Chapter 9 The Venomous Sect
- "What?"
- The Drug Lord's face paled. "Wasn't the Venomous Sect already eradicated by the Master?"
- "Zephyr Hall had repeatedly believed that the Venomous Sect had been eliminated, but each time, they managed to reemerge. This persistence is one of the reasons why the Venomous Sect remains Zephyr Hall's most formidable foe."
- Dave exhaled slowly. "Rufus, I will address this poison."
- He produced the Zephyr Token and pressed it gently, causing a silver needle to spring forth.
- With deft precision, Dave used the needle to administer numerous injections at various points on Violet's chest and head. Shortly after, a crimson worm began to crawl slowly out of her nose.
- The silver needle then plunged decisively into the crimson worm, turning it into blood that swiftly evaporated into steam, vanishing completely!
- "Rufus, let me continue with the injections. I need my mother-in-law to believe the illness was cured by me," Dave spoke with urgency while continuing to treat Violet.
- The Drug Lord, initially poised to speak, quickly understood Dave's intent.
- "Sure, Dave. Please proceed."
- The Drug Lord complied and watched as Violet's eyes gradually opened.
- Dave administered a few additional injections before withdrawing.
- He approached the door and opened it. "Crystal, you may come in now."
- "Mom? Mom, you're awake!"
- "Violet, y-you're truly awake! This is wonderful!"
- Crystal and Marcus were overjoyed.
- Dave gestured to the Drug Lord and then stepped into the courtyard.
- "Rufus, the real target of the Venomous Sect is Crystal. I prefer not to reveal my identity at this time. I hope to eradicate the Venomous Sect completely."
- Dave had noted last night that Crystal possessed a unique constitution, which was of immense value to him.
- His cultivation technique was distinct, enabling rapid progress but with significant side effects. Crystal's special constitution was perfectly suited to counteract these effects.
- He also realized that this was likely the true reason his master had arranged for him to marry Crystal.
- Yet, Crystal was not only significant to him; her constitution was even more valuable to the Venomous Sect!
- "Dave, Master instructed me to inform you that your wedding was the final matter he arranged in his role as the Lord. From now on, he will no longer interfere. You must make your own decisions," the Drug Lord spoke quietly.
- "Please let Crystal know that I have some personal matters to address. I will return directly to the villa once I am finished."
- Dave gave these instructions before leaving.
- ...
- In the afternoon, at the Granger Residence, Violet sat in the courtyard, feeling unsettled.
- Her cherished daughter had married while she was unconscious. Though Marcus had assured her that Crystal's husband was exceptional—handsome, a junior of the Drug Lord, and a skilled healer—Violet felt uneasy. She vaguely recalled overhearing a conversation while semi-conscious, suggesting that the true savior had been the Drug Lord, and the other person might have been an imposter.
- At that moment, a servant approached. "Mrs. Granger, Miss Davis is here to visit Miss Granger. She claims to be a friend of Mr. Dave."
- "Please have her come in," Violet instructed after a moment of thought.
- A minute later.
- "Hello, Mrs. Granger. My name is Jessie Davis."
- Jessie was elegantly dressed.
- "Hello, Miss Davis. Please, take a seat."
- Violet smiled warmly. "Crystal had to rush off to handle something at the office. I understand you are a friend of Crystal's new husband… that is, Dave?"
