Chapter 5 Threat I
- CHAPTER FIVE
- (Threat I)
- Amelia's POV
- I felt quite uneasy as everyone stared at me. A lanky guy with an ugly scar on the right side of his cheek suddenly stood up and pointed to me. He was roughly dressed and his tie hung loosely on his neck.
- There was an annoying smirk on his face as he spoke. I felt like wiping his ugly smirk off with a swipe. I eyed him, wondering what he had to say.
- He cocked his neck towards me with sheer curiosity. "Isn't she the one who slapped Tristan Nick earlier this morning?"
- "What! She slapped Tristan?" The others said with surprise and began to chatter loudly. All eyes were now fully on me.
- The scarred guy clapped his hands in mockery. "You mean you weren't aware of what happened this morning?" he said, laughing.
- I folded my arms in silence, irritated by his lousiness.
- "Apparently, " he started, enjoying the attention he was getting. He cleared his throat in a dramatic manner.
- Roberts Shawn, for that was the guy's name continued.
- "Like I was saying, that lady over there hit Tristan Nick. So, it happened this way. You all know that timid-looking girl in class Pink called Daisy Keys right?"
- Without waiting for a response, he continued.
- "Daisy stepped on Tristan's shoes without knowing and so, he got angry and slapped her, demanding that she clean his shoes with her hair."
- "Uh? That was harsh." Someone interrupted him.
- Roberts fondled with his headphones without saying anything, provoking suspense in the classroom.
- "What happened next?" Another person shouted impatiently.
- Roberts grinned, his scar became more obvious as his cheeks widened. He proceeded with his tale.
- "Daisy went on her knees and held her hair, ready to clean Tristan shoes. The new girl came forward and slapped Tristan hard across the face." he gesticulated wildly as he spoke. There was a look of excitement on his face, making me wonder why he was that way.
- "She challenged him on his actions towards Daisy without batting an eye. After giving him a piece of her mind, she stomped on his shoes and left." he concluded with an air of finality.
- The class was thrown in an uproar when Roberts finished. "Wow! I heard the gist the morning but I waved it aside, thinking that it was just a rumour." A girl said.
- "Who would ever dare lay his hands on Tristan Nick?"
- "Well...she did." Another replied him.
- "Serves Tristan right. He really needs to be put in his place for once. He is so full of himself." Another person said and hissed loudly.
- "She is in for trouble."
- "She should have just ignored the scene and walked away."
- "The school director will never let her go scot-free."
- "I heard that she is a scholarship student."
- "No wonder she acted rashly. Those less privileged kids are so classless."
- "Daisy Keys is also a scholarship student."
- "It's not surprising that the new girl stood up for her. It is a case of the poor helping the poor."
- I went livid with anger when I heard the demeaning remarks made by some of them. I banged my table as hard as I could, attracting the attention of everyone to myself. I was about to give them a piece of my mind when I heard beeping sounds from phones.
- Everyone looked at their phones with puzzled looks, wondering why their phones beeped at the same time.
- "Look, " A lady said with excitement, pointing to her phone. "Someone sent the video of what transpired between Tristan Nick and the new girl to the Lilyvites group chat.
- I watched as they watched the video, murmuring among themselves. I couldn't take it anymore. I dashed out the class, upset. I decided to go in search of the director's office, ready to listen to what he had to say. Although, I feared losing my studentship due to what happened but I didn't regret it.
- I shrugged and decided to accept my fate.
- I looked back to see Gerald running after me. I waited for him to catch up with me.
- "Hey," he said when he got to where I stood.
- "You were told to go in the company of your class president, remember?"
- He continued when I didn't respond.
- "To be honest, I admire your guts in challenging Tristan. He has been a thorn in the flesh. I like the fact that you stood up to him. Although, I am not on scholarship, I emphasize with those on scholarship a lot. They are always treated with distain. You must have noticed that some of the rich kids treat the other students very badly. They are usually discriminated and bullied. Only a few like you had stood up for themselves and had prevented themselves from getting bullied.
- I'm scared for you though. The director pampers his son like an egg and severely deals with whoever messes with his son. You need to do something to avoid expulsion. I fear that he might get you suspended and at worst, expelled." he said with a tone of concern.
- My stomach churned with disgust as I learnt about how the students from the lower class in the society were treated. I thought long and hard and suddenly, an idea popped into my head. I smiled with mischief.
- "I think I have an idea." I told Gerald, my face brightening up.
- "Do you have the viral video?" I asked him.
- Gerald looked at me a look of confusion. "The viral video? What video?"
- "I mean the video of what transpired in the morning."
- Having the video would be the only way out of the hot mess I had landed myself.
- Gerald nodded. "I have it but what do you want to do with it?" He looked at me with suspicion.
- Relieved, I brought out my phone and handed it over to him. "Can you please forward the video to my phone?" I pleaded with him.
- Gerald looked at him like I had gone nuts."Don't tell me you want to show the director the video. Showing him won't change anything. Moreover, he must have seen the video even before you get to him."
- I smiled cunningly.
- "Before coming to this school, I once heard that students are not allowed to post whatever happens within the confines of this school on social media."
- "Of course, it is a very big offence. in fact, it might lead to the expulsion of the student if fished out.
- As the school is an A-list, any slight controversy will be give the school a very bad image. Don't even think about posting it online. Your IP address will be traced back to you and you'll get yourself expelled." He explained.
