Chapter 7 United Until The End

  • The most crucial realization dawned upon Levell. He and his younger brother had never known the tender embrace of a mother since birth!
  • Was it possible? Could he truly be the flesh and blood of the woman he had known as his mother?
  • A surge of excitement stirred within his heart as he resolved to uncover the truth.
  • Noticing Levell's silence, Allacia suddenly realized her oversight. Levell was still in the carefree innocence of childhood and shouldn't be burdened with such concerns.
  • With the heavy burden of Denea's illness weighing heavily on her mind, Allacia found it unbearable to impose any further troubles upon Levell. Thus, Levell took the initiative to bid her a reluctant farewell.
  • When Allacia opened the door, her gaze fell upon a sleek black Rolls-Royce parked not far away, its imposing presence resembling that of a predatory beast. From within, a hand with distinct knuckles extended, holding a cigarette between its fingertips. Through the swirling smoke, she caught sight of a pair of deep, cold eyes exuding danger and aggression.
  • It was Zishan!
  • Allacia quickly averted her gaze, her heart pounding erratically within her chest.
  • "Levell, your father is here. I won't accompany you any further," she hurriedly informed him, attempting to mask her unease.
  • "Alright, thank you for everything, Mommy," Levell responded with a mixture of gratitude and reluctance as he bid farewell to her.
  • He paused for a moment. Then, he reached out to clasp her hand tenderly before she turned away.
  • "Mommy, actually, the reason I came this time was to invite you and Denea to my birthday party. You're the only friends I have…" His voice trailed off before he continued, "I understand you're upset about Denea being sick, and if you decline, I can comprehend."
  • Allacia's heart clenched at the sight of his hopeful yet cautious gaze. Unable to bear the thought of refusing him, she felt a lump form in her throat.
  • "Levell, I promise we'll make it to your birthday party with Denea," she promised, her voice soft and emotional.
  • "Yay! Thank you, Mommy!" he exclaimed, his excitement noticeable as he handed over the invitation card and stole a quick peck on her cheek.
  • "Mommy, on the day of my birthday, I'll come to pick you up, okay? Don't be late," he added, his eyes sparkling with anticipation, before bounding off with youthful energy.
  • Allacia watched him disappear into the distance before finally making her way back to the apartment.
  • Inside the car, Levell's face was alight with joy, his excitement infectious.
  • Zishan cast a casual glance in his direction, his tone cool and detached. "Why didn't you let her accompany you here?"
  • "Huh? What?" Levell paused as he suddenly understood the underlying implication of Zishan's question.
  • "Daddy, you miss Mommy, don't you? If you want to see her, you can go find her yourself," he replied, his words tinged with a hint of innocence and understanding.
  • It's no surprise that Dad has been personally chauffeuring me to find Mommy these past few days. Evidently, he has an ulterior motive. Levell mused.
  • Zishan's expression stiffened, his voice heavy with retort, "Who says I miss her?"
  • Levell blinked innocently, and his wide eyes brimmed with curiosity, "If you don't miss her, then why did you ask Mommy to bring me here?"
  • Zishan didn't answer and only gave him a sidelong glance.
  • He leaned down to fasten Levell's seatbelt, initiated the engine, then casually probed, "What did she tell you that brought such joy to your face?"
  • "Hehe, Mommy promised to attend my birthday party."
  • Hmm... Just a few days ago, they had just drawn clear boundaries, and now she's agreeing to attend their son's birthday party. If this isn't playing cat and mouse, what is it? Zishan pondered.
  • His burdened heart gradually lightened after enduring days of internal conflict...
  • "Oh, by the way, Dad, were you... six years ago..." Levell's inquiry was interrupted by the ringing of Zishan's phone. It was Calvin calling.
  • Undoubtedly, Calvin was yearning to hear Levell's voice again.
  • Zishan handed the phone over to Levell, allowing them to engage in conversation, and once the call concluded, Levell's grin widened even further.
  • Excitement rippled through him as he received the news of his grandfather's imminent return to Tralis.
  • Finally, I will be able to personally inquire about my biological mother, he mused happily.
  • "What did you just say about six years ago?" Zishan's curiosity piqued, his gaze fixed on the young child before him.
  • Levell shook his head innocently. "It's nothing. You must have misheard. I just wanted to ask if you like Mommy."
  • Like...
  • The weight of that simple word hung in the air, causing a subtle shift in Zishan's demeanor. Did he truly harbor affection for Allacia? Was his desire to see her merely a manifestation of something deeper?
  • Three days later.
  • On the day of Levell's birthday, Allacia brought the gifts she had prepared long ago, put Denea into a beautiful little dress, and got ready to go out.
  • Just as she opened the door, she was met with an unexpected visitor.
  • "Allacia! Have you had your fill of enjoyment?" Daniel's voice boomed. It was filled with an unmistakable edge of anger and resentment.
  • He stormed in, his temper flaring as he began to wreak havoc, smashing furniture and callously tossing the gift box out the window. His actions shattered the fragile tranquility of the moment.
  • Allacia instinctively shielded Denea behind her, her expression wary. "What are you doing?"
  • A sardonic smile curled his lips as he stepped forward, his eyes cold with disdain at the sight of Denea trembling beside her mother. "What am I doing? I should be asking you the same question. Blocking me, was that your way of luring me back to you?"
  • The contempt in his gaze deepened as he saw Denea, a constant reminder of Allacia's perceived betrayal.
  • He advanced menacingly and seized Allacia's chin in a vice-like grip. "Looking all dolled up, I suppose you're planning to meet another one of your wild men?"
  • "Let go, you monster!"
  • Upon seeing her mother was under attack, Denea rushed forward and used her small fists to hit Daniel's legs. However, she was cruelly kicked aside and collapsed in a trembling heap at his feet.
  • Terrified and in pain, Denea curled into a ball while clutching her stomach.
  • "Denea!" Allacia shoved Daniel away. Her heart was pounding with panic as she rushed to check on Denea's condition.
  • Daniel barked an order to his men to take Denea away.
  • Then, turning his attention back to Allacia, he motioned for his men to restrain her before bundling her into another waiting vehicle.
  • "What on earth are you doing, Daniel?" Allacia's voice quivered with urgency as he started the engine.
  • The car seamlessly merged into the flow of traffic, narrowly passing a black Rolls-Royce.
  • With each passing moment, the vehicle's speed intensified, causing Allacia's heart to pound with nervous apprehension.
  • Daniel persisted in accelerating, his driving veering dangerously close to recklessness. "Allacia! Death or leaving me? Which one will you choose?"
  • Allacia's throat tightened as she struggled to decipher his motives in that tense moment.
  • "You claim to despise me, so why the hesitation?" she challenged, her voice tinged with defiance.
  • Daniel's grip on the steering wheel tightened, and his voice escalated into a furious roar. "Wrong! Allacia, I love you! If it weren't for that incident, my love for you would have endured for eternity! I don't want to harbor resentment toward you, but I can't shake it..."
  • "Daniel, I no longer have feelings for you. Let me go, for the sake of both of us," she implored, her tone pleading.
  • "Haha, then let's meet our end together!" Daniel laughed bitterly.
  • He jerked the steering wheel, only to see a truck barreling toward them head-on and closing in fast.
  • Apartment.
  • Levell and Zishan had been waiting outside the door for hours. With each passing moment, their anxiety deepened as they pondered the whereabouts of Allacia and Denea.
  • Could it be that they are deliberately avoiding my birthday celebration?
  • At the thought of that, Levell's face fell, his eyes brimming with unshed tears as he voiced his distress. "Daddy, am I not lovable enough? Why did Mummy stand us up?"
  • The night grew colder as a gentle breeze whispered through the air, carrying a hint of melancholy.
  • Observing the despondent figure of his son, Zishan's heart clenched with tenderness.
  • He furrowed his brow in concern as he bent down to scoop the small boy into his arms. "Let's not wait any longer and go home. Grandpa is still waiting to celebrate your birthday."
  • "That woman doesn't hold any significance. She's not your real mommy," he continued, his voice tinged with bitterness. "She's just a liar, pretending to care for you when she has her own daughter. How could she genuinely care for someone else's child? Her supposed love for you is nothing more than a facade…"
  • Each word he uttered pierced Levell's heart like a dagger, causing his emotions to spiral out of control as he broke down into sobs.
  • "Daddy, let's go. I don't want to see her ever again!" Levell declared, his voice choked with emotion.
  • With that said, he discarded the carefully prepared flowers intended for Allacia into the trash bin.
