  • The silver needle was only about a centimeter in length.
  • Bruce quickly stepped forward and exclaimed anxiously when he saw the silver needle in my hand. “I-Is this silver needle the one that has been pressing against her nervous system?”
  • “Yes, it is!” I replied with a nod.
  • Bruce immediately shifted his gaze toward Fabian, who panicked and desperately tried to explain himself. “I-I didn't leave that in her head! It's not like the needle has my name written on it or anything!”
  • “Oh, don't worry! We'll find out who did it in a bit!” I said calmly.
  • Fabian had fear written all over his face, but he protested anyway, “You... Don't you dare frame me for this!”
  • I ignored him and channeled my divine power into my palm before placing it over Ms. Neal's chest, only to gasp in shock when I felt how soft her breasts were.
  • For someone so skinny, her breasts sure are huge!
  • As I continued to press my palm firmly on Ms. Neal's chest, I made sure to observe Bruce's expression.
  • When I saw that he simply frowned at me and didn't try to stop me, I breathed a sigh of relief.
  • In truth, I wasn't trying to take advantage of Ms. Neal or anything. I had to place my palm on her chest in order to activate the vitality in her heart with my divine power.
  • The best way to do that would be to transfer the divine power into her body orally, but I knew Bruce would never allow me to do such a thing.
  • After the process was complete, I patted Ms. Neal on the forehead and whispered, “Awaken!”
  • With everyone watching, Ms. Neal's eyelids twitched slightly in response. Just like that, she opened her eyes after being unconscious for over a year.
  • A huge commotion broke out among the crowd as Bruce ran up to the bed with tears in his eyes.
  • It would seem that he truly loved his daughter very much.
  • After all, she was his only daughter, so that made her the only person he could count on to look after him in the future.
  • Since she had been in a coma for over a year, one could only imagine how Bruce felt when she finally woke up.
  • “Brynley! Y-You're finally awake!” Bruce sobbed.
  • The woman named Brynley glanced about her in confusion as she mumbled weakly, “Dad...”
  • Bruce's tears came flowing out the moment he heard that. “I've dreamed of that word almost every night throughout this past year! I can't believe I finally got to hear it again today!”
  • That was when Fabian, whom I had been keeping an eye on this whole time, made his move.
  • Fabian channeled some magic power into his fingers and swung his right arm forward, sending three silver needles flying straight at Brynley.
