• I could not say them. The words were thick in my mouth and unsure. I could feel it in my chest, tight just thinking about letting them out into the air. But my head kept drifting to that moment, the moment I went down. Ripped from my lungs, my wings were not good enough for the force hauling me down. And it was the dragon, its huge form, those piercing eyes that saw through me, that was the last thing I had seen before the ground had rushed up to meet me.
