Chapter 11 Probing
- After the Bentley left the villa. Rosie entered, and she was becoming more unsettled.
- The check Ian gave her was real, which meant the old man was an expert who appreciated the value of Ian's "trash".
- The real question was, how did Ian know how much his "trash" was worth?
- Rosie shook her head. She decided that she would interrogate Ian when he was back so that the money would not bring disaster to the Young family.
- On the other hand, Desmond took a genuine Cuban cigar from a drawer. "Care for one, Mr. Griffin?" he asked.
- "No, thanks," Ian declined. "It's a little late, so we'll just have dinner for tonight. Let's talk in the park."
- "Sure, let's do that!" Desmond agreed.
- Desmond was a successful businessman who did not look down on Ian because of the rumors he heard.
- He had been observing Ian since the moment they met. He found that Ian was far from the idiot in the rumors. There must be an ulterior motive for Ian trying to get close to his daughter.
- Desmond decided to find out more about Ian, and he would let Aiden teach Ian a lesson if he was after his property.
- So, Desmond and Ian walked over to a bench in the park. Aiden followed behind and lit a cigarette about two meters from them.
- "Are you currently working, Mr. Griffin?" asked Desmond as he smoked.
- "I'm jobless," said Ian.
- "Why don't you work at my company as general manager?" It was bait. Desmond's company was one of the biggest companies in the region. If Ian were greedy, he would snatch the offer in a blink.
- Instead, Ian shook his head. "Thanks for the offer. I appreciate it, but it is unnecessary. I'm very happy with my current life," he said calmly.
- How greedy! He must think he will get all my property if he courted my only daughter and made her fall in love with him!
- Desmond felt he was getting angry, but he kept a smile on his face. "I just want to thank you for saving my only daughter, Cindy. Well, how about a check for 5 million dollars? That's not too bad, isn't it?"
- Desmond placed a signed check in front of Ian. If Ian accepted the check, it would show his true motives, and Desmond would advise her daughter to stay away from him.
- However, Ian ignored the check entirely. "Mr. Jones, I know what you are thinking. Let me be clear. I have no interest in your property and your daughter. What happened that day happened to be a coincidence. Now, if you'd excuse me." He sounded irritated.
- Desmond was embarrassed. He gave a slight nod to Aiden.
- Aiden immediately blocked Ian. "I heard that you can kill a wolf with a stick?"
- "Do you believe it?" asked Ian.
- "No, but I want to see it for sure. Pardon me!" Aiden swung a punch at Ian's chest. However, he only used half his strength because he could not believe Ian could impale a wolf with a stick.
- He did not believe that an expert like this could be found easily in a small place like Riverdale.
- Ian sighed. He could easily beat up Aiden. However, doing so would expose his real identity and catch the attention of his enemies.
- So, Ian pretended to dodge clumsily and took a punch. "What's going on? I saved your daughter, yet you beat me up?" Ian pretended to be furious.
- Desmond understood when he saw Aiden shake his head slightly. It did not seem like this young man saved his daughter, so he refused the check. His daughter was probably confused.
- "Mr. Griffin, please accept my apology on behalf of Aiden. Are you injured? Do you need to go to the hospital?" said Desmond.
- "Nah, it was only an accident." Ian limped off the park.
- Ian was not happy about it. He used to be very strong, but someone stronger defeated him.
- He needed time to recover, so he could only endure the insults in silence until he regained his power.
- "Sir, I could feel that he's very weak when I punched him. I don't think he is as strong as we thought," said Aiden after Ian left.
- "I trust you. Let's go now. Talk to Cindy whenever you can so that she won't be confused anymore," said Desmond.
- "Don't worry, I will bring Cindy to see some of the best psychiatrists I know if necessary," said Aiden.
- "I appreciate that," sighed Desmond. They left with the Bentley.
- Meanwhile, at Rosie's villa, Wilhelm called Ian when he came in. "Ian, I made pasta. Come and have some."
- "Thanks, Wilhelm." Ian liked him a lot.
- Rosie placed her fork down when she saw Ian. "Dad, I'm going up now."
- Wilhelm sighed after Rosie left. "Ivan, did Rosie bully you again?"
- Rosie, at the end of the stairs, almost tripped when she heard her father's words.
- "Don't worry, Wilhelm. We are getting along fine," said Ian with a smile.
- "Good to hear that. You two have been married for almost a year. Perhaps it's time to expand the family." Wilhelm hinted.
- "Err, we'll try our best." Ian smiled helplessly. He had not even touched Rosie's hands. It would be difficult to bear a child in the current situation.
- "Great! Rest well." Wilhelm returned to his room.
- Ian hardly ate anything at the hotel. So he had a hefty serving of pasta before he cleaned up and went upstairs.
- Rosie had already showered. She was sitting on the bed when she gave Ian a look. "Do you have anything to say?"
- "What?" Ian was confused.
- "Who's that old man? Also, who was the one in Bentley? I didn't expect you to be so ambitious!" Rosie snide. She felt irritated that Ian had been hiding a lot behind her back.
- Ian scratched his head helplessly at Rosie's inquiry. "I don't know the old man. Oh, he gave me a name card. His name is Wilbert Ashford."
- Ian passed the name card to Rosie.
- The card was very simple, with only a line of words, "Wilbert Ashford, Vale Healthcare" and a phone number.
- Vale Healthcare?
- Rosie suddenly remembered something. She stood up abruptly and grabbed Ian's arm. "Did he say he will grant you a request?"
- Ian was confused by Rosie's sudden enthusiasm. Is Wilhelm famous?
- So, Ian nodded. "I think so. How do you know this person?"
