• As Red and Aamon reached the threshold of a cave, they heard the sound of hurried footsteps approaching. Kit threw her arms around Red as soon as she saw her, and she burst into sobs. Then Fiona followed, staggering with her hands wrapped in bandages. Fiona breathed a sigh of relief and hugged Red wordlessly.
