Chapter 15 Book A Hotel Room

  • "No…"
  • Crystal screamed in terror, gagging and retching uncontrollably.
  • Out of nowhere, a surge of strength allowed her to stand up, but as soon as she took a step, the world spun around her, and she collapsed, unconscious.
  • "Give her more of the poisonous insect food," Kaala Vennum frowned, motioning to the person behind her, who picked up Crystal's unfinished coffee and brought it to her lips.
  • Bang!
  • A loud crash came from the entrance as the two guards at the door were sent flying. The cafe's glass door shattered instantly.
  • "So, it's you disgusting creatures again!"
  • A powerful presence surged into the room as the person holding the coffee was sent flying.
  • Crystal was scooped up into the arms of a tall man.
  • "It's Dave!" Kaala's face darkened. "Everyone, attack! Kill him!"
  • Without hesitation, she flung a dark, wriggling insect toward Dave and simultaneously drew a sharp dagger, aiming straight for his throat!
  • With one hand holding Crystal, Dave casually caught the poisonous insect with the other, crushing it to dust.
  • In a swift motion, he also seized Kaala's dagger mid-strike.
  • Kaala's eyes widened in terror as she caught sight of the Zephyr Hall ring on Dave's left hand.
  • Her face turned pale. "He's not just a disciple of Zephyr Hall! He's their lord!" she shrieked in fear.
  • "Leave no witnesses!" Kaala ordered, her voice trembling with terror.
  • The others in the room shared the same frightened expressions.
  • In the next moment, they all reacted the same way, biting down hard on something.
  • "Ugh…" Each one groaned in agony, clutching their throats as blood poured from their mouths and noses.
  • Within moments, they collapsed to the ground, lifeless.
  • The sudden turn of events left Dave momentarily stunned. He checked the bodies and quickly realized that even he couldn't save them now.
  • "Dave."
  • The Drug Lord entered the cafe.
  • "I underestimated them. It's my first time dealing with them, and I didn't expect them to commit suicide so decisively," Dave sighed deeply. "I had no idea they'd end things so quickly."
  • "The Venomous Sect is always ruthless—to their enemies and themselves, which is why they're so hard to deal with," the Drug Lord said with a sigh. "Good thing we got here in time. Otherwise…" He glanced at Crystal in Dave's arms, still shaken by the close call.
  • "Yeah, there's still some residual poisonous insect food in her system. I'll take care of it," Dave replied, also shaken. He had been waiting at home, but knowing the Venomous Sect's tactics, he had arranged for people to follow Crystal discreetly. That was how he found out she had come to the cafe.
  • "Rufus, handle things here," Dave said as he carried Crystal out.
  • The moment they exited the cafe, Crystal started vomiting again, right onto Dave.
  • The stench was overwhelming, and it almost made Dave nauseous himself.
  • Spotting a hotel nearby, he quickly headed inside.
  • "Do you have any rooms available?"
  • "No single rooms left. Only standard rooms and suites," the receptionist answered.
  • "Give me a suite," Dave said, hastily booking the room and carrying Crystal toward the elevator.
  • The receptionist gave him a disgusted look, assuming he was in a rush for unsavory reasons.
  • Click.
  • Someone quietly snapped a photo from the corner, and then swiftly exited the hotel.
  • It was none other than Jessie.
  • "Haha, this is perfect! That sc*mbag couldn't hold it in after five years in prison. He's already out here booking a room with someone else!" Jessie was elated, unaware that the woman in Dave's arms was Crystal. She hadn't seen her face clearly, and besides, if it was Crystal, why would Dave need a hotel room?
  • She opened Mrs. Granger's contact and sent the freshly taken photo straight to her.
