Chapter 14 Trap
- "Ms. Granger, there's a saying: if you can't beat them, join them," Kaala spoke with a serious expression. "So, you could join the Venomous Sect."
- "What?" Crystal was in disbelief. "Ms. Vennum, what are you saying?"
- "You... Didn't you say... Wait, who exactly are you?" Crystal's eyes narrowed as she realized something was very wrong.
- "Ms. Granger, do you know why my last name is Vennum?" Kaala smiled, a twisted grin on her face. "That's right, I'm from the Venomous Sect."
- Crystal leaped to her feet, ready to run, but found that at some point, the cafe doors had been locked. Two people now stood at the entrance.
- The lights dimmed, and the blinds were drawn.
- "Ms. Granger, you can try shouting for help if you want," Kaala said with a smile. "Everyone here is my man."
- Crystal glanced around, noticing that everyone in the cafe was staring at her. Panic slowly crept into her heart.
- "What do you want?" she tried to remain calm.
- "Wait a second... So, Dave isn't with the Venomous Sect?" Crystal suddenly realized.
- "He's the one who can fight you off, isn't he?" Crystal's hope surged. "I warn you, he knows I left home, and he'll come looking for me!"
- "Ms. Granger, stop fooling yourself. Since you came to us for help, how could you let Dave know?" Kaala shook her head. "You're right, Dave isn't part of the Venomous Sect, but does that matter?"
- "By the time he realizes you're missing, you'll already be gone forever."
- "Ms. Granger, we've been preparing for you for a long time. We hadn't planned to act so soon, but Dave's sudden appearance forced our hand."
- "It was you who poisoned my mother?" Crystal fully understood now.
- "If Dave can save my mom, he can save me too!"
- "Ms. Granger, I hate to break it to you, but you're out of time." Kaala's smile widened. "The coffee you drank wasn't just any coffee."
- "It was laced with a special ingredient—a food for the poisonous insect."
- "You're probably wondering why we let you drink it. The reason is simple. Your body is special, making you the perfect host for raising the poisonous insect. We've prepared twelve larvae, and now we're going to place them inside your body."
- Kaala gestured, and twelve people, in rows of three, began walking toward Crystal from four directions. Each carried a small glass dish, and inside each dish squirmed a tiny, pale worm.
- "Ugh..." Crystal gagged, barely able to hold back the nausea at the sight.
- She tried to stand, but her body was weak, her mind swirling with dizziness.
- "No… Don't come any closer..." Crystal was filled with disgust and terror, regret washing over her.
- She should never have hidden this from Dave. He was still waiting for her at home, completely unaware of where she had gone. How could he possibly save me now?
- "Ms. Granger, instead of resisting, why not embrace it?" Kaala took one of the glass dishes and delicately picked up a wriggling worm. "Look, it's quite cute in a way, isn't it?"
- "In a sense, you'll be its mother from now on."
- "You'll be the mother of all of them."
- With those words, Kaala shoved the writhing worm toward Crystal's mouth!
