Chapter 8 The Brilliant Move
- In the past, Jonathan had invited Jackson for meals, often asking Yuliana to accompany him on several occasions.
- Back then, whenever Jackson looked at Yuliana, his gaze always held a hint of mischief.
- Jonathan's subpar waterproofing project somehow passed inspection, and Jackson benefited from it.
- Adler said directly, “Jackson, your timing is impeccable. I need to see your boss, Mr. Zeller.”
- “Who do you think you are? Did you think any Tom, Dick, or Harry could meet Mr. Zeller?” Jackson's face was filled with contempt. He then turned to the receptionist and warned, “Mr. Zeller is in the middle of a shareholders' meeting. If you interrupt recklessly, you might risk losing your job.”
- The receptionist, a beautiful lady, could only offer a sheepish smile, not daring to refute.
- Adler was taken aback, not expecting this sudden change in Jackson's attitude.
- Jackson, however, chuckled with a hint of amusement. “Did you find out that Jonathan is about to become the son-in-law of Crafton Construction? Are you planning to exploit and deceive under the guise of being Jonathan's brother-in-law?”
- “I have some business with Mr. Zeller. Watch your language,” Adler said in a deep voice.
- Jackson dismissed it casually by saying, “How about this? Invite your wife to join me for a meal, and I'll take you to meet Mr. Zeller right now.”
- Repeatedly subjected to humiliation, Adler's gaze turned somewhat gloomy. “Say one more word, and I'll smash your mouth.”
- “Don't you realize where we are? I dare you to lift a finger.” Jackson looked disdainfully at Adler, who appeared as common as a manual laborer.
- Jackson then continued to tease arrogantly, “I heard that Yuliana only let you touch her on the days when you received your monthly salary. Is that true? Well, you can't blame her. With the way you've turned out, it's no wonder your wife doesn't show the slightest interest in you. To be honest, Jonathan, in the interest of the project, did bring your wife out to have private dinners with me. Your wife is quite the flirt... Tsk...”
- “You're asking for trouble!” Unable to contain his inner fury any longer, Adler raised his hand in indignation, stirring up a gust of force.
- Slap!
- Jackson felt a ringing in his ears. A single slap unexpectedly sent his entire body flying four to five meters away.
- Half of his face was brutally mangled, with the corner of his mouth torn open. From his mouth, he spat out a few blood-stained teeth.
- Every employee present was left wide-eyed and speechless.
- The receptionist, a stunning woman, was agape with her red lips, her face full of disbelief. This guy is way too fierce. He actually managed to send someone flying with a single slap.
- “If you manage to walk out of here today, then I, Jackson, would be a useless man.” Jackson struggled to his feet, wincing in pain with every word he spoke. “Security, get over here.”
- Upon hearing the shout, more than a dozen security guards swiftly rushed over.
- The sight of Jackson's pitiful state also sent a wave of unease through the security guard. Has he been hit with a brick?
- In a fit of rage, Jackson roared, “What are you waiting for? Break his hands.”
- The security captain, seeing he had strength in numbers and facing someone who looked like a common laborer, didn't show any fear.
- With an indifferent expression, Adler sized up the security guards present. As he saw one of them raise a baton to strike, he kicked the guard, sending him flying five meters away.
- “Hold on! What's going on?”
- At that moment, a group of people rushed over in a state of urgency. Leading them was none other than the CEO of Crafton Construction, Isaac Zeller.
- Upon returning from Hillscester Grand Hotel, Isaac immediately called for a company shareholders' meeting.
- They discussed how to secure the construction contract for Luminara Hospital.
- If it weren't for the driver who burst into the conference room to report, Isaac would have no idea that Adler had suddenly appeared at the company.
- Upon seeing the situation, Jackson lamented, “Mr. Zeller, he's Jonathan's brother-in-law. This penniless guy is probably looking to get some benefits from you. I prevented him from barging in, all to avoid disrupting your meeting. That sc*mbag actually had the audacity to beat me up like this.”
- At this moment, Isaac's face nearly turned green.
- The Leedon family had entrusted all matters of the Luminara Hospital to Adler.
- When Adler arrived at Crafton Construction, it was certainly good news for Isaac.
- However, Adler was really barred entry by Isaac's staff.
- At the same time, Isaac was somewhat taken aback, never having expected that Adler would turn out to be the brother-in-law of his future son-in-law. No wonder he took the initiative to approach my company.
- With a gloomy expression, Adler looked at Isaac. “Mr. Zeller, if this is the caliber of the quality control department manager in your company, can we really trust the quality?”
- Before Isaac could even speak, Jackson angrily interjected, “Crafton Construction's reputation has always been excellent in the industry. Who are you to criticize our company's quality? Who do you think you are?”
- “What about you?” Isaac, with a darkened expression, abruptly turned to look at Jackson. He backhandedly slapped him across the face. “Get out of my sight now.”
- “Mr. Zeller, what do you mean by this?” This time, Jackson was truly left dumbfounded. Even if this guy is your son-in-law's brother-in-law, is there really a need to defend him like this?
- Isaac's face darkened. “What do I mean? You're fired! Get out of my sight now!”
- Jackson's face was filled with disbelief. “Mr. Zeller, I've devoted so many years of my life working for Crafton Construction. Are you actually considering firing me because of someone like him?”
- Isaac said coldly, “Do you really think I was unaware of your shady dealings all these years? Since you seem to have a death wish, I'll have the company's legal department get in touch with you. Get ready to serve time in jail!”
- Jackson immediately panicked, hastily dropping to his knees to plead for mercy. “Mr. Zeller, I realize my mistake now. Please give me another chance. I promise I'll do better in the future.”
- “Security, throw him out,” Isaac commanded, showing no mercy as he directed the security guard.
- A department manager had just been fired on the spot, leaving all the present employees stunned and speechless.
- Isaac no longer paid attention to Jackson. Instead, he turned to Adler and said apologetically, “Mr. Quintrell, I'm truly sorry. You could've let Jonathan know in advance to give me a call. It would have been nice to prepare myself a bit, don't you think?”
- “Let's talk somewhere else,” Adler said.
- Quickly, Isaac led the way, guiding Adler to the office.
- Just as Jackson had stated, the reputation of Crafton Construction was second to none within the industry, boasting substantial strength and capabilities.
- Choosing them to construct Luminara Hospital was the best decision.
- The conversation that followed went smoothly. Adler handed over the construction business directly to Crafton Construction.
- In the end, Isaac said cheerfully, “Thank you for your trust, Mr. Quintrell. We also came to a decision at the shareholder's meeting. We will set aside ten percent of the shares from the Luminara Hospital project specifically for you. This could also allow you to supervise the work more effectively!”
- Naturally, Adler was deeply moved. He was fully aware of the value of ten percent.
- He was in dire need of money at the moment, and even if he accepted this sum, no one could criticize him.
- However, he was equally aware that it was most advantageous not to meddle with Luminara Hospital.
- Therefore, Adler shook his head. “I don't need a share. As long as you guys ensure the quality, that would be enough. Also, I hope you can delegate more projects to my brother-in-law, Jonathan, this time.”
- The shareholders present couldn't help but see the slightly down-and-out man before them in a new light. The kind of temptation they presented was not something the average person could resist.
- Isaac was taken aback momentarily, then immediately smiled knowingly and said, “Don't worry, I understand.”
- “By the way, you'll attend the engagement party of Jonathan and my daughter, right?”
- “Of course,” Adler said with an inscrutable smile. “Mr. Zeller, I hope you and everyone present can help keep my matters confidential.”
- “Rest assured, Mr. Quintrell. We won't breathe a word of this.”
- Everyone present voiced their agreement.
- A cold laugh echoed within Adler's heart when he heard that.
- He was securing more business deals for Jonathan, but it certainly wasn't for Jonathan's benefit.
- The goal was to bring the Faraday family to financial ruin, ensuring they could never recover.
- This was also the grand engagement gift he intended to give to Jonathan.
- Watching Adler's retreating figure, the secretary smirked and said, “Does this guy even understand what it means to own ten percent of the shares? He's just going to pass on that?”
- “You're really short-sighted.” Isaac cast a glance at his secretary and sighed. “If he were to accept favors from all the major companies and just focus on these minor benefits right in front of him, that would show his limited perspective and mindset. That would make people look down on him. Moreover, the Leedon family has finally repaid their debt of gratitude to him. It was wise of him not to accept it. The potential of this young man is limitless.”
- The other shareholders were also nodding in agreement, filled with deep emotion.
- Meanwhile, a significant piece of news was making the rounds in Nusridge.
- The Leedon family had invited the upper class to a banquet, all in honor of a mysterious guest.
- In Nusridge, every prestigious family and tycoon took great pride in receiving an invitation from the Leedon family.
- That was because getting invited could mean a change in fortune.
- Being able to attend the banquet at the Leedon residence was a symbol of one's status and power.
- After learning about Adler's relationship with Jonathan, Isaac realized he had to start taking the Faraday family, whom he had initially looked down upon, somewhat seriously.
- That evening, he personally brought gifts to Jonathan's home.
