Chapter 5

  • I was awoken by the bright ray of sunshine on my face, and I groaned loudly when I realized I didn't put the curtains down before going to bed.
  • Now that I was awake, I couldn't help but think how my life was over since it was my wedding day. I decided to freshen up and wait for the makeup artist and those involved in getting me ready.
  • The makeup artist had done an amazing job on my face, and even my gown couldn't look more beautiful and stunning, but I couldn't bring myself to be happy, even a tiniest bit.
  • After getting ready, I was left alone in the room.
  • The wedding was taking place at the Reeves family Church and the reception was at the Hill's Hotel, which happens to be one of the biggest hotels, and I didn't expect less since they were all against my idea of having a quiet wedding.
  • My mum and Adeline wanted the best of the best for me.
  • I was interrupted by a soft knock on the door.
  • " Hey munchkin," my brother said, walking into the room with a smile that I was sure made girls melt at his feet.
  • He was dressed in a navy blue suit and a black tie, with his hair gelled backward, making his eyes pop out.
  • " Hey Ric," I said with a low voice as sadness dripped from my voice.
  • " I know you don't want this, but the Reeves are good people, and I know Giovanni is going to take good care of you. Trust me, Roy."
  • " I feel like I'm making the biggest mistake of my life," I said, having my eyes well up in tears.
  • I have been holding them for too long and now I feel like I have reached my breaking point.
  • " You're not making the biggest mistake of your life, that I can assure you."
  • "You're just saying that because you're my brother," I said, rolling my eyes at him.
  • “ I'm saying that because you need to hear the truth. I know the Reeves and I know Giovanni. I'm not really a fan of him, but I trust him when it comes to you and I know he is going to take good care of you munchkin."
  • " How can you be so sure?"
  • " Because he doesn't seem like a bad person and I may or may not have threatened him not to harm you," he said, avoiding eye contact.
  • "Richard!" I yelled accusatory at him.
  • " Why would you do that?" I asked while feigning horror but silently I was happy he did that.
  • Richard can be really scary when he wants to be especially when he threatens someone. I have seen first-hand, how intimidating he can be, that is one of the reasons why I never really had a boyfriend that lasted.
  • He said it with seriousness and sincerity, "You're my little sister and I won't let anyone hurt you."
  • " Yeah yeah, I know," I said, playfully rolling my eyes. " You're the best best brother in the whole world and my only brother," I said playfully with a smirk on my face.
  • "You're lucky, I love you, munchkin," he said, attempting to touch my hair as I slapped his hand away with a glare.
  • “ Don't you dare; you're my brother; of course you have to love me."
  • " Yeah , whatever. Come here," he said, stretching his arms wide, and I didn't waste any time in entering into the comfort of his arms.
  • " Just know you are doing dad and every one of us a huge favour. I hope you know how proud I am of you. I love you Roy, "he said softly and kissed the top of my head.
  • “ I love you too.” I answered with a small smile and squeezed him tighter, which caused him to let out a quiet chuckle.
  • Our sibling bond was interrupted by a knock on the door. When we pulled apart, we saw our dad.
  • "Princess, are you ready?" he aske.
  • "Yes, dad," I answered. I didn't miss the look of admiration in his eyes.
  • I knew I was close to my mother, but I couldn't deny that I was daddy's little girl.
  • " You look very beautiful. My baby girl is all grown up." "He said with a smile, and I could see tears in his eyes."
  • " Dad, are you crying?" I asked with a little panic.
  • " They are tears of joy love. I'm just so happy and grateful. Thank you love for helping me out."
  • And all of a sudden, every anger in me vanished. I knew there was another reason why they were marrying me off and it had nothing to do with the bankruptcy bull crap they told me. I just wished they would trust me enough to tell me what was really going on.
  • " I love you, Dad," I said with a small smile as I hugged him tightly, fighting off the tears. I'm really going to miss my family very much since I won't be able to see them often.
  • " Are you ready?" my mum came in. She was dressed in a blue floor-length gown and, as usual, she looked amazing.
  • " Hey mum." I turned to my mum and I saw tears in her eyes, which made me laugh.
  • Mum was always the emotional one in the family; she literally burst into tears for every little thing.
  • " I'm sorry honey, I'm just so emotional right now," she said, dabbing her eyes lightly not to ruin her makeup.
  • " I know, but I'm getting married, not dying," I said in an amused voice.
  • “Don't mind me. I know, love. You just look so beautiful, dear," she said.
  • " I just can't believe my princess is getting married today."
  • " Come on, mum, you too. Are you going to cry like a baby just like dad did?" I said jokingly.
  • "Hey!. I was only a little bit emotional too, " my dad whined.
  • I hugged my mum then we all gathered together for a group hug before moving out to where our driver was waiting with the car.
  • Vicki gave me a huge smile and a tight hug and whispered a quick "I love you", then she took out her phone to take a picture of me and her, telling me about how stunning I looked before she moved to stand next to my mum.
