Chapter 5 Carol Discovers His True Identity
- "It's just... I might..." Carol felt a bit embarrassed, hesitatingly saying, "I can't have a relationship with a stranger, so I think we..."
- Jayden frowned. He hadn't expected this.
- Carol hadn't finished speaking, but he interrupted her, saying, "If you're not willing, I won't force you."
- Upon hearing these words, Carol felt a great sense of relief.
- In that case, she didn't need to worry. After all, he seemed like an upright and honorable person who wouldn't go back on his word.
- Jayden stared at Carol, his eyes darkening.
- This woman was quite traditional at heart, but he wasn't insisting on a physical relationship. The most important thing was to find someone to take on the position of Mrs. Lawford.
- Jayden stood up, saying, "You'll sleep here tonight."
- With those words, he opened the door and headed towards Bianca's room. He intended to have a serious conversation with her, wanting to understand what had happened and what she had said to Carol.
- Seeing Jayden leave, Carol breathed a sigh of relief.
- In the study, Jayden sat on a chair, his dark eyes fixed on Bianca, whose head almost drooped to her chest. His stern and deep voice resonated.
- "Stealing documents, marrying on my behalf, getting heavily drunk... Bianca! Is there anything you wouldn't dare to do?"
- "Jayden, I was wrong." Bianca apologized immediately but quickly added, "I was trying to help you!"
- "Help me?" Jayden sneered, his lips curling in mockery.
- Bianca straightened her chest, speaking with conviction, "Hasn't Grandpa always wanted to find a woman for you, trying to control you? Now that you're married, he won't have a chance. Hehe, am I clever or what?"
- Jayden's deep eyes darkened.
- It was just as he had suspected.
- Jayden asked, "What did you say to her?"
- Bianca's cunning eyes flickered as she explained to Jayden how she had deceived Carol.
- However, she didn't dare to reveal her selfish desire for Carol to become her sister-in-law truly. As long as these two people were thrown together, she believed she would succeed sooner or later!
- Bianca smiled and said, "You help her deal with the scumbag, she helps you handle Grandpa. You both get what you want. Once you take control of the company, you can part ways cleanly with no entanglements. There won't be any worries at all!"
- Jayden squinted his eyes. "The driver?"
- "Yeah, Carol is a very upright person. If she knew your true identity, she definitely wouldn't agree to a hasty marriage," Bianca explained.
- She readily agreed to register because Carol thought it was a fake certificate. Otherwise, it would have taken much more time, and Bianca would have had to deceive her best friend.
- Jayden fell silent for a moment.
- No wonder Carol kept insisting that he was a driver. It turns out Bianca didn't inform Carol of his true identity.
- ...
- Carol received an urgent phone call the following day before she woke up.
- A slightly sarcastic voice of a middle-aged woman came through the phone, "Didn't you say you were coming to paint a mural for me? Why haven't you arrived yet?"
- Her scheduled client called!
- Carol woke up immediately and apologized, "I'm sorry. I'll be there in a little while. Please don't worry."
- After reassuring the client, she changed into a new outfit, slung her bag over her shoulder, and headed out.
- In college, Carol took art as her elective. After graduation, for the convenience of taking care of her mother, she became a freelance mural artist. Whenever she received an order, she would travel far and wide to fulfill it.
- This time, Selly intentionally arranged a mural order in Nexoria, under a stranger's identity, to let her come across the situation with David.
- Indeed, Selly was quite cunning!
- Upon reaching the downstairs area, Carol encountered Jayden, dressed sharply in a suit.
- He wore an all-black shirt and trousers, exuding a mysterious and cool aura. The crisp shirt perfectly outlined his handsome shoulder line, and the tailored trousers were sharp and straight, giving off an air of nobility and elegance.
- Jayden's gaze fell on Carol's backpack.
- She took the initiative to explain, "I have some work matters to attend to and need to go out for a while."
- Jayden nodded in acknowledgment without asking further questions.
- Carol was in a hurry, so she didn't say much to Jayden. She quickly opened the door and left.
- At this moment, Jayden's phone in his pocket rang.
- He swiped to answer, and Hugo's voice came through, "Mr. Lawford, Mrs. Thomas wants to have a giant cartoon mural representing the department on the exterior wall of the company."
