Chapter 57

• "Who is it?" Nick, with his arms around my waist, glanced at my phone. It was Eva, trying to persuade me to join her at a university party for the umpteenth time today, a particularly exhausting Friday that I intended to spend lying next to Nick. The whole week with him had been dreamlike, and I had no intention of letting it end.
• We weren't fighting, which was a luxury we needed to take advantage of. We were each other's calm, always knowing how to smooth things over when everything was about to splash in our faces. It was something we were slowly learning, and it was comforting. We were working on being a healthy couple, as much as possible for us.
• We were each other's personal medicine.
