Chapter 7

  • CHAPTER SEVEN
  • VALTOR’S POV
  • “You managed to scare her away.” I said more to myself than anyone else, “You know very well I was not going to harm her in any way.”
  • “You say that.” Lyriq scoffed.
  • “You know that.” I glared at him from the corner of my eye. His back was against me, hands on his waist, I could sense his contemplation.
  • “You're thinking the same thing, aren't you Lyriq?”
  • “Shut it! I'm trying to think.” He gave a low growl and I smiled. Oddly happy at his frustration.
  • “It's hard to accept the fact we're both her mates isn't it? And both very very attracted to her.”
  • “I already have a hard time accepting that I have a mate to begin with.” He finally spoke out, turning to face me. “Now given one I have to share?”
  • I never phantomed the thought of two naked men having a heart to heart.
  • “Beats me…I'm fine with or without one but the wolf in me is speaking way louder than I want it to. And I will shamelessly admit I want her to be mine. All mine.”
  • I got the acidic scent of malice and a grin came to me.
  • “You better not let your all-so outstanding feelings get in the way of our mission, Valtor. We still remain loyal to the sanctum.”
  • Of course that was what he'd say. I was painfully aware that this man disliked me and I wasn't so hot about him either. But given the fact we were both teachers and members of the sanctum, peace between our packs was a given but didn't necessarily assure any solid personal relations.
  • Plus he was a coward.
  • “If you can't fight back, better not start anything Lyriq.”
  • “Tch…” He hissed against his teeth before exiting the room. I looked around the messy room and a sigh escaped my mouth.
  • “Riven…” I closed my eyes and called out my Delta till I felt his presence in our interlink.
  • “What can I do for you Alpha Valtor?” A calm submissive voice finally responded.
  • “Indigo Larkspur…everything in her dorm should be changed, there was a little–incident. Send people and oh, take care of Winter for me.”
  • “I believe Winter wasn't the one who spread word in academy Alpha.”
  • “Oh?” I sounded with a raised brow. “Who was it then?” I felt a sinister growl from the depths of my belly as my blood began to boil.
  • “One of Lady Brooke’s lackeys, I happened to get word of it.”
  • Lady Brooke? A sudden rain poured on my heated mind. Why would Lady Brooke cause such trouble? She was one of the elderly and powerful women in the sanctum with elemental powers. She seemed to have little to no interest in the girl so what was her reason to do such a thing?
  • “Does any other person know this?” I asked with a sense of darkness in my voice.
  • “No, Alpha.”
  • “Keep it that way.” I ended the interlink and now that it was mentioned, it had been a minute since I showed up at the sanctum. Teaching could get so busy.
  • I headed back to my pack for a change of clothes and to pay Miss Brooke a … “little visit”. But oddly, throughout my journey, I couldn't take my mind off a certain redhead.
  • It was funny how mate bonds worked…I could still feel her, every inch of her and the thoughts of touching and uncovering every nook and cranny of her body was like breathing to me.
  • “Alpha…” Riven greeted me as he came to welcome me back. “We weren't expecting you tonight Alpha. You should have let me know.”
  • Considering the distance between the Academy and the West side pack, an accomodation was made for the Alphas, a lone studio, much on the fancy side.
  • We could go and come as we pleased.
  • “My apologies, Riven. I just wanted to pay Lady Brooke a visit.”
  • “You intend to meet her Alpha?”
  • I nodded slowly…thinking to myself.
  • “I want to get to the bottom of why she sent her lackeys coming for Indigo.”
  • “You care for the girl?” Riven asked with a straight face and a tilted head. He must have been astonished, the only person I could ever go out of my way for was my own mother.
  • And she was dead.
  • “She's my mate, if my wolf wants her so do I. And I will ensure her protection.”
  • “But everything the Sanctum wants is against her protection, Alpha Valtor.” He so easily stated the words I was running away from for my very life since I realized my strong attraction to Indigo.
  • “I'll deal with that when the time comes, Riven.”
  • “You're playing with a deadly fire Alpha.”
  • With no more words, I blended with the darkness of the night and vanished into my room releasing a breath of air I had been holding–Shadow powers had its perks.
  • Riven was a Delta but his straight forwardness and lack of emotion sent chills even down my spine.
  • The Sanctum’s location was kept top secret and only known between its members. To make that easier a path was made underneath each Alpha's pack leading right to the heart of the sanctum.
  • Very convenient I'd say.
  • It didn't take me long to reach the depths of the dungeon and make my way to the sanctuary.
  • A large iron gate protected its entrance and I had the key to unlock it. Pockets shoved in my pants quietly walking along the path way…the devil came out to play.
  • “Well, isn't it Valtor? What finally brings you here? There's not even a meeting.” Brooke asked, looking closely at me. I assumed in her younger years, beauty might have been an understatement if she managed to roll up a number of men with her now soft features and crows feet here and there.
  • “I actually came to see you, Lady Brooke.”
  • “Oh is that so? What would you like to discuss?”
  • “What exactly do you have against Indigo Larkspur?”
