- Stepping into the bedroom, my eyes find Efrem. He sits on the sofa, tie and jacket draped over the armrest beside him—just as when I returned from seeing Ciana. A fresh glass of whiskey rests on his lap, his posture relaxed, legs parted, the top buttons of his shirt undone.
