Chapter 4 A Dead End

  • Blood continuously flowed from all of George's facial orifices, and Wyatt was well aware of the critical nature of the situation.
  • He quickly turned to Adler and asked, “Are you certain you can save him?”
  • With an undeniable certainty in his voice, Adler declared, “With a set of silver needles right now, I can save him.”
  • Wyatt's face took on a grim expression, clearly indicating he didn't have the needles on him.
  • Suddenly, a plump man exclaimed, “I happen to have a set in my car!”
  • He was in the business of medical equipment, and he happened to have a set of silver needles used for traditional medicine acupuncture.
  • So, he quickly instructed his driver to fetch the silver needles from the car.
  • Upon seeing the situation, Stellan quickly said, “I just want to clarify that this guy only drives a car for my sister, and we paid him a hundred thousand for his services. Herbonix Pharmaceuticals has no ties with him. Everything he's doing now is of his own accord.”
  • Seraphina seemed reluctant to involve Adler in such disputes, so she uttered concernedly, “This isn't a game. You need to think it through.”
  • “I'll take full responsibility for whatever happens.” Adler's expression was resolute.
  • Having inherited the legacy of a miracle doctor, he was absolutely confident in handling this sudden illness.
  • In no time, the plump man's driver had fetched the silver needles.
  • “Everyone, please leave the room and ensure the air remains fresh,” Adler said.
  • Stellan, however, uttered disdainfully, “Let me tell you that this is not a shortcut but a dead end. If anything were to happen to Old Mr. Leedon, be prepared for your entire family to face the consequences.”
  • Once the ballroom's private room was emptied, Adler held a silver needle in his hand.
  • Even though it was his first time performing acupuncture to save a person, he felt an overwhelming sense of familiarity as the silver needle nestled between his fingers.
  • Wyatt was initially skeptical, but his eyes suddenly widened the next moment.
  • One could only see Adler's hand move as swiftly as lightning, and the silver needles kept falling. Adler was performing acupuncture effortlessly.
  • The silver needles were precisely inserted into acupoints such as Crown Acupoint, Upper Forehead Acupoint, Posterior Neck Acupoint, and Lower Crown Acupoint.
  • It was important to note that the human body had numerous acupoints. Even the slightest deviation in needle placement could potentially lead to irreversible consequences.
  • However, Adler was swift and decisive in his actions.
  • Every movement of his seemed to be executed with a preconceived plan, exuding absolute confidence.
  • In just a few minutes, they observed George's pale complexion gradually regain its color.
  • Subsequently, George coughed up a mouthful of blood stasis, miraculously opening his eyes.
  • His face was smeared with blood, giving him a somewhat tragic appearance.
  • “It's all right now. After a period of recuperation and mindful eating, you'll be fine.” Adler let out a sigh of relief, assisting George to sit and rest on a chair.
  • That was the first time he saved a life with his acupuncture skills, and he felt a profound sense of accomplishment.
  • Wyatt was utterly astounded. He couldn't help but kneel down, overwhelmed with emotion. “Thank you, Sir! You've just saved a life! If not for your timely intervention today, Old Mr. Leedon would have truly been in danger.”
  • In reality, had George truly perished there, he, serving as the personal physician, would be in big trouble.
  • Hence, saving George was essentially the same as saving him.
  • “Sir, please stand up.” Adler hastily helped Wyatt to his feet.
  • With a puzzled look, George turned his gaze toward the two individuals. Wyatt then proceeded to recount the events that had just occurred.
  • Immediately, George looked at Adler with surprise.
  • Unexpectedly, it turned out that he was saved from the gates of hell by a complete stranger who had nothing to do with his situation.
  • Despite everyone's vehement objections, Adler risked his life to treat George's injuries.
  • This caused even the usually calm and composed George to quiver slightly.
  • George quickly rose to his feet, bending at the waist in a deep bow. “Thank you, Sir, for saving my life,” he expressed gratefully.
  • “Sir, may I know your name?”
  • “Adler Quintrell.”
  • The two shared a warm exchange, with George inquiring about Adler's circumstances.
  • With a nod and a smile, George said, “Mr. Quintrell, your hands are meant for saving lives and healing the wounded. It's such a waste to use them just for steering a car. I'm in the process of establishing the largest private hospital in Nusridge. Would you be interested in a position there?”
  • “Thanks for your kind offer, Old Mr. Leedon, but I have some matters to attend to for now,” Adler replied without outright declining.
  • Seeing that Adler's attitude was noncommittal, George didn't insist on it either.
  • After some thought, he instructed Wyatt to call in the others, and then he made his way to the ballroom's restroom to freshen up.
  • A moment later, Seraphina, Stellan, and the others reentered the private room.
  • When they didn't see George around, they were somewhat taken aback.
  • Upon seeing George emerge unscathed from the restroom, everyone was left dumbfounded.
  • In truth, no one actually believed that Adler possessed the ability to heal George.
  • Even the plump man who offered the silver needles did so with a just-give-it-a-try attitude.
  • After all, it wouldn't be his fault if things didn't work out.
  • If it turned out to be successful, he would certainly be able to tell a story about how he had contributed the silver needles.
  • Seraphina was also taken aback, unable to resist curiously examining the man before her. His appearance is slightly disheveled, yet his demeanor is composed and unruffled. He's highly skilled and knowledgeable in medicine, but he drives a cheap van and doesn't even have money for gas. Could it be that he's truly a peerless expert hidden within the depths of the ancient forest?
  • The plump man who had offered the silver needles saw George and couldn't help but squint his eyes as he smiled, saying, “It's really great to see you're all right, Old Mr. Leedon. It must have been fate. I actually had a set of silver needles in the car today. Otherwise, it would really be too dangerous.”
  • The underlying implication of his words was clear. Without his contribution of those silver needles, even if Adler had exceptional skills, George would have lost his life right there.
  • “Thank you,” George said with a smile toward the plump man.
  • The plump man was ecstatic.
  • Everyone else was seething with resentment. This shameless person is always taking credit where it's not due.
  • Stellan turned to George, unabashedly stating, “Old Mr. Leedon, the person who saved you came here with my sister.”
  • The plump man teased, “Didn't you say he had no connection with Herbonix Pharmaceuticals?”
  • “Exactly. Didn't you say he was risking his life for the sake of wealth and glory?”
  • “That person just proved that doctors are compassionate. On the other hand, you measure another's corn by one's own bushel.”
  • At this point, others also started piling on, ridiculing Stellan.
  • George, clearly displeased, shot a stern glance at Stellan before abruptly turning on his heel.
  • “I....” Stellan wore a face of frustration, filled with extreme regret in his heart.
  • Seeing that everyone had arrived, George solemnly announced, “I have something important to announce now. The jurisdiction over all affairs of Luminara Hospital is entrusted to Mr. Quintrell.”
  • As soon as these words fell, all eyes instantly converged on Adler.
  • Taken aback by the situation, Adler quickly waved his hands and said, “Old Mr. Leedon, this is a matter concerning a whole hospital. I don't have the capacity to handle such a responsibility.”
  • Deep down, George couldn't help but feel a profound admiration. Faced with such a massive temptation, there was no overjoyed reaction from Adler. Instead, the first instinct was an apprehension of not being able to perform well.
  • Maintaining such integrity in today's society is indeed no easy feat. George became even more certain of his thoughts, laughing as he said, “Skills can be gradually developed, but a sincere heart is truly commendable. I believe you have the ability to choose the best partner for Luminara Hospital, Mr. Quintrell.”
  • Adler knew that George was trying to repay him by offering him an entrance into the upper class. This is far more sophisticated than simply giving money.
  • Everyone present was dumbfounded.
  • Stellan was already feeling utterly hopeless, almost regretful enough to bang his head against the wall on the spot.
  • He felt that he had essentially messed up the deal with Luminara Hospital.
  • If the others at home found out that all of this was because of him, his position as the deputy CEO would reach its end.
  • Lucian of Kinesis Group was also ashen-faced.
  • The people present were all company heads from various industries, and their minds immediately became active.
  • George had invested a vast fortune in establishing the most prestigious private hospital in Nusridge. The pharmaceutical business was just a piece of the pie.
  • This included a wide array of operations, such as medical equipment, machine parts, building and renovation, and electrical appliances, among others.
  • As long as they could gain Adler's approval, they would be able to have a share of this large pie.
  • The most important thing was that they could associate themselves with the Leedon family.
  • That wasn't something that could be bought with money.
