• I was awakened by Yaseen's call in the early morning, bearing the most grim news that Riense had been finished off by a sniper while in his mother's arms. As I tried to console him, I couldn't help but feel the avoirdupois of my situation with Stradanie pressing down on me.
• We had both been outsmarted and what was worse was that even if we found Biel, we had already lost what was most precious to us. We promised to speak at a later stage, as Yaseen was on his way to Hospaar and I needed to check on Stradanie.
