Chapter 7 Hades Sect

  • From what Asher knew, Nieva was not a fan of beating around the bush. It was always better to speak straightforwardly with her.
  • “Asher, as Timothy already said last time, we at Divine Sword Sect will handle matters concerning Maverick. You should focus on your cultivation! Strive to inherit Maverick's mantle sooner so others won't covet it. You shouldn't concern yourself with anything else,” replied Nieva.
  • “Ms. Frost, you've misunderstood! I merely wish to know the identity of the enemy, not planning to do anything rash. Given my current abilities, there's not much I can do anyway. As the sole disciple of my master, I believe I have the right to know who we are up against. This knowledge will serve as a constant motivation for me to strive harder. I beseech you to enlighten me.” Asher pleaded earnestly.
  • Upon hearing those words, Nieva fell silent for a moment.
  • After some consideration, she believed that Asher was right.
  • Maverick had only one disciple whom he had raised from childhood. Their relationship was not just that of a master and disciple but also that of a father and son, so telling him wouldn't harm him.
  • Once she had figured things out, Nieva said, “Asher, I can share this with you, but you must keep it to yourself. After all, this is a secret of Divine Sword Sect. I'm only telling you this because you're the sole disciple of Maverick.”
  • “Rest assured, Ms. Frost! I, Asher, will definitely keep my lips sealed. Not a word about this will be leaked.” Asher assured eagerly, his heart filled with joy.
  • “The one who harmed your master was from Hades Sect!”
  • “Hades Sect? Is this sect really powerful?” Asher asked, puzzled.
  • He had never heard of the sect before.
  • Of course, there were reasons for his ignorance and seclusion. After all, ever since he was brought into Divine Sword Sect by Maverick, he seldom left. His understanding of the outside world was pitifully limited.
  • The limited, major factions he did hear about were from Maverick, who would occasionally mention them.
  • As such, if there was a sect he had never heard of before, it meant the sect wasn't one of the most powerful ones in Lushtopia.
  • Asher couldn't believe an unknown sect had the gall to provoke Divine Sword Sect.
  • “Hades Sect isn't considered powerful,” replied Nieva.
  • “How could they dare to offend Divine Sword Sect?” Asher's tone was thick with disbelief.
  • After all, Divine Sword Sect was one of the Four Great Forces in Lushtopia.
  • “In the past, Hades Sect wouldn't have dared to do such a thing. However, with the backing of Supreme Demon Sect, they've grown bold,” Nieva explained. “Jayden and Zayn went to Hades Sect to avenge your master and reclaim the Honor Sword. However, they were ambushed by Dalton Coffey, the first elder of Supreme Demon Sect, on the way there. They couldn't reach Hades Sect and had to return to seek advice from Timothy.”
  • I see! Asher nodded. I know about Supreme Demon Sect. Master introduced it to me before. Supreme Demon Sect and Divine Sword Sect are among the most elite factions in Lushtopia. Furthermore, the two sects are archenemies, constantly involved in minor skirmishes. With such powerful backing, no wonder Hades Sect dares to wound my master grievously.
  • “Thank you for letting me know, Ms. Frost!” Asher expressed his gratitude.
  • “Asher, Maverick has placed great expectations on you, given you're his only disciple. Although your natural talent may not be exceptional, in our world of cultivation, talent isn't the sole determining factor. As the saying goes, ineptitude can be remedied by diligence. If you can devote all your attention to cultivation in the future, it's not impossible for you to inherit Maverick's Honor Sword and Solitude Peak. Otherwise, given Maverick's current condition, it won't be long before the sword and the peak will have a new master.”
  • Nieva's words had somewhat flustered Asher, who was usually calm and composed. A new master for Solitude Peak and Honor Sword? No, I won't accept it! They belong to my master only! No one can take them away!
  • “Could you please clarify, Ms. Frost?” Asher respectfully requested, taking a deep breath.
  • “You're aware that Maverick was severely injured during a mission in his early years, which has caused his strength to stagnate ever since. We, his peers, have long since surpassed him. As the master of the Honor Sword, one of the Seven Divine Swords, his current abilities no longer match his status. Lately, many within Divine Sword Sect are coveting the Honor Sword and Solitude Peak. No one has made a move yet because our sect leader has been shouldering the pressure. However, with Maverick grievously injured and the Honor Sword lost, someone is bound to seize this opportunity. You should brace yourself,” answered Nieva.
  • Asher, who adhered to a philosophy of keeping a low profile and just getting by, was not interested in dealing with the sect's political intrigue.
  • However, if anyone dared to touch his master's belongings, he wouldn't stand for it.
  • “I understand now! Thanks, Ms. Frost!” Asher bowed in gratitude once more.
  • “All right! Go back and train hard! Even if you lose the Honor Sword and the Lonely Peak this time, you can reclaim them with your strength in the future. I believe you won't let down Maverick's expectations.” Nieva nodded.
  • Asher had gained detailed information about Hades Sect from Nieva. Upon learning that it was a faction composed of former criminals, he had already formulated a plan in his mind.
