Chapter 4 Cindy Was Hopeless
- Ian did not hesitate to sleep in Cindy’s lap. After all, the cave floor was damp and wet, and sleeping in Cindy’s lap was a lot more comfortable. In less than three seconds, Ian had fallen sound asleep.
- Cindy could not help but blush. In fact, she felt very awkward that a man she barely knew was so close to her. Her heart thumped violently.
- If Ian were handsome and not a coward, Cindy thought she might give him a chance to become her boyfriend. After all, she had never been so close to a man before. She did not know what to feel about this.
- Unfortunately, Ian was not good-looking at all. He also took advantage of Cindy. For that reason, there was no way she would fall in love with him.
- Forget it. Just treat it as a nightmare. I won’t see him again after getting out of here. Cindy pouted her lips and comforted herself.
- For a moment, the cave was so quiet, the only sound was Ian’s snoring.
- Although Ian seemed to be sleeping soundly, his mind was very active. He had a miracle encounter before his death, and since then, his mind became extraordinarily vigorous. However, he felt that Ivan’s body was too weak. He could only recuperate by sleeping.
- When he arrived at the crime scene earlier, Ian could sense a strong murderous intent from the moment he saw Chad. He was sure that Chad was the murderer at a glance, and furthermore, Chad was a dangerous man. He knew he had to lure Chad out of the house if he wanted to make sure no one got hurt.
- Unexpectedly, Chad tried to deceive Ian with the reward by leading him into the cave. Right away, Ian knew Chad must have accomplices. That was why Ian played along and followed Chad into the cave so that he could subdue everyone in one fell swoop.
- However, Ivan’s body was too weak. Even if Ian’s Force was strong, it was impossible for him to strengthen the body in such a short time. The only thing he could do was to sleep as much as he could.
- After a long time, the boulder at the cave entrance was moved away again. Arthur walked in, and when he saw Ian was sound asleep, he kicked him to wake him up.
- ”Hey, you, get out of the cave now!” he shouted.
- Ian opened his eyes and pretended to wipe the corner of his mouth. ”I won’t leave… if you’re not going… to give me… the hundred thousand you promised!”
- Arthur heard about the promised "reward" from Chad and knew that Ian was an idiot. He was not a bit offended even when Ian talked back. He smiled at Ian and said, “Your money is outside the cave. I have something other business here.”
- After saying that, Arthur turned to look at Cindy. “Your father has prepared ten million as a ransom, but before we release you, we want to…”
- “Please, don't hurt me! Trust me. My father will give you the money you want. You can even ask for more.” Cindy flinched in fear. However, there was no place to hide.
- Meanwhile, Ian walked toward the entrance of the cave as if he heard nothing. Cindy was speechless. How could he leave just like that? Doesn’t he know what this bald guy is up to?
- As a last-ditch effort, she shouted at Ian loudly, "Hey... What did you promise me? You said you would bring me out of here. You can't leave me alone!”
- Hearing that, Ian halted for a moment. He turned around and gave Cindy a smile. "I'm going out… to get the money. I'll come back… later!”
- “Yeah, go and collect your money outside. It’s ready!" Austin urged while casting a scornful glance at Ian.
- When Ian was almost at the cave entrance, Arthur reached out his hand to touch Cindy’s body. Cindy could not help but shout, “Hey! You can’t leave me alone here! I’ll give you a million if you help me get out of here now!”
- Ian did not seem to hear Cindy. He walked farther and farther away until he could no longer be seen.
- Cindy fell into utter despair. She knew she could not fend off Arthur alone.
- Arthur's sinister laughter and Cindy's miserable cries echoed inside the cave.
- Unexpectedly, less than ten seconds later,, Ian appeared at the cave entrance again with a gun in his hand. He pointed the barrel at Arthur’s head and pulled the trigger.
- Bang!
- Arthur’s head blew up like a smashed watermelon, and the warm, sticky blood splashed on Cindy’s face. Cindy was stunned for a moment. When she came to her senses, she screamed and threw up.
- On the other hand, Ian seemed unperturbed. He threw the gun on the ground and shrugged, then leaned against cave entrance, lit a cigarette, and took a long drag.
- Ten minutes later, Cindy finally found the strength to get on her feet, though her face remained deathly pale. What happened earlier was a nightmare. It was not until she walked out of the cave and saw the bright sunlight that she fell on her knees and burst into tears.
- Ian stubbed out his cigarette, crouched beside Cindy, and patted her shoulder in an attempt to comfort her. “Everything’s fine now. Go home, take a good nap, and forget all about it. I was just like you when I first saw someone killed right in front of me.”
- Cindy could not stop shaking. Her face was covered with tears as she glared at Ian hatefully. “Have you been pretending all this time? You could've subdue them right from the start, couldn't you?"
- "Well, I was not confident at first,” Ian replied honestly.
- “Damn you! You don't have to find excuses for yourself. You're a pervert who gets a high seeing me violated, aren't you? No, you're a pervert and a lunatic!”
- After that, Cindy stomped away without looking back.
- “Hey, careful not to get lost. It's a long trek!” Ian remembered there were more than ten intersections from the jeep to the cave. It was more than an hour of trekking. One could easily get lost if they did not pay attention. Even the police would find it difficult to find their way.
- “Mind your own fucking business!” Cindy yelled as she wiped her tears.
- “Just a reminder!” Ian shouted back.
- Looking at the corpses on the ground, Ian decided to get out of the forest first. He knew he could get a reward of five hundred thousand for every criminal. With three kidnappers, he could get one and a half million bucks.
- Ian tied the three bodies together and dragged them down the mountain. Before he could go too far, he heard wolves howling in the distance.
- Immediately, Ian frowned. The sky had not turned dark yet. The wolves must have targeted Cindy as their prey.
- "Women are so troublesome!” Ian mumbled and scratched his head. He had no choice but to hide the bodies in a bush before limping in the direction where the wolves were howling.
