Chapter 13 The Sect Rank

  • Upon hearing Nieva's suggestion to follow the people from Divine Sword Sect into the Spectral Abyss Secret Realm, Asher was momentarily at a loss for words.
  • He was certainly determined to enter the Spectral Abyss Secret Realm.
  • However, he didn't want to join the others from the Divine Sword Sect in entering. It was simply too inconvenient.
  • The age limit for the Spectral Abyss Secret Realm was set under a hundred years, which resulted in the inability of the powerhouses from various factions to enter. Therefore, he thrived within, as if he was in his element.
  • “Ms. Frost, I think I'll pass!” After some consideration, Asher decided to decline.
  • How wonderful it would be if he could move independently.
  • Why bother inviting trouble for himself?
  • To Asher, any disciple of the Divine Sword Sect under a hundred years old was merely a burden.
  • He pondered whether he should save them in case they encountered danger.
  • If he chose to save them, he would likely reveal his true abilities. But could he really just stand by and watch everyone die if he didn't intervene?
  • That was absolutely impossible.
  • After all, he was a member of the Divine Sword Sect.
  • So, it was simply better to adopt the “out of sight, out of mind” approach.
  • Jennifer, who stood to the side, displayed a look of disdain in her eyes.
  • In her view, Asher was not only slovenly, but also a coward, simply a disgrace to the Divine Sword Sect.
  • Nieva hadn't anticipated that Asher would reject her.
  • In her view, given such an opportunity, she expected that Asher would undoubtedly be eager to accept.
  • It seemed she had overestimated him.
  • At first, it was thought that the other party simply lacked talent. Unexpectedly, even their personality turned out to be so timid.
  • One couldn't help but wonder how Maverick ended up accepting such a disciple.
  • “Asher, there's really no need for you to worry so much. Jennifer will be going in as well. Just stick with her, and you should be safe under her protection. You must understand, this is your only shot at turning the tables. If you miss this, it will be tough for you to get another chance. You should still remember what I told you last time, right?” Nieva patiently advised.
  • Naturally, Asher knew what Nieva was referring to.
  • Inside the Divine Sword Sect, many were eyeing for Solitude Peak and Honor Sword.
  • In the past, Timothy had always been there to keep things in check. But now, with him critically injured and on the brink of death, the sect had to dedicate a vast amount of energy to his healing. She feared they wouldn't be able to hold things together for much longer.
  • When the time came, if he wanted to retain Solitude Peak, he would have no choice but to reveal some of his strength.
  • Since that was the case, it was better to enter the Spectral Abyss Secret Realm with the people from the sect.
  • Once inside, he would seize the opportunity to slip away unnoticed. Later, if he subtly revealed some of his abilities, it could serve as a plausible explanation.
  • Moreover, Nieva was only trying to be kind. It would seem rather ungrateful if he kept refusing.
  • With these thoughts in mind, Asher agreed.
  • “Much appreciated, Ms. Frost!” Asher expressed his gratitude with a fist and palm salute.
  • “No need to thank me! You're Maverick's apprentice, and someone I've watched grow up since childhood. All I hope for is that you can protect Solitude Peak, and not let others take it away.”
  • “I won't disappoint, Ms. Frost.”
  • “That's great! Jennifer, in half a month, when you enter the Spectral Abyss Secret Realm, take Asher with you!”
  • “Yes, Master!” Jennifer respectfully responded.
  • Though she was reluctant at heart to bring Asher along, who she considered a burden, she had no choice but to accept it since her master had already made the decision.
  • In Maiden Peak, Nieva's words carried significant weight.
  • “Please take good care of me, Jennifer!”
  • “Asher, you're too polite!”
  • Jennifer dared not treat Asher with disdain in front of Nieva.
  • Even though everyone was a direct disciple, he was still her senior disciple.
  • Seven days later, atop the Principal Peak of the Divine Sky Sword Sect.
  • Thousands had gathered together, a mix of men and women, young and old. They all carried swords three feet long, with some dressed in green robes, while others were in blue.
  • The ones in green were quite young, while the ones in blue were comparatively older.
  • Asher and Jennifer were among them, both donned in green robes.
  • In the Divine Sword Sect, there were rules about dressing, one couldn't simply wear anything.
  • All disciples were to be dressed in green robes regardless of whether you were an outer sect disciple, an inner sect disciple, or a direct disciple. It was all the same.
  • However, in order to distinguish the differences among the three, apart from the characters for “outer”, “inner”, and “direct” imprinted on their chests, there were also variations in their belts.
  • The outer sect disciple wore green robes with matching green belts, while the inner sect disciples donned the same green robes but paired them with yellow belts. As for the direct disciples, they distinguished themselves with green robes and white belts.
  • The blue shirt was worn by the administrators.
  • If an outer sect disciple failed to advance to an inner sect disciple before the age of forty, they would automatically become a third-class administrator.
  • If an inner-sect disciple hadn't advanced to become a direct disciple before they turned fifty, they would automatically become a second-class administrator.
  • The administrators were classified into three ranks, namely third-class, second-class, and first-class administrators. Correspondingly, their power levels were identified as Condensation Stage, Manifestation Stage, and Netherpassage Stage.
  • The number of third-class administrators was the greatest, yet they were the weakest. Although they were referred to as administrators, in reality, they were the ones who took care of all the menial tasks within the Divine Sword Sect. Their status was only slightly higher than that of the outer sect disciples.
  • Being a second-class administrator was significantly better, as they only had to oversee the third-class administrators.
  • As for the first-class administrators, their status was already higher than many of the inner sect disciples.
  • If a first-class administrator managed to break through from the Netherpassage Stage to the Sky Stage, they would undergo an immediate transformation, joining the ranks of the elders. Even an ordinary elder held a status far beyond that of an administrator.
