Chapter 8 The Wedding Night
- Crystal's skin, already more brilliant than fresh snowfall, appeared to shine with an almost ethereal glow under the lights.
- "H-How did you get in here?" Dave's voice was hoarse, and his throat convulsed slightly. At that moment, Crystal presented a profound visual impact on him.
- For a man who had just spent five years in prison, such a temptation was nearly unbearable!
- Crystal's face flushed with embarrassment as she bit her lip in frustration. What an infuriating man! I've made my intentions clear, and yet he still pretends not to notice!
- "If you need to bathe, please wait a moment. You can step outside while I get dressed…"
- Dave struggled to maintain his composure, but a burning heat surged within him.
- Then, Crystal made a startling move!
- She abruptly discarded the towel and stepped into the bathtub.
- Her completely exposed, stunning physique made Dave's blood boil. He leaped out of the bathtub in panic and fled.
- He simply could not withstand it.
- Dave hastily dressed and descended to the villa's basement, setting the treadmill to its highest speed. He ran for an hour, barely managing to suppress the intense heat in his chest.
- Afterward, he collapsed onto the floor.
- The coolness of the air-conditioned basement floor finally helped Dave regain his composure.
- Fatigue soon overtook him, and he drifted into a deep sleep.
- When he awoke, it was morning.
- Dave opened his eyes to see Crystal once more, now clad in a pure white gown, resembling a celestial being.
- Yet, Dave couldn't help but recall her appearance from the previous night.
- "Do you enjoy sleeping on the floor?"
- Crystal's voice carried a hint of irritation. What an infuriating man! I've waited all night without any rest, and he's just lying there comfortably on the floor!
- "Oh, I'm accustomed to it."
- Dave gave a sheepish smile.
- "The Drug Lord and my dad are waiting for us. You should prepare yourself."
- Crystal took a deep breath. "There's something I need to clarify. Last night, you ran away, and you must inform the Drug Lord that I upheld my promise and that you are satisfied!"
- "Oh?" Dave was slightly taken aback but nodded. "No problem."
- He vaguely understood there was some sort of arrangement between the Drug Lord and the Grangers, which was not surprising, as Crystal would not have married him without cause.
- Half an hour later, they arrived at the Granger Residence.
- Upon entering, Crystal wrapped her arm around Dave's.
- In the living room, Marcus addresses the Drug Lord, "Drug Lord, I trust you to take care of my wife's illness."
- Seeing Dave and Crystal arrive, Marcus appeared somewhat anxious.
- Drug Lord nodded and addressed Dave. "Dave, Mrs. Granger's illness is quite unique and requires your personal expertise."
- "What?" Marcus was startled, and Crystal was equally taken aback.
- "Mr. Granger, Dave is my master's most exceptional disciple," the Drug Lord explained.
- "Crystal, I will first check on Mom."
- Dave patted Crystal, signaling her to let go.
- Crystal came to her senses and hurriedly released Dave, her cheeks slightly flushed. This insufferable man—where did he even touch?
- ...
- In the clean, understated bedroom lay a pale middle-aged woman, Crystal's mom, Violet Sloan.
- Dave placed two fingers on Violet's wrist, and his expression grew serious.
- "How is my mom?" Crystal could not help but ask.
- "She is stable; it can be treated."
- Dave smiled reassuringly at Crystal. "You and Dad should step outside. Rufus, please stay and assist me."
- Crystal glanced at Marcus, who nodded. The two left the room, while the Drug Lord went over to close the door.
- "Dave, is Mrs. Granger's illness serious?" the Drug Lord asked quietly.
- "She has been poisoned."
- Dave's face was grim. "I can manage it."
- After a pause, he added, "But this indicates a significant issue—the Venomous Sect has resurfaced!"
