Chapter 372 Impulsive Vow To An Enigmatic Husband
- “The Hartley family? Are you tight with them or something?” Zack was just starting to warm up to Marcus, but now that he heard this lowlife was chummy with him, he suddenly went cold on Marcus. He even began to suspect that Marcus might be in cahoots with this jerk to hurt Cornelia. The thought drained the color from Zack’s face. He didn’t dare think about it. If Marcus and Cornelia’s marriage was just a scheme for some unspeakable purpose, then Cornelia’s life might be ruined. Roman thought Zack was scared of the Hartleys he mentioned, looking smugger than ever. I’m here because I knew it’s your birthday today. Thought I’d come celebrate with you.” He brought out a birthday cake hidden behind him. “Look, I even got you a birthday cake. Not sure if you’re familiar with the brand. It costs a lot more than your average cake. You can’t buy it even if you have the money, not without a membership card.”
- He made it sound like the cake was some rare treasure. Abigail was pissed. “We don’t need you to celebrate our birthday, and we don’t need your cake. Back off, and stay out of our sight.” “You’re not having it? Really?” Roman raised the cake for a look, then shook his head. He walked over to a nearby trash can with them watching. “You’re really not having it?” He tossed the cake into the bin. “Sure you won’t pick it up and eat it after I leave?” Zack and Abigail were disgusted. “Beat it!” “I’ve got stuff to deal with, can’t just leave.” Roman brushed off his hands and straightened his clothes. “Actually, I’m here for Cornelia. Could you go get her? I’d like to invite her to lunch.” Roman’s mention of Cornelia got him a punch in the face from Zack. “You shameless jerk, you have the nerve to ask for Cornelia? Who do you think you are? You think she’s someone you can just call up? She’s married. Get away from her, and stop harassing her.”
- Roman’s face darkened. “She’s my woman. Even if I’m done with her, she can’t marry another man without my permission.” Zack and Abigail were disgusted by his words. “Who are you? You think you’re important? She’s your woman? Have you ever held her hand?” Not having held Cornelia’s hand was a lifelong regret for Roman. Back then, he had been madly pursuing her, using every trick in the book to make her agree to date him. He thought that once Cornelia agreed to date him, he could do whatever he wanted. But he never expected that he wouldn’t even get to hold her hand after they started going out. This woman always had a reason to keep him at arm’s length. Once, in a library, he was planning to make his move when everyone else had left. Just as he saw his chance, these two people suddenly interrupted him and ruined his plan. Thinking back, these two had ruined his plans more than once.
