Chapter 4

  • INDIGO.
  • He dumped a book on my desk and I lifted my gaze from my table, "You don't have materials, I have arranged for someone to get a locker for you everything you need will be inside, in the mean study of this book" He enunciated and I nodded glad that he wa still talking to me.
  • I headed for the door after that with the book in my hand, I was thinking about what do now and I absentmindedly reached for the door but the moment I opened it, something came barrelling into my head.
  • That familiar scent, I lifted my gaze.
  • "Gage?" I asked in shock and my eyes couldn't believe it,
  • "Indie?" He whispered before clearing his throat, "You're here." He said like he was expecting me.
  • "Yeah, I am." I replied shyly shutting the door to the classroom before Valtor sees us, Gage is a friend from my childhood and I remembered that he left without saying goodbye, he changed a lot abd he is no longer the little boy that use to chase me in the woods.
  • He was sixteen then and I was only ten but he was nice to me and he is one of the few people who cared about me back then, I couldn't even remember why we had been separated but maybe it's because he just vanished.
  • "What are you doing here?" He asked her, and I arch my brows in confusion.
  • Is he not happy to see me?
  • "I go to school here now. There was a war...and then, I was brought here by this Alpha- I think Lyriq was his name." His eyes widens as I mentioned Lyriq.
  • He must know him judging from the look on his face, I guess Lyriq isn't that friendly if he is surprised he brought me here.
  • "Oh," He mumbled with furrowed brows as I finished explaining what happened, I even told him after the Sanctum and he seemed unbothered by that, I was being talkative because I finally found someone I knew and there is something about this handsome version of Gage.
  • "So have you gotten your schedule?" He questioned as we kept walking,
  • "Seeing that the other Alpha dumped me at the front of this class and suddenly left, I would say...no." I snickered lightly and he stared at me with a strange glint in his eyes, "Gage, are you alright?" I asked puzzled by the look on his face.
  • He nodded with a small smile "Yeah, I'm okay. We should get your schedule so it would be easier to move around. Who knows if you'd have training with me, huh?" He laughed and bumped my shoulder, a zap of electricity crosses through my body.
  • What was that?
  • "Thank you, Gage. You've been the only person nice to me since I came here. I don't even know my dorm room. I feel like such a fool." I pouted,
  • "It's okay. We'll just get it now."
  • We approached the office of the headmaster's office and he stopped, I blinked back at him with wide eyes,
  • "You're not going to be coming in?" I asked, call me stupid but I'm happy I found someone I can be comfortable with, these people are scary and I don't mind relaying on Gage for now.
  • "Oh, if you want me to then-"
  • "Yes, please." I whined and he chuckled before pinching my cheeks, "Alright if you say so"
  • He knocked and a voice admitted us in, the short but buff man sat on the chair opposite us, his spectacles rested on his nose as he observed some papers.
  • "Alpha Gage. Welcome, what can I do for you? I heard some of your students got stuck dreamwalking." The man said.
  • Alpha Gage?!
  • "Correct, I was going to see Valtor about it when I met this lady, she's a new student and she told me that she hasn't gotten her schedule." Gage replied.
  • "Name?" the short man asked.
  • "Indigo Lakspur." I responded too stunned to say anything else,
  • "Oh, the one Alpha Lyriq brought. I was wondering when you were going to show up. Here, have this, your dorm room number and schedule is right there." He stretched out a paper to me and I collected it, murmuring a small 'thank you' I guess Lyriq isn't so bad after all.
  • The moment we were out, I released the breath I was holding.
  • "C'mon. That wasn't so bad." Gage/Alpha Gage chuckled
  • "Yeah. You're an alpha?" I asked letting my curiosity get the best of me.
  • "Yes. My father died a while ago." He replied,
  • "Oh." I went silent for a moment, "So most of you here-"
  • I didn't want to pry on his personal affairs and seeing that he gave such a curt explanation, I let it go.
  • "Yes, we are all alphas. And of course, volunteer teachers." He shrugged,
  • "Wow. That's so...awesome." I smiled at him, I couldn't help bit to feel weak with this information, I'm wolfless in the midst of powerful Alphas and students.
  • "Yeah, it is."
  • "I don't know why Alpha Valtor dislikes me though." I began, "He said I'm his mate and that's impossible because I don't have a wolf. But I feel attracted to him and even Alpha Lyriq."
  • "Your mate?" He asked picking that word from what I just said,
  • "Yes, I don't even understand anymore." I buried my face in my hands frustrated and embarrassed,
  • "Calm down." He patted my back slowly and all my worries melted away, I don't know why his touch is so soothing.
  • "So you like Lyriq?" Gage asked slowly.
  • "I don't know. He treats me- my body wants him. I feel weird whenever I'm around him." I confessed.
  • "This feels like a glitch. But Lyriq or Valtor might actually be your mates." He stated in a flat tone,
  • "But is it possible. How can I have two mates?" I was confused by this,
  • "About the way they treat you... Lyriq doesn't care about people. He's been a loner for a long time now, so don't take it personally. That's just how it is. It doesn't mean you're not his mate." He expressed and I wondered if he is close with Lyriq.
  • "He was hostile to me-" I responded,
  • "Exactly what I meant. He's hostile to everyone. And Valtor doesn't particularly care about anyone. He doesn't like people. His dedication is for work only, and that includes being the alpha of his pack and teaching here at the academy, Besides that, I don't think he really does anything else." He said and I sighed.
  • "You know, if the moon goddess was to even give me two mates, why didn't she give me mates that actually cared about me?" My eyes turned glossy, "The war destroyed everything. My family...pack, and now... I'm stuck here in this academy where my mates hate me."
  • "What do you mean, Indie? They can't ignore the mate bond-"
  • I chuckled sarcastically waving off his words, "Yes, of course. But deep down, you know they hate the idea of me."
  • He took my hand and put it in his, gently curling my fingers over his larger ones. A bead of tear dropped down my cheek and he used his other hand to wipe it off,
  • "I care about you," I proclaimed softly,
  • "Yes, we were friends before-"
  • "No, Indie. I'm your mate.”
