Chapter 5 Alpha Tyler
- Chapter 5
- I woke up the next day with that certain heavy weight in my chess. The shock in Brandon's face replayed in my mind.
- I fell asleep last night crying, so I felt my eyes sore the moment I woke up.
- Tilting to the side to check the time I found my bag from yesterday on my table.
- Sitting up I reach the table to check the alarm clock to find it's just four o'clock AM.
- I took the bag and noticed Brandon's scent still lingering on it. It is not strong, but it is there mixed with Zach's.
- "Did he bring it here?" my wolf scratching her sleepiness away.
- "Not sure. But maybe not. It has a trace of Zach's" I open the zip and find my necklace and bracelet sitting on my clothes.
- "Yes, I smell him, too." she lazily rested her head on her paws.
- I decide to roll out of bed after wearing my necklace, leaving the bracelet on top of my table.
- It feels heavy to wear it right now.
- And since sleep is not in my system anymore, I decide to go for an early run.
- I got my running shoes after I went to the bathroom and put them on. I go straight downstairs to clean the dirt I left yesterday.
- On the stairs I see right away that it's already clean. I walk continuously to find even the flooring downstairs is already cleaned.
- Mom probably cleaned it last night. With that, I go out right away making sure to not make a noise to not wake my sleeping mom and brothers.
- Good thing my Dad is not around still in an out of town meeting with the Alpha. He has strong senses and I do not have a perfect lie to tell right now.
- But I have to think about knowing my brothers and mother will ask about my strange behavior the chance I sit with them.
- Outside I was met with darkness of the sky and a slight breeze of wind.
- I start by just walking to give time for my body to get used to it and stretch.
- After five minutes, I start to jog trying to ease my nerves and the heaviness that I feel.
- The scenes from yesterday where I see Brandon passionately kissing Steph replaying non stop in my mind.
- No one and nothing prepared me for how devastating it could be seeing the man who you adored from afar your whole life in a heated moment like that.
- The whole time, I know he's been dating. But I only see them hugging, holding hands and constantly flirting with each other. But, I must have prepared myself for something like this.
- Guess, the saying what you don't know won't hurt you is really a thing.
- I try my best to shrug them away in my head. To shrug him away.
- I sprinted out of the forest to run the perimeter we are running on training.
- Running through it I see some patrol warriors along with the first batch of patrol newbies.
- To say they are surprised to see me running is an understatement.
- It could only mean because it's too early.
- Or the fact that I was not around for the training yesterday, and here I am running so early.
- Whatever it is, I shrug it off. I am so used to their non-stop assumptions anyway.
- Running to the borders I see Alpha Tyler on their side territory halting on his run when he sees me.
- He's dripping sweat, making his running track top tighter - he greets "Out for an early run, I see."
- "Morning Tyler." I halt resting my hands on my knees to catch my breath.
- The two patrol warriors approached the both of us.
- "Alpha Tyler from the Crescent Moon." he authoritatively announces himself.
- He turned nineteen a month ago, making him the new alpha.
- "We know, Alpha. How can we of service?" they bow and one of the warriors whose name is
- Warren asked.
- "I just saw the Beta Daughter and I believe the Beta would be disappointed if I do not walk his daughter myself." he straightforwardly says that earned a surprise look all over my face.
- He just grins at me tapping his towel on his forehead.
- "Of course Alpha." they both answer tilting sideways to allow him access.
- "No, it's fine Tyler." I protest remembering to call him by his first name.
- "Good call. You do not want a pissed off Alpha this early" my wolf standing on fours alerted by his presence.
- "I insist." he neared me, raising his right arm leading the way.
- I smiled a bit and nodded, then started walking slowly.
- After three minutes of walking in silence I look at him.
- He really is dead gorgeous like any Alpha would be.
- For years, I've always been so intimidated by him. How could I not be? His aura persists in his Alpha blood.
- Let alone his gorgeous face and the brutality it shows. Plus the notorious playboy charm it holds.
- "It's him, isn't it? He looks at me catching me checking him out.
- "Huh?" I stupidly ask.
- He chuckles softly "Brandon, I mean. He's the reason your eyes are sad and puffy from crying."
- I gasp from his statement. He states it with no doubt.
- "How? No." I lied, averting my gaze.
- "I see you Gem. I see the way you look at him.If you think you can fool others then it isn't working on me." he stopped when he noticed I was frozen in my tracks.
- "How stupid of me, isn't it? I whisper.
- "If anyone is stupid then it's him, Gem." he looks at me with sincerity in his voice and eyes.
- I am taken aback with his statement. If anyone is stupid then it's him. How can he say that as if talking about the current weather?
- Is he blind? Has he seen Brandon and me lately?
- "We can stay here the rest of the day if you wish to skip school." he raised his brows jokingly.
- I jolted and started walking.. He started walking again with me when I neared him.
- "Am I that obvious?" I asked.
- "Of course, clear as water." my wolf tilted her head resting it on her paws.
- He just looked at me and shrugged. "I just notice easily, maybe."
- The sun shines brightly and his face shines brightly with it.
- I didn't notice that we arrived at the entrance of the forest across from our house.
- Brandon's smell travels my nose even before I feel his presence.
- Great! The last person I wanna see is standing outside his jeep with a frown in his face.
- He is staring at us intently as if he wants us to know he is watching.
- I slow down walking not knowing what to do and say. I even didn't think about what to tell him by running yesterday and shutting him out of my mind-ink.
- My brother, Zach walks out of the front door frowning when he sees me.
- Tyler stopped when he noticed I was again left behind.
- He looks at me, raising his one brow in question. I shake my head slowly shrugging his question.
- I jog to go right in front of him and lowly say "just do not mention anything." I plead.
- "You're secret's safe with me, Gem" he whispers in my left ear concealing his view to the two guys that are intently watching us.
- I nod and cross to stop right in front of my brother who is now standing next to Brandon. Their hands tuck in their front pockets.
- "I went for a run." I start even before he says anything.
- Brandon looks at me from head to toe with a lace of annoyance "I see that." he then looks straight to Tyler.
- Both of them went for a staring contest as if weighing the situation.
- After a minute or two Tyler greets him in his Alpha stance "Black." he smirk not leaving his eyes and extended his right hand.
- "Routh" Brandon answers simply and shakes his hand in a firm manner.
- Zach clears his throat and Tyler looks at him and says "Green." and extended his hand at him,
- too.
- "Alpha." Zach bows his head for a moment as an acknowledgement and shakes his hand.
- "I saw Ty--- Alpha Tyler by the borders and offers to walk me home" I say cutting the slight tension I am starting to feel.
- "Thanks Alpha." Zach says simply and looks at me. "We need to head out early, Gem. You go and change we'll wait here. Twenty minutes sounds good?"
- I look at him nervous feeling the gaze Brandon is throwing me. "Uhnm.." I think of a way not ride with them.
- "Why don't you two head out, I will pick up Gemma." Tyler saves me for making a fool of myself.
- "She'll ride with us." Brandon firmly state his eyes showing controlled annoyance at Tyler.
- Really? What's with young Alphas not being able to stand each other?
- "Gem?" Tyler looks at me with a raised brow.
- "Tyler is right. I don't want to keep you. I will ride with him. " still avoiding to look at Brandon.
- With that, I head to the house to prepare leaving the three ranks guys and their tensions.
- Not before I make it to the porch I hear Brandon hissed lowly "Tyler, huh."
- I shrug his side comment and went straight to my bathroom to shower.
- I almost hit my head with my brush after taking an eight minute shower realizing I forgot to ask Tyler what time he'd pick me up.
- "Then start hurrying you little turtle." my wolf howled in my head seeing me in crisis.
- I start apllying consealer like a mad woman especially how he mentioned my eyes earlier. The last thing I need is for the school to pick up that I slept crying last night.
- After exactly fiteen minutes of preparing I make my way downstairs to see a note left by Zach, with his scent still lingering in the air.
- Mom left before I came out of the door earlier. I told her you were still in your room. Lots of talking to do with you sister - Zach
- PS Charlie slept in the pack house last night to finish the second batch of patrol.
- Whoah! What a day! I now do not want the afternoon to arrive.
- Talking about this with Zach is definitely at the bottom of my list. urgh..
- "What will we tell her?" my wolf wiggles her tail.
- "Wanna come out later and talk to him?" I open the fridge and see a milkshake.
- Zach most probably made it earlier to leave some for me.
- I get my tumber and put it in and grab an apple. This will do for the morning.
- I then heard a honk and looked at the clock. Twenty minutes. He arrived exactly after twenty minutes.
- "No, thank you. You deal with your brother. Now get out before the Alpha wolf outs." she says teasingly and shuts down her connection in my head.
- I ran out of the front door after I put my tumbler and apple in my bag.
- "Hey don't run fast. You don't want me thinking you're too excited to see me." Tyler winks going out of his red jeep.
- "They have the same ride." my wolf peaks through my eyes.
- Yes, they definitely do. It's just that his is red, and Brandon's matte black.
- He circles his jeep to open the door for me. I smile at him getting on the seat.
- Who would have thought this dangerous Alpha can be a gentleman.
- He jogs circling back and getting on the driver's.
- One minute out of the road, after we turn the block going to school I decide to talk.
- "Thank you for the ride, Tyler." I find it easy to call his name now. I am now also less tense around him.
- "Don't mention it. Let's just say I do not want you to sit frozen in Black's jeep, seeing how stiff you are around him." he chuckles jokingly.
- I smile not knowing what to say and knowing what he says is true.
- "Still, thanks." with that I rest my head on the seat and just enjoy the amazingly not awkward
- silence.
- He tilts his head to smile at me and turns back to the road.
- Parking at the school parking lot, people instantly watch his jeep arrive. And to say they all look
- so stupidly surprised to see me riding with him is an understatement.
- Now I wish his car was tinted. I mean it's not clear with a shade darker than clear, but you'd definitely see the people inside.
- I averted my gaze on my lap the moment people started staring at me.
- "They are staring." I whisper.
- "So? Let them, Gem. You get used to it. He whispers and unbuckles my seat belt seeing I am not moving.
- Get used to it? What does that mean?
- "I'll open your door, don't sprint out." he jokes and winks ...again.
- What's with him and winking?
- I look up and see Brandon on the hood of his jeep dangerously staring at me.
- His stares are like burning and making a hole in my head. I averted my eyes on my side and
- Tyler opens the door for me.
- I get off still feeling the eyes of everyone on me, even my friends on the side.
- Their eyes are as big as saucers. I feel a tap in my mind-link but I ignore it.
- Tyler looks at me as if he's checking if I am okay and I just smile timidly. I do not want to look ungrateful with everything he did for me this morning.
- "See you around, Gem." he smiles and walks, not giving anyone attention and meets his Beta and Gamma by their car.
- They also hug and the Beta and Gamma nod at me. I nod back, not wanting to look rude and snobbish.
- I made my way inside trying not to look anyone in the eyes and pretended that I was looking for something in my bag on my way.
- I pass by Brandon and avert my eyes right away when I see that he is still staring at me with his jaw squaring.
- Might as well head straight to my Science class and just wait for the class to start.
- I wave my phone to my friends when I reach the first step going to the entrance to signal that I
- will message them.
- Then I make my way and walk straight to the classroom to avoid the awkward feeling I get from being stared at by arriving at school with Tyler.
