Chapter 7 The Wedding
- Lionel rubbed his eyes vigorously, once, twice, until they throbbed with pain. Yet, the man on stage holding Crystal's hand was unmistakably Dave.
- How can this be? How can it be Dave? How can it possibly be Dave?
- At this moment, Lionel was consumed by rage.
- How could that worthless convict be considered worthy of someone as beautiful as Crystal? No way! This is impossible!
- Lionel felt an overwhelming urge to storm in and expose Dave as nothing more than a failed convict!
- "Stop staring and let's go!"
- Upon realizing the gravity of the situation, Mark swiftly pulled Lionel and Jessie away.
- Having already angered Marcus, Mark knew that any further disruption from Lionel and Jessie could provoke the Grangers, who would not hesitate to retaliate.
- ...
- On stage, Dave observed the commotion at the entrance.
- He felt an unusual sense of gratitude toward his master, comprehending that the wedding had been deliberately arranged here by his master.
- It was likely intended to help him reclaim this moment.
- "Dave, from this day forward, I entrust my daughter to you." Marcus regarded Dave intently. "I'll be frank—I have only this one precious daughter. If she acts willfully or makes mistakes, you may blame her, but you must not lay a hand on her. You can always return her to us, regardless of her behavior; I am prepared to take care of her."
- The guests below smiled, noting Marcus' unabashed affection for his daughter.
- "Dad, don't worry. Crystal is now my wife, and I will protect her for the rest of my life." Dave smiled faintly.
- These were not mere words; despite the lack of affection between him and Crystal at present, he would protect her because she had chosen to marry him.
- Not only he, but everyone at Zephyr Hall would ensure the safety of her.
- "Then I am reassured." Marcus appeared visibly relieved.
- Crystal also cast a glance at Dave.
- "Now, let us welcome our officiant, the Drug Lord!"
- In Ballroom A, the wedding proceeds as planned. In Ballroom B, Mark and the others departed quickly.
- They understood that the wedding could not proceed further.
- After bidding farewell to the relatives, Mark, Lionel, and Jessie returned to the Orion Residence, still visibly shaken.
- "How could that worthless Dave marry Crystal? Are you sure you're not deceiving me?" Liana remained skeptical.
- "Mom, I'm feeling a bit tired. I'm going to lie down for a while."
- Lionel led Jessie upstairs to their rooms.
- After closing the door, they faced each other, both with troubled expressions.
- "We need to devise a plan."
- "Exactly. If Dave discovers that we were behind his imprisonment years ago, he won't let us get away with it."
- "We need to act before he does!"
- "D*mn it! I can't fathom how that worthless man ended up with such incredible luck. How did he land someone like Crystal?"
- Lionel's jealousy pushed him to the edge of madness.
- The mere thought of Dave spending the night with a beauty like Crystal made Lionel feel as though he was being consumed by a swarm of insects!
- ...
- As night descended upon Granville's most exclusive riverside villa district, Villa One welcomed its new residents, Dave and Crystal.
- "It was finally time to unwind."
- Dave relaxed in the bathtub, savoring the comfort of life outside prison.
- In the past five years, he had scarcely had a moment of true relaxation.
- Being a competent leader of Zephyr Hall demanded not just exceptional talent but also grueling training.
- Fatigue overcame him, and Dave drifted into a semi-conscious state.
- After an undetermined amount of time, he suddenly became alert and opened his eyes wide.
- There was someone else by the bathtub.
- It was Crystal.
- Dave's eyes widened in astonishment when he saw that Crystal was wrapped only in a towel!
