Chapter 24

  • Mortis walked back and forth, his voice low, deep, and almost a whisper, “If an assassin plans to kill him, then let it come! Do you think it would matter? He brought this upon himself, taking lives after lives, blindly walking on shard after bloody shard, piercing bullet after bullet to people he can’t even see clearly anymore. If he ends up dead the next day, that’s on him!”
  • Simon stood quietly with his head tilted low and his hands tightly clenched. If there was one thing he wanted to do in this life, that was to protect Giovanni. He owed this man a lot. From the beginning, ever since he was a child tossed by his own mother and almost killed by his own father, Giovanni was there. He saved Simon and never once betrayed him like everybody else did.
  • Everything happened too fast. The person who was confidently talking was pushed down and tied by a rope. Mortis glared at Simon, “This is outrageous! I’m warning you, Simon. You’re only going to make this worse than it should be. You’re only seeking your own death!”
