Chapter 7

  • Alexa's Point Of View
  • Without thinking twice, I turned in the opposite direction and started running for my life. The vampire was still holding onto the hem of my sleeve.
  • "Why are you running?" He yelled after me but I didn't reply. I looked back to check if Master Raga was behind us and he actually was. I let out a yelp and increased my speed. The vampire must have noticed Raga so he left my sleeve and held my hand.
  • "I have no choice but to do this right now." He told me as his grip on my hand tightened. "Bare with me,"
  • What other choice do I have?
  • I nodded at him and faster than I could blink, he pulled me into his arms and took off with me at full speed. The wind blew harshly over my face and I held onto him tighter as his speed increased. It got to a point I couldn't see what was before me. It amused me how he could figure out where to turn to and pass.
  • I could only hold onto him, close my eyes, and trust that he would take us to safety. Sometime later, I felt the wind around me slow down and I didn't feel like I was in a tornado anymore. I opened one of my eyes and realized we were no longer at the market. I looked around us but I couldn't find Raga.
  • "We're safe now,"
  • I looked up at his face and got caught in his silver orbs. How can a creature so evil be so beautiful at the same time? If he was a normal wolf, I wouldn't think twice before accepting him as my mate. Unfortunately...
  • "I wouldn't be responsible for what happens if you keep staring at me like that," his voice snapped me out of my trance. My eyes widened at how close his face was to mine. I batted my eyelashes in shock and cleared my throat.
  • I wiggled out of his grip and landed on the ground. I almost sprained my leg upon landing. He is so far from the ground. Just how tall is he?
  • "Seven foot three inches," he said.
  • "Huh?"
  • "You asked how tall I was."
  • "Did I say that out loud?"
  • "Um...yeah,"
  • I knitted my brows in confusion. Did I say that out loud? But it didn't seem like I did.
  • "Where are we?" I asked him as I began to walk forward. There was nothing around except a few houses that looked discarded for a very long time.
  • "The old base of the pack," He said, "Whitepeak Pack was here before disaster struck," he explained.
  • "I see,"
  • "Who was that?" He asked, coming to stand beside me.
  • "Who?"
  • "The man we ran from."
  • My face fell as I remembered Raga. "That was Master Raga. The head of Raven Pack's warriors. Alpha Darco must have sent him." I turned to him, "how did he know this place in the first place? Did you leave clues?"
  • He frowned thoughtfully, "I don't..." He trailed off and realization dawned on his face. "I think I did,"
  • I facepalmed myself, "expected from a hybrid. You guys are strong but not very smart,"
  • "Excuse me?" He sounded offended, which pleased me. "We are one of the most intelligent species in the world," he said smugly and I snorted.
  • "And who told you that?"
  • He cocked his brows, "statistics?"
  • "Ah!" I laughed jestingly. "Did you just say statistics? Those can be wrong. The same statistics say vampires are one of the most breathtaking creatures to ever walk the earth,"
  • He shrugged, "they aren't wrong."
  • "They are very wrong. I've felt more repulsed than bewitched by the likes of you," I said truthfully and he smirked.
  • "That's a lie." He sounded so sure.
  • "What do you mean?"
  • He stopped walking and faced me. "Sure, you've felt repulsed but you can't deny the fact that one particular hybrid caught your eye," he said, closing the distance between us.
  • "And by hybrid, you mean..?"
  • He leaned his face closer, our noses almost touching. "Me,"
  • I eyed him in disbelief. I almost laughed.
  • "You?" I taunted, moving my face closer to his. "You're not even close."
  • I pushed him off and walked away with my arms folded.
  • "Wait up! Do you even know the way back home?" He yelled after me.
  • "I can find my way!" I yelled back. Who knows? I might find a way to escape from here. I can see a river from her. There should be boats going away from here, right?
  • But would it be possible to escape from here with this vampire beside me? Or should I tell him I want to use the toilet and escape that way?
  • Suddenly, he let out a chuckle.
  • "What's funny?" I questioned.
  • He shook his head, still chuckling. "Nothing. You're just...so funny. It's cute."
  • That was so unexpected. I didn't say anything funny. Has he gone crazy? Maybe he has.
  • I ignored him and continued to walk. For some reason, he never left my side. I was hoping he would walk ahead of me or something.
  • Just then, he held the hem of my sleeve.
  • "What?"
  • "So you won't run away."
  • I frowned. "I never said I was."
  • He smiled lopsidedly, "I basically bundled you from your pack to come to my pack despite your refusal,"
  • I shrugged. "True."
  • "So it's no doubt you're thinking of running off right now."
  • "But I could also be thinking of returning to your pack to rest. I'm quite tired." I feigned tiredness. "I didn't even get to eat," I said poutingly as I rubbed my stomach.
  • I raised my gaze to his face to see if he was buying my act and it seemed like he was. He looked worried.
  • "You'll get to eat when we get home, don't worry," he assured and I nodded.
  • Maybe this tactic would work. I'll act as if I'm warming up to him and when he least expects it, I'll run away.
  • You wouldn't know what hit you, Akira.
