Chapter 4

  • After getting home, I went straight up to my room, ignoring anyone's attempt to talk to me, taking off my damn dress (I was angry, so I couldn’t careless about a dress ) and got into an oversize t-shirt and shorts, which I love more.
  • I finally plopped into my bed, remembering everything that had just happened a few hours ago and the fact that I would be getting married three weeks from now.
  • Ugh!
  • Great!
  • just great.
  • There won't be any engagement party according to Adeline due to the fact that my so-called husband is too busy to even have the time, so I was given an engagement ring, which was also a family heirloom passed down from generations. It is huge and very breath-taking and definitely causes millions.
  • My phone rang, snapping me out of my thoughts, not bothering to check who was calling.
  • "What?" I said, and immediately pitied the person at the receiving end.
  • "Whoa whoa, what got your pants in a twist?" my best friend replied, lifting my spirits.
  • “ I'm sorry Vicki, I'm just not in a good mood right now.”
  • " How lame was the dinner. What happened?" she said, turning serious.
  • "Turns out I'm getting married three weeks from now."
  • " Wow, that fast."
  • “ Yeah, it's been decided and I totally wasn't expecting it to be this early." sighing, "as much as I don't want this wedding, I need to think about my family and Adeline seems like a nice person."
  • " Who is Adeline?"
  • "Adeline Reeves, my husband's mom, since he was too busy to show up."
  • " Oh my gosh, are you getting married to Giovanni Reeves?" She asked excitedly.
  • "Yeah", I answered her in a bored tone.
  • Wait a minute... How did she know his name?
  • " How did you know his name?" I asked sceptically. I didn’t remember telling her.
  • "Are you kidding me, who hasn't heard of the Reeves, the almighty Giovanni Reeves?" she exclaimed dramatically.
  • " I won't ask if I knew, would I?" I answered, rolling my eyes at the process.
  • " Where exactly have you been living, Roy? You have been to those fancy dinners your parents go to," she said, talking to me like I was an alien.
  • It is not my fault. I hardly pay attention to anyone at those dinner parties; it's way too boring for my liking and filled with rich, arrogant, snobbish princes and princesses.
  • " Your point exactly is what, Vicki?" I asked with a little bit of sassiness.
  • " The Reeves are one of the richest families in New York, if not the world," she gushed. "And don't get me started with Giovanni Reeves."
  • Holy shit!
  • It all made sense now, why Adeline looked so familiar. I was so stressed out that I didn't even recognize their name.
  • I can't believe my parents are marrying me off to the richest family in our society and I'm only finding out now.
  • Cue the freaked out scream.
  • " Boo, you're so lucky! He is the hottest bachelor on the planet and every girl's dream." I could imagine her drooling.
  • "And yet he didn't even bother showing up. What a douchebag". I said angrily.
  • " A very hot douchebag," she answered.
  • " Who doesn't show up for something as important as this” i rant.
  • " I understand, boo, but God! Is he hot?. Where can I find me a hot Giovanni Reeves?" she said, exaggerating a bit, I think, since I haven't really seen him yet.
  • " You need to stop calling him that." I snapped a little bit.
  • " Absolutely not!. Hot doesn't even begin to describe how good he looks; he is more like a Greek god," she sighed dreamily.
  • I laughed at her craziness.
  • " That reminds me, I am going to send you a pic of my engagement ring right now," I said, turning to my camera as I took a pic of the ring and sent it to her.
  • "Eeeeeee," my best friend screamed, and I laughed at the precision, but also had to move my phone a few meters away from my ear in order not to go deaf.
  • " Is that the Reeves family heirloom, girl?. That ring cost like a ton of money, like tons of millions," she said enthusiastically, wishing I had a little bit of her enthusiasm.
  • " I know, but I can't help but feel like they are all hiding something from me."
  • "What do you mean?"
  • " I don't know, it's just a feeling. I’m sure it's nothing. "
  • “That aside, I know how stressed out you are about this wedding and I'm definitely sure it's taking a toll on you. I just want you to know that I've got you boo. Given how stressful today was, why don't you get some rest? I promise you'll feel slightly better in the morning."
  • " Thank you so much, babe. What would I do without you?" I playfully ask her.
  • " Nothing, not a single thing, babe, now get some rest. I love you".
  • “aww, Victoria.” I answered in a sing-song voice and laughed as I imagined the scowl that I knew was already on her face. I knew how much she hated being called her full name.
  • "I take that back, I completely despise you," she snapped back, and I burst out laughing.
  • I'm so glad I have a best friend like her. She's the only one who gets me.
  • " I love you too," I said, and I knew she understood the meaning behind those four words.
  • " Whatever , get off my phone, Camilla." I cringe at the mention of my middle name.
  • " Touché Vicki, touché."
  • Her laughter was the last thing I heard before I finally hung up.
  • I dropped my phone on the dresser beside my bed, and I was pulled into the wonderland of dreams.
