Chapter 3
- Oh God! Why does this only happen to me!? How much bad luck will I continue to have? I don't know what's worse, snooping on my boss's ins and liking his photos or seeing my stove full of hot milk...
- As quickly as I could, I cancel the likes, I understand that if it's removed quickly, that person may not see the likes.
- But if so, could there be anything more embarrassing?
- I have no clue, so maybe he doesn’t notice, I let out a sigh of relief.
- I pour the little milk I have left into a cup and add some sugar, I drink it on my way to my room and finally fall asleep.
- Morning comes faster than expected, and I still feel completely exhausted, I arrive at the office and Bill is already there sitting.
- "Good morning, Bella," Bill greets me as he types something on his keyboard.
- "Mm, good day," I reply trying not to fall asleep."
- "Are you always so grumpy in the morning?" he asks amused, I give him a dirty look until a yawn stops me, which makes us both laugh.
- "I think it's best to have a coffee first, do you want one too?" I ask him as I leave my things on my desk.
- "Yes, thank you," I receive a response, so I leave the office and walk to the kitchen.
- I impatiently wait for the coffee to be ready, meanwhile, I take the milk out of the fridge and remember that my stove still has milk spilt everywhere...
- When the coffee is ready, I pour it into two cups, and suddenly a hand grabs one of the cups.
- "Thank you," I hear a voice say close to my ear.
- My body freezes immediately and I feel a warmth on my back.
- Slowly I turn around to see who approached me so closely, that's when I meet deep eyes that silently and coldly stare at me.
- I hold my breath as I look into his eyes, they are beautiful on one side but on the other, they shine dangerously and mysteriously.
- "I think you're quite close," I gasp, his proximity confuses me and dulls my senses.
- "I just wanted to tell you that if you're so interested in my photos, just let me know, I'll bring you a photo so you don't have to look for me on the Internet," he whispers in my ear and buries his face in my hair, I gasp in shock as I blush.
- But I am just an idiot, of course, he noticed...
- With a smile, he walks away from me and leaves the kitchen with my cup in hand.
- I quickly make another coffee and return to the office.
- "Thank you very much, Bella," Bill says when I hand him his coffee. "Today I have to go somewhere else for some documents, so I don't know, should I wait for you? Or how do we do to go out this afternoon?"
- "Oh, don't worry, you don't have to wait for me, I'll go home, change clothes, and we'll meet at the bar later," I reply.
- "Okay, then see you this afternoon," Bill gets up, gathers his things, hugs me, and then leaves the office.
- Bill and I had agreed to go out together this afternoon to get to know each other better, since we will be spending so much time together it's better to get to know each other.
- It's not a date, so don't start thinking things, at least not on my part it's not a date, I don't know if he's thinking otherwise.
- After Bill leaves, I calmly drink my coffee and return to work, there are still many accounts to verify and I want to finish everything as quickly as possible, and if necessary, I will check everything twice.
- That's why I get so into my work that everything around me fades away, the numbers require all my attention.
- "Miss Swan, did you hear what I said?" I hear a very, very angry voice say, I startle and look up, and there I see Mr. Dallas in front of me.
- God... he looks so good.
- "Sir, I'm sorry, what did you say?" I ask confused, how long has he been there?
- "I asked if you could review these accounts," he says, but in the way he says it, I know he won't take no for an answer.
- I look at the clock and realize that my workday ended ten minutes ago, and I have to see Bill at 6, so I only have about 20 minutes to get there.
- "I don't have time, I hadn't realized the time, I have a date," I tell him. I don't know when I thought he could understand, but his angry face and the way he clenches his jaw tell me otherwise.
- His eyes shine dangerously, and I shiver under his gaze.
- "A date? I think your work is more important than the date, so cancel and stay here reviewing that," he throws the accounting books on my desk and storms out of my office.
- When I snap out of my shock, I look at the books and can't believe it.
- Stay in the office longer than necessary? Can he make me do that?
- Annoyed and grunting, I grab my phone and send a message to Bill to let him know we won't be able to go out tonight because of my dear boss.
- After finishing reviewing the accounts, I have no choice but to go and show Mr. Dallas the results.
- So, with slightly trembling hands, I straighten my clothes and walk to his office at the other end of the hallway, which is blocked by a large door, so the office cannot be seen. I'm not surprised to see that the whole office is already empty; it's almost 7 in the evening.
- I take a deep breath when I'm in front of his door and knock. I hear a deep "Come in" and enter his office. As expected, his office is luxurious, full of glass with a beautiful view, and the place is immaculate.
- "Sorry to bother you, I finished reviewing the books. Do you want to check them?" I say, trying to hold his penetrating gaze.
- "Of course," he says, getting up and looking at me with heavy steps as I try to normalize my breathing. When I hand him the documents, he takes them, letting our hands touch for a few seconds, and just that small touch sets my whole body on fire. "I have other documents I'd like you to review; they're here," he says, standing directly in front of me and looking at me.
- I look into his eyes in silence until I lower my gaze and reach for the documents he's offering me, taking special care not to touch his hands again.
- "When you're done, come back here," he says before turning around and walking back to his desk.
- I nod reluctantly and leave his office quickly, feeling his gaze burning into my back.
- I arrive at my office and sigh, looking at the book in front of me, but I relax when I realize there isn't much data there, so I start my work and finish it faster than expected.
- I get up from my desk to bring the documents to my boss. After hearing his "come in," I enter his office.
- "Did you check it already?" he asks me, and I nod. "Good, I didn't find any mistakes in the accounts you reviewed. Let me check this and we're done."
- "I was hoping you could check it yourself. I've already finished my workday, so I'm going to leave," I inform him, turning to leave his office.
- I'm surprised not to hear a reprimand from him, but a loud noise interrupts my thoughts. When I turn to see what's causing the sound, I see my boss right in front of me, his gaze determined and freezing me in place. I look behind him and see his chair on the floor.
- His gaze is cold, and his hands are clenched into fists.
- I try to leave, but his hands grab me around the waist with force, and his mouth claims mine...
