Chapter 4

  • Bright Lee undressed at Simcoe Manor in City J and went outside. Bill Newman, his assistant, waited politely with his head lowered for his orders.
  • He took a seat at the dinner table and gracefully, aesthetically beautiful, enjoyed his meal.
  • However, his attractive face was expressionless, and the surrounding atmosphere was eerily silent. "Bill Newman, you haven't even been able to locate a woman in a few months.
  • Do you possess the necessary skills? Bright ran her delicate fingertips down the rim of the milk mug.
  • In this instant, Bright's captivating voice felt to Bill Newman like a mystical enchantment, leaving him feeling cold.
  • "President, the woman worked at the hotel for a while using a false identity. She's been alone herself all of her life. I've been informed that she's not a native of the country, and that the CCTV footage from that evening was altered. Bill Newman remained mute while he awaited Bright's sentencing, afraid to say anything more.
  • Bright's grim face was devoid of any sign of happiness or rage, and he remained silent. He drank the milk only very slowly.
  • That day, he felt rejuvenated after taking a shower, and the woman with whom he had a one-night fling vanished, taking the check with it.
  • However, the striking dark red plum bloom against the white linens served as a constant reminder that this was real.
  • Her beauty and youth drove him insane and prevented him from controlling his emotions. He was so tempted to gorge himself on her body. He was unable to resist missing that night's beauty.
  • All he could recall of her was her gaudy face because the lights were dim.
  • Bright gave a headshake. What ailed him?
  • He fell head over heels in love with a complete stranger—a woman who dared to include him in her plot!
  • With a rather self-deprecating smirk, he snorted.
  • Simply put, there should be a cost for this woman who dared to plan.
  • Bright narrowed his eyes a little, and his enmity grew stronger and more intense.
  • The pressure was getting to Bill, and he thought he would pass out.
  • "Pres... President, if I don't find this woman... I will go to Africa." Bill balled his fists, determined to get what he wanted.
  • It would be a disgrace for him to allow a woman to tarnish his track record of ability.
  • Upon hearing him, Bright slowly raised his head, focusing his icy gaze on Bill.
  • Like a chilly sword that had sliced Bill to ribbons, the expression was furious and frigid.
  • Lightly putting down the milk mug, Bright spoke the words "there's no need."
  • Startled, Bill glanced up at his sage employer. Was it just a hallucination? Or does the president believe he is ineffective?
  • "Please give me another chance, President. I'll take any kind of penalty if I can't finish the assignment." Bill was uncompromising.
  • Bright sent him a chilly glance. "I declined. Step outside to prepare. We have five minutes until we head out to the company."
  • At that point, Bill breathed a sigh of relief at last.
  • Actually, there was another reason he was hoping to track down the woman from that evening. Now he required a submissive spouse.
  • Money could fix issues, and she wanted money to solve problems. Feelings may cause problems in a relationship, thus he didn't need them. Once they separated, a contractual marriage built on shared benefits would not become a burden. Thus, when he thought of that woman at first...
  • Five years had gone by in a flash.
  • Rose got up at seven in the morning at the Four Seasons Hotel in City J and took one last look at the papers and paperwork she would need for the day.
  • Her phone rang at that time, and Rose answered the video call. A beautiful, adorable white infant materialized on the screen. The small girl looked like a doll, with thick, curled eyelashes and pink jelly lips.
  • "Mommy, good morning." The young girl gave Rose a warm wave and a charming smile.
  • "Good morning, too, baby. In five minutes, Mom is going to be departing. Be sure you get enough food and rest. I'll come get you when I get back.
  • Do not forget to pay attention to Aunt Jane's words."
  • Rose talked softly and affectionately.
  • She gave her daughter to her friend Jane Smith, who also happened to be her daughter's kindergarten teacher, due to a business trip. Jane Smith found it rather convenient to provide her daughter with transportation.
  • "Mom won't have to worry about money since Doris will behave herself well.
  • Just remember that mom will worry if you work too hard." With her hands, five-year-old Doris formed a small heart. "I miss you every day, mom."
  • "Mom misses you too." Rose's eyes were crimson and she felt warmed.
  • Following her five-year expulsion from the Linder family, she returned with her daughter to City Y, where she had previously attended school. Mother and daughter embarked on a new life together, dependent on one another.
  • But Rose rarely sobbed because Doris was too practical and understood how difficult it was for her to work and raise a child; instead, she offered Rose consolation and support. Rose felt guilty about how considerate she was.
  • Doris was Rose's little angel, and she never regretted having given birth to her because at least she still had a family and a place to live.
  • Rose and her assistant left the hotel at 8:20 and headed to HY Group.
  • She was employed at City Y's biggest design firm, YM Group. Within the corporation, there was intense competition.
  • Over her four years at YM Group, Rose never ventured to take a break. She consistently put forth a lot more effort than most. She was named the Excellent Designer of the Year for three years in a row thanks to her abilities and creativity. Her pay increased along with her promotion.
  • The theater that HY Group invested in and built in City J was the largest project at the start of the year. YM Group would not logically pass up this fantastic chance to collaborate with HY Group.
  • William Quinn, the design director, chose Rose to be the primary designer for the project. It's understandable that people would feel jealous of her given the level of confidence and support bestowed upon her.
  • Rose could only bring an assistant with her this time because William Quinn was meant to accompany her to City J to discuss their cooperation but was involved in a vehicle accident and had to be committed to the hospital before they could leave. It was also time to demonstrate her ability, not to mention disappoint Director Quinn with her lack of concern.
  • Rose felt confused as she stood in front of the HY Group's imposing headquarters building.
  • After spending five years in hiding, she was finally going to come clean to him.
  • All she could hope for was that she wouldn't run into Bright because vice president David Hank was the one who was in charge of the theater project.
  • She then learned that Bright Lee would not be returning for a few days since he had already left on a business trip to the United States. There's nothing greater than this news.
  • On the third day, Rose and her helper were shown to the upper floor by the HY Group receptionist. She emerged from the elevator as soon as the door opened.
  • As she made her way to the meeting area, Bright unexpectedly approached her. Rose nearly contorted her foot at that same moment.
  • This was just unexpected and unexpected!
  • Being the tall and attractive Bright, he was always the center of attention.
  • Just one look at him drew people in, his eyes as deep and mysterious as a chasm, with a pair of straight eyebrows and eyes that seemed to be streaming with ink.
  • He stood six feet or more tall. His form was flawlessly accentuated by the elegant black suit and the timeless white shirt. His aristocratic bearing was evident when he walked, and his long, straight legs made him look good.
  • Rose moved aside, followed by her assistant and the receptionist from HY Group.
  • "Hello president Lee."
  • Bright didn't stop, just gave a subtle nod.
  • Rose didn't even dare to breathe since she was so terrified when he went by that she was glued to the wall. She was afraid that Bright might see her as she peered down.
  • Luckily, he walked away without noticing her.
  • She breathed a silent sigh of relief as Bright flicked a glance with the corner of his eyes, then followed the receptionist.
  • "Stop." She had only taken two steps when she heard a familiar voice behind her.
  • The voice was as seductive and raspy as it had been five years before.
  • However, Rose shook and her hands started to perspire.
