Chapter 8
- Raven Pack - Darco's Palace
- Raga's Point Of View
- "What did you say happened again?"
- I remained on my knees and kept my head bowed even though his powerful steps approached. I felt his breath against my head, which told me he was bent to my height. I felt his finger under my chin and he tilted my head up with it. My eyes met his deadly gaze and I was tempted to let my head back down.
- "I...I found her,"
- "But...?" He drawled, raising his brow.
- "She...I couldn't get to her. She was with someone. A man. I suspect he was the same man that took her away."
- "How did he look like?"
- "I couldn't see his face. He took off with Alexa the moment she sighted me. I chased them but..." I gulped as his face hardened. "I...I couldn't keep up," I concluded, lowering my gaze.
- "You are the strongest and fastest warrior in the pack, yet you couldn't keep up with a mere wolf?"
- "He...he wasn't a mere wolf. He is different. He was super fast. Unimaginably fast. I've never seen a wolf that fast in my life and he didn't smell like a normal vampire either,"
- He let go of my chin and I let out an air I never realized I was holding. He got to his feet and walked to his throne. "Could he be what I think he is?" He mumbled to himself.
- "I want you to find out who he is. Where did you say you found him?"
- "Whitepeak Pack, my Lord."
- "Find out more about him. Do it stealthily." He warned and I bowed. "Yes, my Lord."
- He waved his hand in dismissal and I stood up. I bowed one last time before exiting the throne room. Getting out, I rested my back on the door and took a deep breath.
- "Alexa..." I breathed out as her face popped up in my head.
- She was just a little girl when I saw her for the first time. Her little eleven years old self was being dragged away and I felt pity.
- How could such a little girl be bounded in such cruelty? That was what I thought when I saw her weary face. I felt so bad for her so I tried to unbind her but she bit my hand brutally.
- I still remember the deadly gaze she shot at me when my hand touched her.
- "Don't fucking touch me!" She fired at me that day. Even in her bad state, she wouldn't receive help from me, because of what I was. Since then I've always been intrigued by her. Even though she doesn't realize it, I looked after her as she grew older into a dark and beautiful young woman.
- I thought I was just intrigued by her but my aching heart says otherwise.
- I don't want her in the hands of Darco.
- I don't want her in the hands of that wolf.
- I want her...
- "Master Raga?" A small whisper pulled me out of my thoughts. I opened my eyes and found a head peeking out from one of the pillars.
- I left the door and went to it. The person poked their head further outside. "It's me,"
- I frowned thoughtfully. The girl looked familiar.
- "Who are..?"
- "It's me, remember? Alexa's friend! Ivy."
- "Oh," I said in realization. "What are you doing here?"
- "I came to ask you something. Meet me outside," she rushed her words and scurried away. 'meet me outside'? Who is she to order me around? And how did she even get into the alpha's residence? She's definitely trying to get herself killed.
- I tucked my hand in the pockets of my coat and exited the residence. My eyes searched for her as I walked out of the palace. Where the hell is this scrawny girl?
- "Psst! Master!" I heard her call from behind. I turned and found her behind a tree.
- "Are you trying to get yourself killed?" I asked her.
- "That's one of my agendas but now is not the time for that," she replied and I scoffed out in amusement. I never expected that type of reply from her.
- "So why did you call me out?"
- "Did you find Alexa?" Another voice said from behind her. I tilted my head sideways to see the person clearly.
- "Who is that?"
- "My name is Rowan." The brown-haired boy said as he revealed himself from behind the tree.
- "You two sure are bold for sneaking around like this,"
- "So tell us, did you find her?" Ivy chipped in.
- "No, I..." I paused my words and frowned. "Why am I even answering your questions? I'm your master, you shouldn't be ordering me around,"
- Ivy smiled. "Come on." She wigged her brows, tugging the hem of my sleeve.
- "You know I can kill you right now,"
- "I know you can't. Or rather, you wouldn't. You're a nice person."
- "Nice?" I chuckled. "This is the first time I'm hearing a wolf call my kind nice,"
- "Don't get me wrong, your kind is still evil." She said and my smile faded. "But you're different," She added smilingly and I cleared my throat.
- "Is she okay?" Rowan asked and I nodded.
- "She seemed like it. She made a new friend too."
- "Who?" Ivy asked curiously.
- I eyed her. "That's enough information. Just know she's fine." I said, pushing her away from me.
- "When are you going back there?" Rowan asked.
- "You're not bringing her back, are you?" Ivy questioned.
- Am I bringing her back?
- "I am,"
- "No! You said she seemed fine. If she did then let her be. Don't bring her back into this hell hole. She's had enough," Rowan said.
- "If she comes back here, then she'll have to be the alpha's bed warmer," Ivy whispered and shuddered right after. "I don't even wanna imagine it,"
- "If it's the alpha's wish then so be it," I told them and turned away.
- "Where are you going?" Ivy yelled after me but I ignored her.
- "You better protect her!" Rowan threatened.
- Protect her?
- Am I even qualified to do that?
