Chapter 3 That Is What She Deserves
- Donned in a black coat and army boots, Corey exited the car with a calm expression. His defined features seemed to exude a magnificent aura.
- The moment he appeared, everyone could sense an obvious change around them. It was like the entire world was bowing down before the tall man, and the atmosphere around them felt very peculiar.
- Even the domineering man with the BMW instantly cowered and dared not make a sound.
- At the same time, everyone's gaze also fell onto Corey and the Rolls-Royce behind him, certain that the man with the strong temperament was no ordinary person. Upon seeing the special license plate on the Rolls-Royce, they were even more certain of Corey's extraordinary identity.
- Under everyone's gaze, he approached Freya and picked her up in his arms. "Freya, don't be scared. I'll help you deal with this."
- "Thank you, sir."
- When Freya saw it was the man from the farmer's market, she felt aggrieved and choked up, and then she started crying in Corey's arms.
- Meanwhile, Corey gently patted her head. Whenever he saw the little girl who shared so many resemblances with him, he couldn't help but feel conflicted. Though she was about 40 pounds, she weighed like a ton in his arms.
- Looking at his crying daughter, he felt tears gather in his eyes, and his heart twisted. So, this is my daughter?
- The next moment, Corey put on an extremely dark expression as he ordered, "Fabian, pay up."
- Fabian nodded and returned to the car to grab some cash before throwing it at Brody's feet, demanding angrily, "I've paid the fifty thousand my niece owed you for scratching your car, so how are we going to settle the incident where you slapped her?"
- When facing the similarly domineering Fabian, Brody felt slightly flustered and breathed heavily. "I… I was just—"
- Smack! Fabian grabbed Brody's left hand. "Did you use this hand to hit Freya?"
- "N-No."
- Snap! Crack!
- Without saying another word, Fabian easily crippled Brody's two hands with two twists. "Since you're not telling me, we'll just take it that you used both your hands, then."
- That scream shook everyone's souls, causing them to shiver. Watching how Brody fell to the ground and rolled around was especially terrifying for them. Everyone seemed terrified but was secretly happy to see the tycoon getting what he deserved.
- "His legs, too. He kicked away the bottles and cans my daughter had so much trouble gathering." After giving the order, Corey took the crying Freya back to the car.
- Once the car's door was closed, Fabian raised his feet and stomped heavily on Brody's legs. There were several cracks, followed by the man's screams of pain. Brody's veins were protruding from his temples, and he fell to the ground, unconscious.
- The moment the Rolls-Royce left, Sophia, who had been searching around for the child, saw everything and was shocked.
- The man who assaulted her daughter and received an eight-year jail sentence was now rich and could even afford a Rolls-Royce. After watching him stand up for Freya, Sophia felt conflicted and immediately grabbed her phone. "Emily, I found Freya. Corey took her away."
- …
- At the Reid Clinic, Corey sat on the couch, watching Freya quietly organize her gathered cans and bottles.
- At first, he wasn't sure about his feelings for Emily because he slept with her during one of his episodes and had no recollection of anything. Since he had no feelings for her, he didn't love her, so it was probably only guilt.
- Right after returning home, Corey swore that he would try his best to make up for the hurt he had caused Emily. As long as it was something she wanted, he would bring it to her, even at the expense of his life.
- However, Freya's appearance and Emily's tragic life rendered him at a loss. It seemed like his heinous act had caused Emily a lot of pain. She transformed from the noble lady everyone envied to someone everyone called a lunatic. Moreover, she and her parents were expelled from the family and became people at the bottom level of society. The remorse he felt weighed so much that he couldn't breathe, leaving him at a loss for how to face Emily.
- The current Emily was even more terrifying to him than facing thousands of mercenaries. Though Corey could easily deal with thousands of mercenaries, he dared not face Emily.
- Meanwhile, Fabian was kneeling beside Freya, helping her clean the bottles.
- The obvious slap mark on her cheeks made his heart ache, but the little girl had not said a word about the pain since she got inside the car. Instead, she kept saying it was her fault for not looking where she was walking.
- Was she at fault? So what if she was? She was the daughter of Corey Reid, the God of War. Not to mention scratching a car. Even if she decided to burn down the entire car, the car owner could do nothing but accept it. Even if Freya decided to have things her way in Cloymond, no one would dare oppose it.
- Why was that, and on what basis, one would ask. It was precisely on the basis that her father was Lucifer, Northvale's God of War, that her father was the one protecting the peaceful lives the people of Tyrand currently have, and that her father single-handedly fought the difficult battles at Northvale with rifles, using their enemies' blood in exchange for the peace everyone had.
- That was why Freya deserved such treatment.
- Freya, from today onwards, you won't have to bow down to anyone or shed any more tears. Your father has provided you with the entire world just with the rifle in his hand. As long as it's something you want, even the word can be yours and your mother's.
- "Boss." Fabian approached Corey.
- "Yes?" Corey finally moved his gaze away from Freya and onto Fabian. "What's the matter?" he asked calmly.
- "This afternoon, Emily went to borrow money from her boss, Neil Sparks, to pay for her father's medical fees. Neil gave her 200,000 in a bank card but with the condition that she accompany him on an island vacation for a week. I'm sure you know what that means. Emily rejected the condition and was fired. Now, she's jobless and did not even receive her salary for this month. Due to her personality flaw, she did not sign an employment contract with the company, so she could do nothing about the company not releasing her salary."
- Corey turned from calm to furious upon hearing that.
- Neil Sparks? Is that guy looking for death?
- Corey narrowed his eyes, and a murderous aura began permeating the entire clinic, making Fabian feel suffocated.
- When Fabian saw Corey was on the urge to explode, he immediately spoke up. "Boss, I'll go deal with him right away."
- "Wait." Corey stopped Fabian, who was about to leave the clinic. Murderous intent filled his eyes again as he muttered, "I'll personally deal with that man, but now, I need you to arrange a job for Emily. You must be discreet because if she finds out I was behind it, she will refuse. As for how you're going to do it, I'm sure you know the answer."
- "Okay, I understand."
- Soon, Fabian disappeared into the dark.
- …
- Only Freya and Corey were left in the clinic.
- "Freya, what are you doing here?" Suddenly, Emily's devastated voice sounded from the entrance.
