Chapter 7 They meet again
- Roselie walked into her living room. The manor was divided into several suits. Each suite was like a flat. Based on their ranking each wolf family got their living quarters. As the second-ranking Betas, Rosalie's father had a luxuriously furnished suit. Though it wasn't as opulent as the Alpha's quarter it was still better than most others.
- Amelia Murdoch, smiled at her daughter, as Roselie squirmed in her figure-hugging red bodycon dress. It was sleeveless with a deep V at the back.
- "You look beautiful," Amelia whispered, with misty eyes.
- Roselie rolled her eyes, "are you done now? This is why you were looking for me? A stupid dress?"
- "Rose, it's a very expensive limited edition dress, thankfully I managed to find it online." She beamed.
- "Dad needs to put a stop to your online shopping!" Roselie grumbled.
- "One day you will thank me, young lady," Amelia said sternly, wagging her finger.
- She took out another shimmering blue gown and waved it in front of Roselie.
- "It's your dress for the reception," she said excitedly as she gave the dress to Roselie, "come on try it on."
- Roselie shook her head in frustration.
- "Mom! It's not my wedding !" she said exasperatedly. "I don't need to dress up."
- "Nonsense!" Amelia said. "There's going to be a lot of eligible bachelors, tomorrow sweetie," she said with a sugary smile. "You're 18 years old now; it's time for you to find a boyfriend or a mate."
- That was the last thing Roselie wanted. She just had her heart broken by her mate. And her mother was playing the matchmaker. She had no idea that Roselie was never going to find her mate. She had already found him, got dumped and all she has left was a shattered soul.
- Unaware of her daughter's misery, Amelia was planning for the ceremonies. She loved to show off her status and position during ceremonies. she wasn't haughty or arrogant. Just a little vain.
- In her opinion, weddings were a perfect opportunity to dress up her beautiful daughter and make other mothers jealous.
- "Mom you expect me to flirt with guys? Seriously? Dad would skin them alive!"
- "Your dad would do no such thing. If he wants his daughter respectably mated."
- Roselie sighed and looked at her mother's happy and excited face. Her parents loved her, her mom just wanted the best for her. Roselie touched the blue satin gown.
- "Ok, I will wear it, mom." Roselie smiled at her.
- Her mother loved her dearly, she knew that.
- 'Just because I got rejected, I shouldn't be making my parents miserable. They would be heartbroken if they knew what had happened. They cant even defy the Alpha, that would mean execution or banishment. ' Roselie shuddered at the thought. Banishment meant they would be thrown out of the pack. Wolves need a pack to survive. Most lone wolves either died or turn rogue. She couldn't do that to her parents.
- She slipped into the blue dress and her mother gushed, " you look so beautiful! I am sure you will overshadow the bride !"
- Roselie snorted. "That would be rude !"
- Amelia looked pleased with her choice and passed her strappy heels, to match the dress. Roselie sighed and took the heels.
- **********
- As the morning dawned wolves in the silver moon pack were busy with a flurry of activities. Everyone was either giggling or planning what they would wear for the ceremony. Roselie walked through the corridors with a heavy heart. Each time she tried to stop crying, a fresh set of tears would spill from her eyes. She'd never felt more alone and had never been betrayed by a person this way before. No one had prepared her. Roselie did her best to keep her emotions under control once the guests started arriving. She bathed and dressed in a yellow summer dress. She had been assigned the duty of showing the guests to their rooms.
- She tried to be pleasant to the guests that arrived, showing them to their suites and taking care of additional accommodations, but all she wanted to do was cry.
- "I hear the guests are very pleased with the rooms." Her father beamed.
- Roselie couldn't help but smile at him. He was proud of his position and had taken care of the arrangements very carefully.
- "Of course, dad you have done a wonderful job." Roselie smiled. Scott Murdoch nodded and left for the grand hall.
- Once she was alone, Roselie began to hurt again. She tried to shake away the feeling and focus on her duties, so she took the long walk to the western wing of the manor, which contained the suits for the Alphas.
- She entered one of the grand suits, trying her hardest to keep from crying. She released her hair from her ponytail, allowing it to flow down her back. She tied the ribbon as a band around the top of her head. She liked the way it looked and smiled weakly at her reflection.
- She crossed the lounge and opened the double doors to the bedroom. The bed was inviting, with its rich dark tones and fine fabrics.
- She began removing the decorator pillows and replacing them with sleeping pillows. One of the omegas had ignored their job, the room was still not prepared.
- She turned down the sheets and comforter, trying not to think of Chris. Eventually, she couldn't contain her emotions any longer, and she began to cry. She felt very physical pain in her heart and felt like she might get sick. But at that moment, she didn't care. She was sobbing so loud that she didn't even realize there was a second person in the room.
- "Now why is a girl as lovely as you crying?" a deep male voice said.
- Roselie hiccupped in surprise and quickly wiped her face, trying to locate the speaker.
- He was standing in the doorway in a white tee and jeans. He was tall and incredibly masculine, well-built and powerful looking. He had thick black hair. Dark, expressive eyebrows sat atop deep-set, steel grey eyes. His jaw and chin were broad and hard. To Roselie, he looked dangerously handsome and familiar.
- "I'm so sorry sir, I was just...preparing the rooms for bed. I did not know you would be here so early," she stammered. He slowly stepped closer to her, and Roselie began feeling incredibly tiny in comparison to him.
- "It's no problem, Roselie," he said. His steely eyes seemed to see right through her, and she looked at him in surprise. Suddenly, she remembered him.
- "Alex Greyson.......I mean Alpha Alex !" She said softly.
- "Finally, you remembered me," he smiled.
- "I apologize for disturbing you, sir. I will leave—"
- "You're not going anywhere," He interrupted. Roselie's eyes widened.
- "Pardon?" she asked. He smiled and removed his jacket.
- "I said, you are not going anywhere. You are going to tell me what made a beautiful girl cry. And I am going to do whatever I can to help," he said softly. Roselie shook her head.
- "That is very kind of you, but I have to finish a lot of work," Roselie answered.
- "Just for a few minutes, Roselie. Why were you crying?" Alex asked.
- She wondered what to say. She couldn't tell about her love. It would be like betraying the Alpha.
- "It's nothing really, my mom was mad at me because I didn't wear the dress she bought for me. We fought and I was feeling guilty over it." She lied, making up an imaginary story.
- "There there, sweetheart....that's nothing to cry over." He said, tenderly stroking her back.
- "Thank you, sir. I am feeling much better now." Roselie said, coiling away from him. His touch made her feel weird. Her wolf had stopped mourning for their mate and she was suddenly alert, observing the new man curiously.
- "Thats good," he eyed her for a few seconds. "You have grown well, Miss Roselie."
- She looked up and couldn't help blushing at his compliment.
- "It has been years since we met," Alex continued, his voice held an aura of confidence.
- She couldn't help but note how those few years had changed him. He looked very handsome and strong. His body rippled with enough masculinity that made him looked manly yet youthful. He didn't look like those strange over-muscled. But strong and intimidating to others who would dare to challenge him.
- "How have you been Alex ?" She finally asked.
- "Well as ever," He answered. "But you look stunning, Roselie," she blushed.
- "Perhaps we shall talk again tonight at the Union," he said, "Catch up on old and new things, eh?" He grinned.
- She seemed to have lost her voice, so she just nodded.
- "See you later Roselie," he nodded.
- "See you, Alex," she smiled back at him and left the guest room. She walked away in a daze.
- 'what the hell just happened ?' she thought. She had never felt like that ever since she had first imprinted on Chris.
- 'It's nothing! He would never like a girl like me, I am too plain,' she thought.
