Chapter 2 "Where Am I?"
- Fillipa
- I woke up with a slight headache and I was still trying to understand my surroundings when a hand suddenly grabbed my chin gently and a warm liquid which I recognized as herbal soup poured down my throat.
- The taste was very bitter and I coughed loudly, spitting it out immediately.
- I twisted my face in a frown, as the pain coursed through every limb in my body. I also felt a dull headache and my head was throbbing mercilessly.
- What was happening? Where in heaven's name am I? I mean wasn’t I just thrown down the cliff by the two guards? I could clearly remember I smashed my head against a giant rock before falling into the ocean underneath the cliff.
- I also knew I ended up losing consciousness due to pain and suffocation and I believe that I should be dead by now, yet I don't understand what was going on. Or do dead people feel pain?
- I gathered all my strength left and forced my eyes which were as heavy as a lead wide open.
- I glanced around and noticed I was in a room that was painted white and filled with lavender fragrance. It was barely furnished and only had a drawer that was placed next to the soft bed I was lying on.
- A spoon appeared in my view and I glanced at the side only to see a lady in her twenties dressed in a white half-apron coupled with a black skirt. She was wearing a lace headpiece and black high heels.
- "You're awake." She said softly and gestured the spoon to me. I shook my head and tried to sit up, but a wave of pain rushed through my body which added to the dull headache I was having, making me wince and return to my original position.
- "The doctor instructed you to take a bowl of herbal soup if you want to heal quickly." She muttered and my frown deepened.
- "Where am I?" I questioned in a hoarse voice.
- She hesitated a bit before replying "You are at my master's villa which is located deep in the mountain. He saw your floating body during his boat ride, and decided to save you." She said and I nodded in understanding.
- So somebody decided to save me? Thank the moon goddess. I knew she wasn’t going to let me die in such a miserable way. But who was he though? She made mention of a master so what was I supposed to do now?
- Would he expect me to repay him in some type of way? I was still deep in my thoughts when the lady clicked the spoon again and I raised my eyes to look at her.
- "I'll take it." I stretched out my hand and began to take the bitter herbal soup while suppressing my urge to barf, knowing I needed strength to survive.
- The lady who I assumed might be a maid just quietly stood still while watching me intently as if she wanted to make sure I didn't spit any of the soup out. What’s the issue with her anyway?
- After drinking the soup completely, I handed the bowl over to the maid who gave me a glass of water in return.
- “Thank you,” I said to her and proceeded to drink from it.
- "You’re welcome, I’ll call doctor Asher over now." The maid mentioned and left the room immediately.
- “Doctor?” Wow, a wave of relief washed over me and I clenched my fist hard with happiness and disbelief, my heart
- beating against my chest.
- I couldn't believe that I had managed to survive despite my uncle's wicked attempt to kill me.
- I thought I died, but the moon goddess in her wisdom ended up giving me a second chance to free myself from my uncle and the red flame pack. I promised to treasure my life well and when the time was right I would reclaim everything that was forcefully taken from me.
- "Alpha Henry." I clenched my fist hard with bitter emotions running through me. "I swear I would make sure you and your family pay heavily for all you have done to me," I swore silently.
- Soon I heard some footsteps and I immediately kept my mouth shut. The door flung open and a handsome young man walked in with the maid following him behind.
- The handsome young man seemed to be in his twenties and his handsomeness made my heart skip a beat. So he was the doctor?
- He had warm brown eyes, long lashes that curled perfectly on his eyes, a long and pointed nose coupled with thin red lips, and his lips curved into a gentle smile that left me breathless. He was just so breathtaking.
- “I see you’re awake,” he said softly, in a voice that soothed my frayed nerves.
- I couldn’t help but hold my breath as the handsome doctor approached me to check my health with a warm smile on his face. The subtle patchouli scent clinging to him filled the room as he approached.
- He moved with ease and began checking my vitals. You could easily tell he was a professional. I couldn’t tell why but my heart thudded as his fingers continuously brushed against my skin and it seemed he noticed my nervousness because he immediately flashed me a deep smile.
- “Calm down, mi amor (my love)." He said softly, and my cheeks turned red immediately as I blushed hard.
- How can he call a stranger like me “mi amor”? Isn’t that supposed to be intimate?
- The maid rolled her eyes and smacked his head playfully, "Stop it, you flirt." She said and he winked at her and flashed her a seductive smile.
- Hmph, so it seems he was just a natural flirt and him calling me Mi Amor didn’t mean anything.
- "It's not my fault I'm born handsome." He retorted with a smug tone.
- The maid laughed and they continued to banter in between my treatment which made me smile at the warm scene. At least I felt a sense of peace and for a moment I forgot about the hell I went through in the hands of my uncle.
- But reality was cruel and my face fell upon remembering the red flame pack. The doctors and nurses always treated me like trash and they'll purposely mess everything up and ridicule me whenever I'm cleaning.
- A tear rolled down my face and when I tried to clean it off a hand stopped me and I looked up to see it was Doctor Asher.
- “Hey, are you okay?” He asked softly before wiping the tears off my cheek. His gentle stroke made my heart flutter and I was about to respond when the door flew open.
- "What are you two doing?" A thick voice suddenly asked, making me forget what I was about to say.
