Chapter 7

• I spend Sunday reading some of my books that are still on the bookshelf. I read one here and there, and at the end of the day I decided to go to bed early, because tomorrow is a long day and I want to be well rested.
• I will try to be professional at work and not fall into my boss's game, because he knows very well how to seduce a woman. I don't want to be just another one in his seduction game, no. I'm no longer good for love. Besides, I feel that Márcio will still have a lot to do and I'm afraid of what he might do
• Monday arrives and I am already tense early in the morning. I take a warm shower and try to calm down, because I'm anxious and I know I shouldn't be. I fix my hair and put on some perfume, I take a bag with my documents and some other things.
• I eat only a sandwich and brush my teeth. I kiss my mother and borrow her car again. I have to buy a car, urgently.
• I rush through the streets, ignoring a few red lights, until I reach Cam's huge company building. I know it's wrong to drive like this, but he was adamant about punctuality. I can't be late on my first day!
• I park the car in the company's private car park for authorized people only.
• I give my name at the entrance of the garage and receive permission to enter. I get out of the car and hand the car alarm to the person in charge, then I go towards the lift that will take me to the first floor.
• Once there, I go to the reception desk and inform them that today is my first day here, showing my ID. The woman says that I can enter room number eight. I thank her and go to the room.
• I sit down in the back of the room, feeling strange. I breathe calmly trying to reassure myself, because I know that I shouldn't think the worst. I will do well in this job and try to resist my boss.
• After five minutes the door opens and Cam along with a blonde woman enter. Men like him always prefer blondes, it's obvious. And she's beautiful, with a body full of curves and thick lips covered in red lipstick. I return my gaze to Cam, who stares at me curiously.
• - Good morning Miss Caroline, are you hungry? - I deny it and he continues. - Well, this is Charlotte, she's American like me, she'll show you to your office. Have a nice day.
• I smile at him and follow the blonde to my office. And think of a huge and beautiful room! Yes, my room is even too beautiful. The colour of the walls is a beautiful light pink, the table has a beautiful bouquet, the sofas have cushions and there is even a refrigerator, plus a table with eight chairs and some cupboards. This room has everything I need, and it's too chic.
• The blonde smiles at me and wishes me a good day. I thank her and go to my desk. I feel so happy I got this job! As soon as I sit down in my chair I hear a beep coming from my laptop.
• I open my corporate email and see a new message addressed to me. I open it and read it..
• [Hello, Caroline. I've attached a file with everything you need to know about your work at this company. I know you're a designer, but I want you to act as my personal secretary as well. • I click on the attachment right away and after downloading the file, I start reading the huge contract and the like.
• To sum up: the contract is for one year and I cannot resign for the term established. If our contract is renewed, I will earn very well (and this initial salary is already much more than I imagined). This money will help me a lot.
• I smile for a while and finish reading.
• Absences must be proven with a medical certificate, blah, blah, blah... I read everything, until I came to a part where I disagreed: I should go with the boss on his visits outside the company, attend events and even accompany him on trips. As this had not been previously agreed between us, I decide that I will accept only if I get paid extra for it.
• I am sending a reply to your e-mail.
