Chapter 6 I’ll Marry Him
- “I…” Now that she was face to face with Henry, Gillian was astonished, but she had to ask. “My mom called you and told you I was here?”
- “Yes.” Henry nodded in her direction.
- Looked like her mother had found out that she had stolen the ID card.
- But how did she know that she would be at the bureau?
- Gillian heart was in a mess. She did not know what to do. She never once imagined that Henry would tell her what her mother did.
- “Gillian!”
- Suddenly a figure dressed in luxurious clothing arrived in the lobby.
- Gillian looked up to see Elizabeth Wesley hastily making her way towards them.
- Elizabeth quickly plastered a smile on her face when she saw Henry. She grabbed Gillian’s wrist and said, “Gillian, you forgot something important. I’ve brought it here for you.”
- “What?” Gillian stared at Elizabeth’s fake smile. She didn’t know what she was up to.
- “About that, Henry dear, could you give us a minute? I need to speak with Gillian.” Elizabeth fawned over Henry and then turned to tug Gillian forcefully with her out into the hall.
- Kevin sneered at the older woman’s simpering form and said, “Young Master, Elizabeth Wesley arrived just in time! As you predicted, Miss Wesley stole the ID card.”
- Henry curled his lip, “Elizabeth Wesley is not as useless as we thought. Her arrival saved us from explaining.”
- His bottomless eyes flashed. You couldn’t tell he was blind without a closer look.
- …
- “Mom, did you trick Henry into coming?” Gillian shook off Elizabeth’s grip on her and asked.
- Elizabeth snorted. “Can’t you be more ladylike? Henry might be blind but he’s not deaf! Aren’t you afraid that your future husband might dislike you for being so disrespectful?”
- “My husband?” Gillian sneered. “I’ve said it before, I’m not marrying him. I won’t be a pawn in your games!”
- “You have no choice!” Elizabeth smirked. She took out her phone and handed it to Gillian. “Have a good look.”
- Gillian looked at it skeptically. It was a video. Her eyes widened at the start of the video and she snatched it over.
- In it was a white-haired elderly woman. She asked softly and tenderly, “Gillian deary, when are you coming to get me? I don’t like it here. It’s too quiet. I liked it better at the nursing home…”
- It was a short video of only a few seconds.
- Gillian’s eyes tingled. “Where did you take my grandmother? This is not the nursing home!”
- Elizabeth scoffed. “I went through all the legal procedures and got the nursing home’s permission to be able to pick her up.” Elizabeth folded her arms arrogantly. “If you don’t marry Henry today, you’ll never see your grandmother again!”
- “You…” Gillian clenched her fist tightly. If the woman had not adopted her raised her for twenty years, she would have punched her. “Do you have to force me like this?”
- Her grandmother was her weakness. She had never thought that Elizabeth would resort to such matters to blackmail her.
- “You have two choices. Pick one!” Elizabeth arched an eyebrow at her. There was no room for discussion.
- Gillian shut her eyes tightly. When she opened them, there was nothing but despair in her eyes. “I’ll marry him!”
