Chapter 4
- I open my eyes in surprise, his lips moving against mine, I push my hands against his muscular torso to push him away from me
- I manage to push him back a little, but he doesn't budge, anger ignites within me, Who does he think he is to be able to kiss me!?
- His lips are soft and apply a firm pressure against mine, they feel warm and as if they fit perfectly with mine.
- I hate him!
- With an impulse and full of anger, I bite his lower lip forcefully, causing him to grunt and quickly pull away from my lips, he takes several steps back, his right hand goes up to his mouth to check and we both are surprised when we see the blood on his fingers."
- With trembling knees, I try to catch my breath and wipe my lips in disgust, as if I wanted to remove his mark from me.
- “Why did you do that!? "
- He yells furiously and his eyes look at me as if they were burning with fire.
- Bile rises immediately and I have to compose myself not to spit in his face
- "Why did I do that!? You kissed me! "
- I shout hysterically.
- His gaze turns colder and his shining eyes look at me lifelessly, he clenches his lips tightly and exhales deeply, causing his chest to swell.
- He slowly approaches me and continues to look at me in silence, although I don't want to admit it, his gaze intimidates me and my body begins to tremble uncontrollably
- Suddenly he grabs me by the chin roughly, making me let out a small growl
- "Listen to me well, Bella Swan, I want it to be clear that there was nothing between us, I am your boss, a respected businessman in plain view, I cannot associate with any employee, it's not like you imagine, it was a one-time thing, a small and insignificant misunderstanding, however, if anyone finds out, you will lose your job."
- He clarifies and tightens my jaw, pushing me aside and leaving the office.
- Damn son of a bitch...
- I arrive home completely exhausted and in a state of disarray, I haven't shed a single tear all this time, even though I was very tempted to do so
- First, he kisses me and then threatens to fire me
- Just because he's the boss's son doesn't mean he can do whatever he wants!
- I close my eyes trembling and try to block the images from my mind, the feeling of his lips on mine still lingers and I hate him for it
- After calming down, I take a quick shower to erase his marks from my skin, I still feel his hands on me, as if he is moving up and down my body
- Freshly showered and with my thoughts free, I go to sleep, suppressing the desire to have a body next to me that hugs me and loves me, I think about it and everything is fine again
- I wake up the next day and still feel tired, the first thought I have is Bill, not exactly because of our cancelled date but because of Mr Dallas's fault that we couldn't meet, but I hope we can make up for it today
- After doing my makeup and straightening my hair, I decide to wear a black leather skirt with a white bodysuit, my curves accentuate my figure and I feel good about it, I grab a beige cardigan, that will work for tonight
- In the office with the cardigan, I'll look executive and without it, I'll look good enough to go for drinks with Bill
- I leave my apartment and after a short trip, I arrive at the office, the idea of having to see him makes me queasy
- "Wow, you look great, good morning Bella."
- Bill greets me comfortably
- Laughing a little, I hug him and kiss him on the cheek
- "Good morning Bill."
- When I take a step back, we are interrupted by a loud bang, which startles both of us
- As I feared, I have to see him sooner than I expected, Arthur Dallas
- His name is only synonymous with seduction, but I won't be fooled, I am not and will not be one of his puppets who jumps whenever he wants, with arrogance I look away from him and give Bill a brief smile, I walk to my desk and sit down without looking at him
- "Miss Swan, you are here to work, not to make friends."
- My boss comments quite annoyed, giving Bill a venomous look before throwing new documents on my desk and disappearing from the office.
- I grumble again and take the documents to start reviewing them, I know that's what he expects me to do.
- "What's wrong with him?" Bill asks, confused. I shrug and immerse myself in my work.
- I won't let my boss unsettle me again.
- The day passes quickly enough and I'm glad for that. I reviewed all the books my boss asked me to and continued with the other accounts I had to review.
- "I think it's best if we leave now before someone decides you should do more things," Bill suggests, getting up from his seat. I agree with his words, so I shut down my computer.
- "Bill, go ahead, I'll go to the bathroom first," I say and quickly leave our office.
- I arrive at the bathroom and see some of my colleagues finishing their makeup to go out. I wait patiently for them to finish and then enter when there's no one left.
- I give myself one last look in the mirror and feel like the night can begin. However, I left my purse in the office so I have to go back.
- When I entered the office, I was surprised to see someone sitting at my desk.
- "Can I help you with something, Mr. Dallas?" I ask, fully aware that this could cost me my job.
- He looks at me and shifts slightly in his chair.
- "You can, Bella if you don't leave," he replies coldly, examining me intensely.
- I look at him in confusion for a few seconds before I can't resist commenting.
- "Oh, I'm sorry, I can't help you with that, Arthur," I reply in a fake sad tone. His eyes shine dangerously at my words, looking at me threateningly as if wishing me death with his gaze.
- I stand confidently in front of him, avoiding him noticing that I'm trembling inside.
- "If you'll excuse me, Arthur, I have a date that I have to reschedule," I give him a playful smile and walk towards him to grab my purse, which is right in front of him. He watches every step I take with his burning eyes, which seem to have darkened.
- As I lean forward to grab my purse, he abruptly grabs my arm.
- His grip is strong and it makes me dizzy instantly.
- "I am your boss, you must obey me," he whispers in my face, smiling arrogantly.
- "I signed the contract with your father as my boss, not with you, so your father is my boss, not you. I have nothing to obey you," I reply firmly and pull my hand from his grip, quickly grab my purse and leave the office with fast steps towards the elevator.
- Once inside, I quickly press the button for the door to close, but it doesn't prevent me from hearing my boss's furious shout.
- "Are you okay? You seem in another world," Bill asks me, worried, forcing a smile. I just shake my head.
- "Don't worry, I'm fine, just tired," I lie, although in a way it's not entirely untrue. I'm tired, but only because of one person.
- "I would be too, Mr. Dallas is making you work overtime, why?" Bill asks curiously.
- "Well, you know, they need to quickly find out what's causing the company's losses," I reply honestly to reassure him, and I feel a little better when I see the waiter bringing our food.
- While we eat, we talk and laugh a lot. I enjoy being with Bill.
- "That day they called my parents to the principal's office, the teachers didn't know how to explain that I had peed all over the hallways. I was 17!" I laugh and wipe away a tear that escaped from laughter.
- "No way," I say laughing, "I think they'll never surpass you in embarrassment."
- "No kidding, no one has been as unlucky as I was back then."
- We finish eating and I notice that Bill wants to say something but doesn't dare.
- "What's wrong?" I ask curiously.
- "What happened in the office before you left?" Bill asks with concern.
- "What do you mean?" I ask in a relaxed manner, but it's hard for me to hide my nervousness.
- "When you left the office, it looked like you had seen a ghost, you were so pale. I don't think you were alone, something or someone must have said something to you."
- "No one did anything to me, I can assure you," I smile at him to calm him down and not insist on the subject anymore.
- "But then, why did you go so pale?" Bill asks, confused.
- I just smile and gesture with my hand for him not to worry about it and put some food in my mouth.
- If you had heard his angry scream, dear Bill, you would have been just as scared...
- "The food was very good, thank you for the invitation," I tell Bill as we leave the place.
- "My pleasure, I enjoyed being with you tonight," he says honestly.
- "We should do it more often."
- "Yes. What do we do now? It's still early and tomorrow is Saturday," Bill asks excitedly.
- "Hmm, I don't know. Movie?" I ask.
- "There are no good movies playing. How about we go dancing? I know there are some clubs nearby," Bill suggests.
- "I think that's a good idea, it's just been a while since the last time I went dancing," I say, laughing.
- "I'm the same, so relax, we can make fools of ourselves together," Bill laughs and puts his arm around my shoulders.
- We walk around looking for a club as we chat and laugh.
- In the distance, we see a club and about 8 people are waiting in line outside, it seems like they have been waiting for a long time.
- "Let's go," Bill says excitedly as he walks towards the line.
- "Can we get in? It looks very crowded," I comment.
- "Don't worry, you'll see, a group of drunks will come out and we'll be able to get in," Bill responds as if it were nothing.
- I sigh and walk towards the line and it starts moving just as we get there, hopefully, they won't stop letting people in.
- Fortunately, they don't, I think we were pretty lucky not to have to wait in line after all.
- "I still can't believe we got in so easily," I laugh and clink glasses with Bill.
- "Well, you can always have a bit of good luck," he responds with a smile.
- The place is completely packed and I'm sure the line outside has gotten much longer.
- I took a look at the club and I was surprised to see how big it is, there are many lights and tables, you could say it's not an ordinary club at all.
- "Did anything catch your eye?" Bill asks me curiously as he drinks his drink.
- "Not really, and you?"
- "Yes, an extremely charming and beautiful woman," Bill smiles seductively and seems to be looking for someone with his gaze.
- "Well then, what are you waiting for? Go and dance with her," I encourage him.
- He looks at me with a sigh and his eyes become sad.
- "Are you okay? Did I say something wrong?" I ask, concerned.
- "No, no, everything's fine, you didn't say anything wrong. I'm in love with a beautiful woman, her name is Ruby, but she doesn't want anything to do with me. But every time I look at another woman, I feel like I'm betraying her," he admits with frustration.
- I look at him encouragingly and pat his hand.
- "Bill, she's not yours, so you're not betraying anyone. I know how you feel about her and it's not easy, but you must be open to the possibility of meeting new people. Don't close yourself off, maybe destiny has already chosen someone else for you, someone much better," I encourage him.
- "Thank you, Bella, you have no idea how much I need those words right now," he says and stands up, swaying a bit. "If you'll excuse me, I'll go in search of my destiny," I laugh as I watch him walk to the dance floor and start moving to the music.
- "Hello, beautiful," I hear a voice say next to me.
- I turn my head and find a tall, blond man with blue eyes and a robust build.
- "I'm Conor."
- "Hello, I'm Bella," I say, forcing a smile.
- "Your name does you justice. Would you like to dance?" he asks directly. I shrug, I have nothing to lose.
- I nod and Conor leads me to the dance floor, where he starts dancing to the music and I try to keep up.
- I dance to the music and hide all my worries and thoughts.
- After dancing for about an hour, Conor pulls me towards him.
- "Would you like to get a drink?" Conor asks in my ear, and I nod gratefully.
- So we walk to the bar.
- Conor orders two cocktails and when they are handed to us, he looks at me with a big smile.
- "Cheers," he smiles and takes a big sip. I smile briefly and take a sip, only now realizing how tired I am from dancing so much.
- But I felt pretty good forgetting about everything for a moment.
- "Do you want to dance a little longer?" Conor asks me after finishing his drink.
- "No, I want to stay here a little longer, I'm tired," I reply.
- "Alright, it was nice meeting you," he said and walked back to the dance floor.
- I watch him with a smile as he walks away and let my gaze wander around the club. Just as I was about to look away to find Bill, I stopped, noticing there was a second floor where the VIP area was located.
- On the balcony, there is a man with dangerously bright eyes looking at me. Immediately, my breath quickens and a heat spreads through my body. I tense up immediately, my legs threatening to give out and I feel dizzy.
- He stands there, in an expensive and tight suit, staring intensely at me, letting his gaze briefly shift towards the dance floor, and then back to me.
- Did he see me dance?
- As he stares at me, a woman approaches him and wraps her arms around him. A pain spreads in my stomach and my chest tightens.
- He continues to look at me in silence, not even paying attention to the woman as she whispers something in his ear.
- "Shall we go?" Bill asks me, suddenly appearing by my side.
- I jump a little from the surprise and nod as Bill puts his arm around my shoulders.
- But I only have eyes for Arthur, my boss.
- He sits down and gives me one last cold look before pulling the girl next to him and pressing his lips against hers.
