Chapter 11 You Have Earned My Respect
- Hamish grinned as he reached out to touch Carolina's face. But before his hand could make contact, Carolina swiftly pulled a pepper spray from her pocket and aimed it directly at his disgusting face. She sprayed it with all her might, then kicked him hard before she bolted.
- "Ouch! My eyes! It burns!" Hamish collapsed to the ground, clutching his eyes and howling in pain.
- The burly men behind him hurried to his side. They were professionals, even carrying jugs of saline in their cars. The leader of the group quickly connected the hose, grabbed Hamish's face, and began rinsing his eyes.
- A few minutes later, Hamish finally regained his composure, but by then, Carolina had vanished without a trace.
- Hamish roared, "Where is that b*tch? What are you all standing around for? Go after her!"
- "Yes, Mr. Atkinson!"
- There was nowhere to hide on this narrow street, so it didn't take long for Carolina to be caught. She was no match for these strong men, who quickly restrained her and brought her before Hamish.
- Hamish, still feeling the sting in his eyes, didn't dare get too close. But his expression was vicious as he snarled, "You filthy wh*re, just wait and see what I do to you! Tie her up tightly!"
- "Hamish, if you dare lay a finger on me, I swear I'll wipe out your entire family!" Carolina screamed, thrashing wildly as she kicked one of the men hard on the foot.
- "Ah! D*mn!" The man collapsed, clutching his foot in agony.
- Seeing this, Hamish became even more hesitant to approach, but his face twisted with rage. "Tie her up now! D*mn it, I'll make your life a living hell, and you'll cry and beg me for forgiveness soon!"
- The men exchanged dark smiles as they pulled out a rope, ready to act.
- Just then, a voice echoed through the alley. "No wonder you're the Holy Sovereign's love, I'm Shadow-Two. Madam, you have earned my respect!"
- Hamish and his men froze, looking around in shock. That was when they noticed a man had suddenly appeared on the otherwise deserted street.
- He was dressed in black, wearing a raven mask. He was bald, but beyond that, nothing else could be discerned.
- "Who—who are you?" Hamish stammered, taking two steps back, his face pale with fear.
- The burly men also looked at each other in disbelief. None of them had seen this man arrive, and they all stood motionless, unsure of what to do.
- While they hesitated, Carolina took the chance to ram her head into the face of the man behind her, then delivered a sharp kick to another man's groin, escaping in an instant.
- Everyone, including Hamish and Shadow-Two, was stunned.
- Shadow-Two couldn't help but admire her again. No wonder she's the Holy Sovereign's love!
- But he wasn't about to let Carolina get hurt. Before anyone could react, he had already attacked.
- Hamish barely registered the man's movement before a black fist came hurtling toward him, the shadowy figure growing larger in his vision.
- "I'm from the Atkinson fam—"
- Wham!
- Before Hamish could finish, he was knocked out cold by a single punch.
- Shadow-Two quickly defeated the men as they dropped to the ground one by one.
- Carolina, now crouching like a panther, was ready to defend herself against Shadow-Two. But he raised his hands and said, "I'm not your enemy." With that, he turned and slowly backed away, disappearing at the end of the street.
- Carolina glanced down at the men on the ground and delivered a brutal kick to Hamish's groin.
- "Aah!"
- Hamish woke up in pain, only to pass out again a second later. Carolina, feeling satisfied, left the deserted alley, hailed a cab, and headed to the hospital to see her daughter. But when she arrived at the hospital, she found her daughter's room empty.
- "She had been transferred? That's impossible!" Carolina stared at the transfer records in disbelief, her beautiful face pale with shock.
- Carolina was stunned when she saw the name of the hospital her daughter had been moved to. "Woodland Hospital? No way!"
- Woodland was no ordinary place! It was a military base!
- Who could have arranged for Viviana to be sent to a military base?
- Could it be Zachary? No, no, it couldn't be him!
- Carolina quickly dismissed the idea.
- From her point of view, Zachary had irresponsibly abandoned her and Viviana five years ago, disappearing without a trace. She had held onto hope for a while, but all that waiting was in vain. Zachary never came back to her
- If Zachary had the power to arrange such a transfer and he was so capable, then why hadn't he come back to see us once in the past five years? Why was he so heartless?
- The more Carolina had loved him back then, the more she hated him now.
- Carolina turned and walked away. She was determined to go to Woodland to find Viviana. She had to see for herself if Zachary was the one who had taken her daughter away.
