Chapter 7
- ~Gabriella’s POV~
- I completed my task with Hills Group International at precisely noon on Sunday. I was so exhausted that I packed all of my equipment into the suitcase I typically bring to work on weekends. Because I lacked a larger bag, I opted for a piece of luggage to store my stuff. I hailed a taxi to Mrs. Hills' residence. I was dragged along with my luggage. I approached the gates of a colossal home, much too large for a stand-alone woman. There was a large yard and plenty of space for a toddler to run about. The property had a swimming pool, and the mansion was suitable for a queen. Xander was swimming with Mrs. Hills when I spotted him. I could see my son's enthusiasm. Two helpers and a couple of bodyguards kept an eye on them while they swam. I greeted the two helpers and bodyguards who were around. I overhear Xander speaking to Mrs. Hills.
- "Grandma, look! I can float! I did it!"
- That image brought tears to my eyes. Xander never had anyone except for me, Chloe, and Alex. Hearing him address Mrs. Hills' grandmother moved me to tears. I never met my parents. I have no idea what they looked like. I saw a bench and took a seat there to watch my son swim with Mrs. Hills. She then fixed her gaze directly on me.
- "Oh child, I was not expecting you to arrive this early," she inquired, with a broad grin on her face. “How was work?” she asked.
- "Tiring. Since yesterday, I haven't slept well. I barely got a couple of hours of shuteye. Relaxing at home is all I want to do." A scowl flashed on her face as she called out to a staff member,
- "Please take Ms. Parker to one of the guest rooms, let her clean up, and allow her to relax."
- "Of course, ma'am." Said the helper.
- I wanted to refuse the offer, but she shot me a glance that said, "Don't give me that bullsh*t."
- Followed the lady as she carried my luggage, I was devastated. I was escorted to a giant room, where the woman ran me a bubble bath. She gestured for me to enter. I did as they attempted to strip me naked. When I realized what they were up to, I put a stop to it.
- "I'm sure I'll be able to handle it on my own. Many thanks. I'll take care of things from here."
- They were glancing at each other, and I noticed it. I assured them I would be fine and they left. A bathrobe was lying on top of the bed as I exited the bathroom. I changed into my bathrobe and rushed to bed. When I went to sleep, I didn't know what had happened. The next morning, upon realizing I was in a strange bed, I sprung out of bed, checked the time, decided to take a bath, and proceeded down the stairs, where I was welcomed by Mrs. Hills.
- "Good morning,” Mrs. Hills said
- "I'm really sorry I overslept yesterday afternoon. This morning, I awoke and had a bath, as I needed to drop Xander off at school and then return home to change and head to work."
- "It's all right; we visited your room last night, but you were deep asleep. We did not want to disturb you, so we retired to our rooms. Xander is all set to go to school. He is already clothed."
- "Oh my God, I'm so grateful. Mrs. Hills.
- "You may address me as Grandma," she replied, smiling. I spotted Xander, all dressed up, coming down the stairs. He rushed over to me.
- "Mommy!"
- "How have you been, champ?"
- "Come check out my room; it's very cool."
- “Grandma and I went shopping and purchased a variety of items.”
- I trailed after him as he pulled me into his room. I was in amazement when he opened the door. The room was well decorated, with toys strewn around and a colossal bed. I came close to crying. I was speechless. Why had Mrs. Hills been so kind to me? We descended, and she invited us to brunch with her. I checked the time and realized that getting a cab home would be difficult, but I couldn't say no to her after she had been so sweet to us. After dining, I brought Xander with me and was about to request an Uber when she inquired as to what I was doing; I informed her that I was requesting, and she urged me not to.
- "Here," she said, and I extended my hand without peeking at what she was clutching. Your car is parked outside. Utilize it wisely. I articulated that you and Xander need a car, and that car would undoubtedly compliment you, and it's the greatest option for Xander. I tried to tell her no once again, but she cut me off.
- "This car is yours, and I'm refusing to take it back."
- "Thank you," I said as I gazed at her and hugged her.
- "You are quite welcome; now go; you will be late." When I got outside, a large car was waiting for me. I've never seen a car quite like that in my life. It seemed to be rather costly. I glanced at her and then approached her, hugging her and said,
- "Thank you, Grandma."
- "You are more than welcome. Child, now go before you're late," she kissed my brow.
- I entered the car and was taken aback. The car's interior was out of this world. When I return from work, I'll enquire with Alex about the brand of the car.
