Chapter 4 Confession
- Melissa grabbed Roselie's hand and brought her attention to the stage.
- "The coronation's about to start." Then she turned towards the other table.
- "That's Alpha Greyson, he's so hot! But why is he looking at us? Do you think he likes me?" Melissa gushed.
- Roselie snorted, "you think too highly of yourself. Why would he like us? He is an Alpha and much older than us, but he is nice." Roselie said while primming her skirt. Indeed, Alex was looking in their direction with an amused smile.
- Chris Reynolds kneeled on a platform that was about a foot from the ground. One of the Four Councilmen stood in front of him with an open ancient-looking scroll. Chris held a golden goblet on the same level as his face. The holy moonlight from the open circular ceiling above him washed him with its silvery moonlight.
- The chamber was silent for once as the councilman poured some kind of a red-golden liquid into the goblet. Roselie sniffed the air but couldn't detect what kind of aroma it was. He started to say the ancient bonding words, "The holy moon watches over us, protects us, cares for us and saves us. The holy moon chooses her warriors, her saviour of peace. The holy moon chooses our leader and places thy fate in thy blood that flows on thy veins," he paused, "Do thee, Christopher William Reynolds, son of Malcolm William Reynolds, take thy rightful place as the alpha of Silverstone ?"
- "Yes, I agree." Chris's voice started to get louder, "I, Christopher William Reynolds, swear by the Luna, and by drinking of this blessed wine, to be the alpha of the Silvermoon Pack." He said and finished the goblet in one shot.
- The Pack members howled in their wolf forms, bowing their heads on their front paws, and then rolled over to show their bellies in submission. The coronation ceremony was a short one but the night was still young as there was still the feast to enjoy.
- **************
- Roselie and Melissa were stuffing their mouths with the assortment of titbits, arranged for the feast. Their mothers had given them a strict warning to stay out of trouble, so that's what they were doing. Sitting quietly and eating.
- "I wonder which lucky girl would be his mate," Melissa said, eyeing Chris wistfully.
- "Maybe we should flirt with him? We might bag us an alpha!" Melissa chirped.
- "Melissa, you're so disgusting! We can't flirt with the Alpha," Roselie admonished her. The fact was she didnt like anyone flirting with Chris at all. She felt an odd sort of jealousy whenever she spotted Chris with other females. Like right now he was sitting with Lisa, the daughter of Alpha Richard Dawson of the Hanlon pack, he was also one of the council members hence an extremely important person. However, Lisa was insufferable. Rosalie dreaded the day if she is their next Luna.
- "He is 18 already. Do you think they are mates?" Melissa asked.
- "How would I know? He has not revealed his mate yet. We don't know if he has found one yet, but I hope it's not Lisa." Rosalie whispered conspiratorily.
- "Of course! that would be a disaster!" Melissa replied.
- Ducking back behind the crowd of people, Roselie silently observed Chris and Lisa. He often hung around with his friends doing cool young adult stuff which Roselie wasn't allowed to do. As the new Alpha, he had extra attention from all the females.
- "Why is it that every time we try to hang out with you, that annoying omega is always there!"
- Roselie froze, Lisa was referring to her! Was it that apparent?
- "Well, there's nothing I can do to make her stop. Besides, you follow me around too and I don't complain." Chris shrugged.
- "Well that's not the same, and you know it," she sniffed then pouted prettily, leaning on Chris's shoulder. "I'm your girl, aren't I? We're supposed to be seen together."
- Chris growled low at that and Lisa looked up startled as he bit out, "what my pack members do is none of your business. You will not speak ill of anyone from my pack again."
- Roselie's heart swelled at the obvious snub to Lisa and his defence of her following him around.
- Chris shrugged and sipped his iced tea, Lisa's face clouded a little at the non-committing gesture, but she smoothed it back out and said, "well I won't approve of it in future when we are mated".
- Chris's face twisted in disgust as he said, "First of all Lisa I never implied we were getting mated so who follows me around shouldn't concern you..."
- Roselie could have jumped for joy knowing that she didn't have to deal with the cruel and uptight Lisa for the rest of her life. Deciding that there was no reason to spy around she decided to leave.
- She turned around and ran off towards her house not looking back at the chaos that ensued after Chris's rebuke. Lisa threw a tantrum and had to be carried off by her friends.
- If Rosalie would've turned back she'd have seen both of Lisa friends holding onto her. Chris's friend rolling on the ground struggling to control his laughter.
- "Roselie!" Chris called after her as she was running towards her home. Roselie stopped and turned to face her Alpha. She was surprised, he had never talked to her in privacy.
- "You look absolutely beautiful as always," Chris said as he arrived near her.
- Roselie blushed, and mumbled thanks, unaware that he was looking at her glowingly.
- She gasped slightly when he took her hand, she looked up at him wide-eyed.
- "There is something I need to tell you."
- He stopped short and looked away releasing her hands.
- "You are my mate."
- Her hand went to her mouth as she slowly shook her head looking down and away. Not able to process this she leaned back against the tree massaging her temples.
- "How? I mean I'm an omega, and you are the Alpha....the council won't allow it." Roselie said in shock.
- "You will find out when you turn 18, I knew it the day I turned 18. My wolf knows, but... I was just waiting for the right opportunity."
- He ran his hand through his sandy brown curls which sprung back into place before saying with a defeated laugh, "Honestly I didn't want to tell you yet....... It's going to be complicated."
- "One day I overheard some of the guys saying how cute you were getting and how hot you'd be when you got older and I wanted to kill everyone. God, I almost hurt YOU that day!"
- She shook her head saying, "I don't understand, no one ever told me I was cute or at least showed me that they were interested. Especially none of your friends!"
- He looked kind of abashed at that looking down and muttering, "Well I kind of told them all to stay away from you. Every time they showed interest in you to deter them from approaching you."
- He smirked but quickly grew sombre and said "I don't expect you to return my feelings now, but I am going to wait till you turn 18. You will know then. I don't want you to feel obligated to respond just so you don't hurt my feelings, and I am not a paedophile so we are not going any further than friends right now, ok?"
- She looked him over for a few seconds before she nodded and sighed deeply trying to process all that was going on. She knew he was right, even though she was 15 she wasn't so immature. She knew what he wanted, what he said made sense.
- This new information was confusing her and even though she tried she couldn't seem to keep up with it. She was content to wait and see what her feelings would settle into with this new development. She always had a crush on him. But being mates was completely different. Besides Alphas only mated with other Alphas or Betas. She wasn't a Beta yet. She had no idea how the future would unfold.
