Chapter 10 Hamish Atkinson

  • "I've just received a word. Someone ... someone has entered Villa 47 at Polley Residence." Last night, the man Zachary had sent to protect Carolina reported this unsettling news.
  • Zachary's gaze sharpened as he quickly activated his communicator, connecting with the person stationed at the scene.
  • "Explain. What's going on?" Zachary commanded.
  • A voice crackled through the communicator. "Shadow-Three, reporting. Tasked with protecting the owner of A7. Three minutes ago, a male, approximately five feet seven, arrived in a Volvo 795 and entered the villa."
  • Zachary took a deep breath. A man, at this hour ...
  • He tried not to let his mind wander, but it was hard.
  • Five minutes. Ten minutes. Twenty ... An hour later.
  • Zachary casually tossed the communicator to the shadowguard beside him and said, "Withdraw the protection."
  • The shadowguard, whose face was hidden in the darkness, nodded and retreated into the night.
  • Zachary couldn't sleep for the whole night. Today, he learned the devastating news that Carolina planned to abandon Viviana. A storm brewed in his eyes when he thought of that.
  • Zachary watched helplessly as Carolina left the café with that strange man.
  • He couldn't believe it. Carolina would abandon Viviana, the daughter she had raised for four years!
  • Even though Zachary knew that something must have happened to Carolina, she had no choice but to do it.
  • However, abandonment was abandonment! No matter the reason, he could not accept it.
  • Zachary sat back down and took a sip of coffee which turned cold already.
  • It was bitter, just like his mood at this moment.
  • Last night, when he learned that a man had gone to see Carolina, he was hurt, but he had no right to blame her.
  • After all, he had been the one who left for six years, leaving Carolina to struggle alone with their child.
  • But today, Carolina casually handed their child over to him and left with another man.
  • She shouldn't do this as a mother.
  • He had wanted to have a proper conversation with Carolina. After all, she was Viviana's mother. From the way Carolina had acted yesterday, Zachary was sure that she loved Viviana. Donating a part of her liver should have been no problem.
  • But now, things seemed entirely different from what he had imagined.
  • He picked up the bank card on the table as his gaze darkened. "Don't blame me if that's how it is!"
  • Zachary signaled for his men to follow the car, and he left the café with a cold, horrific aura..
  • Meanwhile, Carolina drove for a while before pulling over.
  • She tossed the car keys to Hamish with a cold expression. "Here's your car. I'll pretend last night never happened. Now get lost!"
  • Hamish Atkinson was the youngest son of the Atkinson family and a spoiled and unruly playboy.
  • Last night, when he learned that Carolina was about to marry into the Atkinson family, he had evil thoughts and barged into Carolina's home, attempting to assault her.
  • Carolina had only managed to subdue him with a kitchen knife, tying him up and taping his mouth shut before leaving him in the kitchen.
  • Carolina spent the whole night clutching the knife as she slept.
  • This morning, after receiving Zachary's call, she had already made up her mind to let him take Viviana away. As long as the child was healthy and happy, she was willing to do anything.
  • Carolina didn't know if Zachary still had feelings for her, but to make him give up completely, she needed to pretend that she had a boyfriend.
  • She had threatened Hamish with the knife. Once he agreed to behave, she untied him and took him to the café, provoking Zachary's misunderstanding.
  • Now, Hamish was of no use to her.
  • Carolina glanced at Hamish disdainfully.
  • A foolish playboy who couldn't even handle a frail woman like me. What trouble could he possibly cause?
  • Without another word, Carolina turned to leave.
  • But Hamish didn't get in his car and drive away. Instead, he followed her closely, his eyes roaming over her body while occasionally checking his watch.
  • Carolina's proud demeanor made Hamish grind his teeth in anger. He had already made up his mind. Once Carolina married into the Atkinson family, he would torment her day and night!
  • She's just a worthless wh*re who had a child with another man. If it weren't for her family background, he wouldn't even take her as his mistress!
  • However, Hamish had to admit that Carolina was stunningly beautiful. He had been eyeing her for a long time. It was unlucky for him that she would marry his fool of a brother.
  • Jealousy burned in Hamish as he stared at Carolina's graceful figure, wishing he could pin her to the ground and ravage her right then and there.
  • "Why are you following me?" Carolina stopped and glared at him. "Get lost, or don't blame me for what happens next!"
  • Hamish squinted his eyes while smiling slyly. "And what are you going to do about it? Don't forget who gave you that money. Believe it or not, all it takes is one phone call, and that card will be frozen."
  • "You—you're shameless!" Carolina hissed through gritted teeth, her hands trembling with anger.
  • "Am I? Haha, I'll show you what real shamelessness looks like!" Hamish sneered.
  • At that moment, two cars appeared behind Hamish, and seven or eight burly men emerged.
  • It was then that Carolina realized she had parked in a secluded area. There was a homeless man lying in his tent, watching with interest as the drama unfolded.
  • A wicked smile spread across Hamish's face. "Heh, let's see what you do now, b*tch!"
