• "I don't want the pink gown. Pink is for flamingos," Vera pouted, her lips forming a sulk as she complained to her mom, refusing to wear the dress that had been prepared for her Disney date.
• "No pink? No problem. We’ll just have to find another colour for our little rebel," her mother responded.
• Vera had woken up earlier than usual that morning. The first thing she did after hugging her mom was search for Xavier, as he had promised her. She went over to the door, trying to open it; her little hands couldn’t reach the lock. She hadn’t noticed that Xavier had slept right next to her throughout the night.
