Chapter 22

• DACIANA’S POV
• A rigid body stopped me on the bed. Corni's body lay still beside me, his bare chest out in the open and he was wearing a brief. I looked away and tried to remember last night. My head hurt as I tried. I had too much to drink last night and my memory was hazy. I sat up lazily and yawned, sitting for a while until I regained my strength. I walked to the bathroom. Resting on the sink, I splashed water on my face. I stared at my own reflection. I looked haggard. My hair was in a mess, my makeup was ruined. I was wearing my nightie. I wondered how I got into them. I didn’t remember changing out of my clothes. I shook away the thoughts of Corni changing me. I returned to the room. He was still sleeping.
• My head was banging from my hangover. I held pills in my hand and left for the kitchen to get water. It was just 7 am. I wondered why I was awake early and since I was unable to sleep back, I got myself busy with watching TV shows. A broadcast interrupted the show. It was about the Beta George scandal, even though the Alpha had kept the secret away from the public to avoid uproar, they were still happy to see him leave. He had made too many enemies for himself. The broadcast captured moments where he and his wife were escorted out of their house. They were to leave everything attached to the Beta position and the house was among them.
