Chapter 7 Her Tumor Wasn't Natural

  • For the past six months, Zachary had been focused on clearing the battlefield, leaving the management of the Holy Sovereign's Palace to Simon.
  • Simon was his most trusted subordinate and a comrade who had shared life-and-death moments with him.
  • "I've already brought in the top doctors from the Holy Sovereign's Palace. The princess is going to be okay," Simon assured Zachary.
  • While Zachary and Simon were talking, Viviana had been transferred to the inpatient department. After giving Simon a few more instructions, Zachary rushed over.
  • In the hospital room, Carolina was holding Viviana's small, delicate hand, softly sobbing. Viviana's face was as pale as a sheet, and her breathing was faint.
  • But when she saw Zachary, Viviana still managed to smile. "Daddy."
  • That one word melted Zachary's heart completely. A wave of emotions crashed over him—both touched and heartbroken. The only thought in his mind was that he had to save Viviana, no matter what.
  • "Viviana, Daddy's here! With me around, you're going to be just fine," Zachary said, forcing a smile to comfort her.
  • "Daddy, you're amazing. You saved me. You're my superhero. When I return to kindergarten, I will tell all my friends that I have a daddy and am really happy." Viviana's eyelids drooped as she finished speaking, and she fell into a tired sleep.
  • Carolina gently tucked Viviana's little hand back under the blanket, looking at her daughter's small face with a complicated expression. Viviana seemed so close to Zachary, even though they'd just met for the first time.
  • "Carolina, don't worry. I'll make sure Viviana gets better," Zachary said firmly.
  • Carolina paused for a second, looking at Zachary's plain clothes, feeling disappointed.
  • The surgery and follow-up treatments were costly. The doctor had estimated that they'd need at least five million. But looking at Zachary, still dressed as simply as ever, how could he come up with that kind of money?
  • "Alright, you stay here with Viviana. I'll figure out how to get the money for the surgery." Carolina wiped her tears and got up to leave.
  • Before stepping out, she added, "Viviana is my child. You haven't been there for her these past five years and do not need there to stay around now. Viviana likes you a lot right now, but once she's better, you should go."
  • Carolina left the room with a cold expression, but inside, she was filled with uncertainty. She'd done everything she could, even tried taking out high-interest loans. Where could she pot the money now?
  • On the other side, Zachary watched Carolina leave, his mouth opening as if to say something. But the words caught in his throat, unable to come out.
  • He could easily cover Viviana's surgery costs. He could even provide the best medical care and hire the top doctors for her. But how was he supposed to explain all of this to Carolina?
  • Five doctors with an air of authority arrived at the hospital ten minutes later. Four men and one woman headed straight for Viviana's room in the inpatient department.
  • As soon as they saw Zachary, all five bowed in unison. "Greetings, Holy Sovereign."
  • "Not here. Don't call me Holy Sovereign," Zachary said, waving them off and signaling them not to bow.
  • Fortunately, Viviana was already asleep, and no one else was in the room.
  • "Thank you, Holy Sovereign."
  • "Hurry, you're the best there is. Check on my daughter right away," Zachary urged tensely.
  • "Don't worry, Holy Sovereign. We'll start the examination right away. But we need to take the princess to the examination room," the woman among them replied.
  • Zachary nodded. "Get everything ready now!"
  • In less than three minutes, everything was set. Viviana was taken to the examination room, where the four top doctors began their diagnosis.
  • Zachary waited anxiously outside the door.
  • "Viviana, you'll be okay. You have to be."
  • Soon, the five doctors walked out in single file. Zachary quickly stepped forward, his heart pounding. "Well? How is she?"
  • The group exchanged uneasy glances before the woman in the lead hesitantly opened her mouth, clearly hesitant to speak.
  • Zachary's face darkened. "Just tell me the truth!"
  • One of the doctors finally spoke in a low voice, "Holy Sovereign, the tumor in the princess's liver… it wasn't naturally formed."
  • Boom!
  • In an instant, all five doctors felt a terrifying wave of killing intent engulf them! They could only watch as the tiles beneath Zachary's feet cracked, the fractures spreading in all directions.
  • "Good. Very good!" Zachary gritted his teeth, their grinding echoing in the hallway as his murderous intent flooded the room.
  • If it wasn't natural, then it had to be artificial.
  • Who would do such a thing to his daughter?
