Chapter 1

  • Prologue
  • A tall man with a visible dragon tattoo on his neck stood at the top of a rooftop, his hair disheveled, his eyes red. He was carrying a gun and pointing it ahead – toward two people: one man and one woman.
  • “Drop your gun if you want her alive!” The man said as he held the woman closer.
  • The cold, metallic weapon touched Andrea’s head. She stood still, eyes looking at the man ten meters away from her and the kidnapper.
  • Giovanni Michaelis’s eyes turned colder. Nevertheless, he tossed his gun to the side like nothing. “Now let her go.”
  • The kidnapper looked around. “Order your men to pull back and leave!”
  • Giovanni remained motionless. Around them, there were indeed about five or so men stationed discreetly from the other buildings. One signal from Giovanni and they would all come in an instant.
  • Suddenly, Andrea chuckled. “It’s just one bullet. If I die, I’ll die. If not, then I’m lucky.”
  • Both Giovanni and the kidnapper looked at Andrea with wide eyes. How could she easily speak such words? Did she really want to die?
  • “Don’t move or I’ll shoot!” The kidnapper exclaimed.
  • Even Giovanni’s tone was dangerously dark as he scolded her: “Don’t you dare say that again!”
  • Scolded by two men, Andrea felt wronged. But when she looked at Giovanni’s face, she decided to swallow down all the sarcastic words. She would just tell them later once this ordeal was over.
  • Trying to pacify the kidnapper, Giovanni ordered his men to leave – each one of them disappearing into the premise. Then he quickly turned to the kidnapper again. “Tell me what you want and I’ll give it to you. Just let her go so we can discuss it properly.”
  • The kidnapper looked at Giovanni as if he was contemplating his words. He held Andrea’s arm tighter which caused Andrea to whimper, “Ouch!”
  • Giovanni’s eyebrows twitched, his eyes beginning to turn red.
  • The kidnapper didn’t know why but that look made him sweat. Who would’ve thought Giovanni Michaelis, this mafia boss that made everyone tremble to their knees, had a very soft spot for his daughter?
  • Wearing the prestigious high school uniform, Andrea noticed the kidnapper looking at her and Giovanni oddly. “What is it?” She asked.
  • Not wanting to admit he was weirded by the teenager’s eccentricity, the kidnapper coldly laughed and pointed his weapon at Giovanni and Andrea back and forth. “Who would’ve thought the great Boss Giovanni has a weakness? Ha, I wonder what the upper table will do once they learn of this!”
  • “....”
  • “You’re asking me what I want? It’s quite simple. Sign an oath to release my brother in Phoenix Prison! Sign it along with both our lives spared for life! Do it now or else, I will kill your daughter right here in front of your very own eyes!”
  • Andrea froze and a glint of something bright flashed across Giovanni’s eyes.
  • Then suddenly, Andrea’s body began to shake. But it wasn’t because she was afraid but because she started to giggle that quickly erupted into a burst of full-blown laughter. It took a lot of restraint from the kidnapper not to shoot her as she kept laughing and shaking her head.
  • He threatened her darkly, “Don’t move or I’m really going to shoot your head!”
  • Andrea rolled her eyes. “Oh, yeah? Now that you say it like that, I think I do remember you now. Your name is Enrico Fernandez, right? Your brother in Igneous Prison, it must be Raul Fernandez, the mighty and honorable leader of the Phoenix Fire Campaign that happened six years ago.”
  • The kidnapper was stunned, disbelief written all over his face. “H-How... How did you know...”
  • “What you wish can be done by Giovanni immediately,” Andrea said as she glanced over at him. “Right?”
  • Before Giovanni could speak, she continued, “But before that, I want to clarify something first. Listen carefully, okay? Giovanni is not my father.”
  • Enrico Fernandez frowned. “Shut up!”
  • “You shut up,” Giovanni said, eyes visibly red, his hands tightly clenched. Then like a lightning bolt, he appeared in front of Enrico, stole the gun from him, and tossed it far away until it landed outside the rooftop. In a huge, hard kick, Enrico stumbled and fell to the ground.
  • “Took you too long,” Andrea said with a smile. Then she glanced at Enrico who was still groaning in pain on the ground. “Remember this well so you won’t piss him off again. I’m not Giovanni’s daughter. I’m his wife. Understand?”
  • Enrico’s face went white. Like hell, anyone would believe that?! This woman in her high school uniform was obviously lying!
  • Giovanni glared at Enrico, making him and his thoughts shut up. Then he grabbed Andrea’s hand, “Let’s leave this place.”
  • Andrea smiled. “Okay, Daddy.”
  • Giovanni sneered. “Shut up.”
