Chapter 52 Growing Pains
- The sound of Efrem shutting the door behind us makes my heart skip a beat. I quickly scan our bedroom, kicking off my shoes and placing them in the closet. As I contemplate whether to dive right into our conversation or wait for Efrem to get comfortable, I decide to give myself a few more minutes.
- I move to the coffee table, watching as Efrem removes his jacket and holster, carefully placing his gun in the nightstand drawer. It’s a small gesture, but it means everything to me. I will always love the man he is when he puts his gun away.
- While he rolls up his sleeves, I pour him a glass of whiskey from the decanter. Since making his promises, he’s limited himself to two glasses a day, always having the last one before bed to help him wind down.
