• AVA’S POV
• I have never felt so humiliated and disgraced. George returned home after I was abducted for a night and beaten to half-dead with the news of his removal. He was relieved of his position as the Beta and we had to leave anything that was attached to the Beta position. The houses, the cars, the maids, allowances and influence. George was stupid enough not to invest in anything all through his reign as the Beta. He spent lavishly on cars and an extravagant lifestyle. We were stripped of everything.
• He became different. Harsh, hot-tempered and he became a drunk. He literally made himself useless. He would always blame me for how things turned out. His blame pushed me to start following Ciana around. I wanted to know her secret. I feel like there is something about her that I couldn’t place my fingers on. She didn’t hesitate to flaunt her success and a new position in my face even though she ignored every question about her identity.
