Chapter 13

• By 9:30 at night I'm sweating, pacing back and forth in my room. No money yet, and if I go to meet Marcio without it I can't imagine what he might do to me, or Cam's sister. The doorbell rings and I walk down the stairs skipping the steps. I open the door and Cam's driver hands me a package. He walks back to the car without saying a word and I walk into the house to check the money. Everything is all right. I quickly go upstairs to change clothes and go to meet Marcio.
• I hurry out, with the package inside my bag, pressing it against my body. I see him from afar, standing at the corner. He is wearing a cap and black clothes, and as soon as he sees me he smiles and raises his arms, coming closer to give me a hug.
• - He doesn't come close to me.
