Chapter 7 Taking Your Wife Out

  • After the man walked through the door, he acknowledged Quincy, Ivanna, and the others with a nod. However, his demeanor was laced with an undeniable arrogance.
  • However, Ivanna, Quincy, and Jonathan didn't feel irked at all. On the contrary, they were thrilled.
  • The indifference on Yuliana's face swiftly morphed into a warm expression when she saw the young man. “I'm all right now,” she said.
  • “Let's go, then,” the man said, his expression nonchalant.
  • With that, he turned around and walked away. Without any further ado, Yuliana followed him.
  • From start to finish, the man never once looked directly at Adler, completely ignoring Adler's existence.
  • And just like that, he openly took away Adler's wife.
  • “Halt!” Adler called out sternly.
  • The man and Yuliana turned around simultaneously.
  • Filled with uncontrollable anger, Adler quickened his pace and chased after.
  • But when he reached the door, two indifferent men in suits abruptly turned around. Surprisingly, they pulled out their handguns, the chilling barrels aimed directly at Adler's head.
  • Their movements were synchronized, their expressions stern, clearly indicating they were well-trained bodyguards.
  • Adler was confident that he could disarm them before they had a chance to fire their guns.
  • Yet, he managed to resist the urge to act.
  • Even Ivanna, Quincy, and others couldn't help but be startled by this scene.
  • Upon seeing how Adler dared not move an inch, they felt an immense contempt for him. Just a moment ago, he was acting aggressively. Now, he's turned into a coward?
  • In a voice filled with anger, Adler asked, “Who is he, and what is your relationship with him?”
  • “Does it have anything to do with you?” Yuliana cast a cold glance at Adler.
  • Seeing Adler's cowardly demeanor, she felt even more disgusted deep within.
  • She then advised, “I suggest you sign the divorce agreement. Don't make things harder for yourself.”
  • The man stood still, subtly turning his head to give Adler a sidelong glance and a half-smile. His demeanor exuded a strong sense of rebelliousness. “I'm about to take your wife out for a meal. Would you like to join us?”
  • He then casually slung his arm around Yuliana's shoulder as if intentionally provoking Adler.
  • Yuliana cast a somewhat coy glance at the man, allowing him to hold her.
  • Adler's fists were clenched tightly as if the fury within his chest was on the verge of erupting uncontrollably.
  • Yet, he held himself back.
  • He was determined to find evidence of Yuliana's infidelity, aiming to make her leave empty-handed.
  • He was determined to make this adulterous couple pay for their actions.
  • Seeing that Adler made no move, the man and Yuliana simply turned around and left.
  • The two bodyguards simultaneously holstered their guns, scoffed coldly, and then walked away.
  • Just as Ivanna was about to stand up and leave, she suddenly noticed that Adler's paper bag was surprisingly filled with money.
  • Her eyes lit up instantly. “Since you and Yules are not yet divorced, the money you have should still be considered community property, right? I'm not trying to take advantage of you. Let's split it half and half.”
  • Adler was completely stunned.
  • He knew Ivanna was greedy, but he never expected her to stoop so low. How dare she ask me for money at such a time?
  • With a casual flick of his hand, Adler tossed the money onto the coffee table. He sneered, “This is the money of Stellan, the son of the Xenos family. If you dare, take it.”
  • Upon hearing Stellan's name, Ivanna instantly backed down.
  • The slaps she had received still left her cheeks burning.
  • Jonathan also felt a slight flutter in his heart, but he mockingly said, “Look at you, acting like a country bumpkin. You're aware of Luminara Hospital, which the Leedon family is planning to build, right? As long as my future father-in-law secures the construction project for Luminara Hospital, I could make a few million if he assigns me a small part of the project in the future. Keep this money for your retirement.”
  • Thinking about how her children had found wealthy partners, Ivanna felt as if she had already become a woman of affluence. Her face was full of arrogance as she said, “Our family isn't one to forget old friendships. As long as you agree to divorce Yules, when the time comes, Jon can find you some work at the construction site. That should be enough to make a living, right?”
  • Subsequently, this family left with an air of immense satisfaction.
  • “Go ahead and bask in your glory now. I'll make sure your whole family will suffer.”
  • With a cold sneer in his heart, Adler retrieved his ID card.
  • He then planned to first seek out a buddy of his.
  • This individual could assist him in finding evidence of Yuliana's infidelity.
  • At that moment, Jonathan, Quincy, and Ivanna descended the stairs, only to be taken aback by the sight of the Maybach parked at the entrance of the unit. It was the very same car that Adler had driven back.
  • Jonathan's eyes lit up when he saw the car. Envious, he said, “This Maybach must belong to Mr. Gossamer, right? Didn't he and Yuliana drive off?”
  • “This car must have cost several million, right? Yules will finally find happiness with a scion like him!” Ivanna exclaimed.
  • “Once Yuliana marries Mr. Gossamer, the Gossamer family absolutely must gift me a car. Only then can I maintain my reputation when I drive around,” Jonathan said.
  • At that moment, Adler, clutching a bag of money, emerged from the elevator and unexpectedly ran into the three people waiting by the door.
  • Upon seeing Adler, Quincy couldn't help but mock, “Can't you do better? You're still running around with such a small amount of money and showing off.”
  • Jonathan also had a look of disdain on his face. Pointing at the Maybach, he said, “See this car? Your money isn't even enough to buy a wheel.”
  • Adler halted, glancing at him sideways. “Is this your car?”
  • Jonathan declared proudly, “Of course! It's a gift from my father-in-law.”
  • With a scoff of disdain, Adler pulled out his remote car key. Under the incredulous gazes of the trio, he unlocked his car and left with an air of arrogance.
  • Jonathan's bluff was immediately called out on the spot.
  • In an instant, Jonathan felt a burning sensation on his face.
  • Ivanna was also left dumbfounded. “Where on earth did he get such a nice car?”
  • Adler got a new SIM card, transferred his contacts into his new phone, and dialed Flynn Walker's number.
  • Flynn was a private investigator, as well as a fellow townsman of Adler, and they were the best of friends.
  • The two agreed to meet at a restaurant.
  • When they met, there was no need for any unnecessary pretense. A single hug was enough.
  • Flynn was a reconnaissance soldier. After his service ended, he settled in Nusridge, where he married and had children.
  • On the battlefield, he was a soldier who walked the line between life and death at the very forefront.
  • Yet, his life was extraordinarily down and out.
  • However, the physical strength and aura he retained from his military days still remained.
  • He was tall and well-built, with rough stubble and disheveled hair. His eyes were deep, and his rebellious nature was quite appealing to young girls.
  • Initially, it was thought that with the skills of a reconnaissance soldier, becoming a private investigator would be like a duck to water.
  • Yet, in the end, reality had given him a harsh wake-up call.
  • Every month, the only jobs that came in were either searching for lost kittens and puppies or tailing and secretly photographing mistresses. The income was just enough to barely cover the household expenses.
  • Even though he was equally downtrodden in life, he frequently visited Adler during his period of paralysis, offering financial assistance.
  • Casually tossing the bag of money before Flynn, Adler said, “Look into Yuliana for me.”
  • Without even glancing at the bag of money, Flynn cast a sidelong glance at Adler and asked, “Do you suspect she's been unfaithful?”
  • Adler nodded, recounting the events that had transpired between him and Yuliana over the past few days.
  • The most crucial trait for a reconnaissance soldier was to remain calm and collected. Despite his anger, Flynn understood that acting on impulse wouldn't solve anything.
  • He said in a serious tone, “Leave the matter to me. Take your money back. Let's not involve money in our relationship.”
  • Adler then said, “Take this money for now. It won't be long before I give you another sum of money. Consider this an investment in you. I want you to grow and become stronger. We, the two buddies, won't be poor anymore.”
  • Flynn was taken aback for a moment, then he responded earnestly, “All right. I'll get us a couple of rifles. Let's join forces, my buddy, to build something big and strong and create a new era of brilliance.”
  • Ignoring Flynn's teasing, Adler was focused on achieving his grand ambitions. He knew that he couldn't do it alone. He needed to have his own influence.
  • After Flynn left, Adler drove toward Crafton Construction.
  • It was indeed the company owned by Jonathan's future father-in-law.
  • He planned to entrust the construction project of Luminara Hospital to Crafton Construction.
  • The company had substantial resources and a good reputation, making it the best choice.
  • This was also his first step in taking revenge on the Faraday family.
  • Adler walked into the office building and said to the beautiful receptionist at the front desk, “I'm looking for Mr. Zeller.”
  • The receptionist, an attractive lady, politely smiled and asked, “Mr. Zeller is currently in a meeting. Do you have an appointment? I won't be able to notify him for you without an appointment.”
  • “My name is Adler Quintrell. Just mention my name to Mr. Zeller, and he will naturally agree to see me,” Adler said.
  • The receptionist was somewhat troubled. After all, there were more than a few people who had tried to meet the boss using such tricks.
  • “Adler, is it really you?”
  • At that moment, a man walked over.
  • Adler recognized this man. His name was Jackson Ludlow, the manager of Crafton Construction's quality control department.
  • Jonathan frequently treated this person to meals.
  • It was through him that Jonathan managed to secure some minor construction contracts from Crafton Construction.
