Chapter 7 Leave Hensea Immediately

  • Julia was displeased with Carol's family background. She had met Julia once when she was in a relationship with David.
  • During that encounter, Julia had a grim expression on her face, and the meal they shared was not enjoyable.
  • Later, while in the restroom, Carol accidentally overheard Julia telling David to break up with her because she wasn't worthy of him.
  • David reassured her that he would convince his mother to accept their relationship. At that time, Carol was deeply moved and believed that he was a responsible man.
  • But looking back now, it was quite amusing.
  • Julia's expression quickly turned cold upon seeing Carol.
  • She arrogantly lifted her chin and sneered, "Carol, David is about to get engaged to Selly. What are you doing here, pursuing him?"
  • After hearing Julia's words, Carol immediately realized that Julia must have known about David's relationship with Selly. She was just waiting for David to break up with her.
  • She said coldly, "I am not pursuing David."
  • Since David was getting engaged to another woman, she had no reason to dwell on the past, let alone pursue him without any self-respect.
  • "Still denying it!" Julia shouted coldly.
  • They had recently arrived in Nexoria from Dystron, and yet Carol had followed them. 'Wasn't she clinging to David?'
  • Julia cast a disdainful glance at Carol and sneered sharply, "Someone like you, with no family background and burdened with a sick mother, simply isn't worthy of David. Selly is the daughter-in-law I'm satisfied with!"
  • With her arms crossed, she continued, "I advise you to give up. You're nothing more than a woman my son is toying with."
  • Carol's gaze turned cold as she mockingly chuckled, "I hope your son and Selly remain bound together forever, without any children."
  • Selly and Carol were college roommates, and their family backgrounds were similar.
  • She didn't understand how Selly had managed to impress Julia and earn her satisfaction as a daughter-in-law. Perhaps if she had disclosed that her father was Bob to Julia, everything might have been different.
  • However, after the long-standing estrangement with Bob and being away from the Willicks for so many years, she had never considered relying on him, and she wouldn't do so now.
  • Carol always thought that as long as she worked a little harder, Julia would agree to her being with David. But now she realizes that Julia will never agree, no matter the circumstances.
  • Fortunately, she had never told David about Bob.
  • "What nonsense are you talking about?" Julia's face contorted with anger, and her entire body trembled.
  • A fair-skinned hand rested upon Julia's hand as Selly softly said, "Mom, Carol has always been like this. Please don't argue with her."
  • Julia's order was also placed by Selly. She knew that Julia looked down on Carol, so she called her over just to humiliate her.
  • As she expected, Selly slowly curled her lips into a smile.
  • "You're right. Given my status, how can I stoop down to the level of this kind of woman?" Julia sneered lightly.
  • Following that, Julia bluntly ordered with a cold expression, "Carol, leave Hensea now, or I'll call security."
  • Carol couldn't be bothered to deal with her.
  • She took out her phone from her pocket, businesslike as she said, "Mrs. Thomas, you booked a mural order with me a week ago. We signed an online contract. If you breach it, the deposit paid won't be refunded."
  • Carol looked at Julia and calmly asked, "Would you like to pay in cash or transfer?"
  • "You!" Julia's face was full of anger.
  • The price of an entire wall mural isn't cheap. Although she could afford it, being threatened and manipulated by Carol made her, who always held herself in high regard, very displeased.
  • "Mom, since the order has already been placed, finding someone else to do it will take more time. Let's not cancel it," Selly advised.
  • Back then, when they were in university, she had always been jealous of Selly. Clearly, they both came from similar humble backgrounds, but Carol was more knowledgeable, had a better temperament, and received more attention from boys than she did.
  • Now that she had taken David away from Carol, she finally surpassed Carol for once.
  • Allowing Carol to stay and paint—wouldn't that be another way to continue suppressing and humiliating her?
  • Julia frowned and ordered bluntly, "You better paint well. If there's any flaw in the painting, I'll make you compensate!"
  • "Don't worry. I have good skills. I won't disappoint you."
  • After saying that, Carol turned around and left.
  • At that moment, inside a parked Rolls-Royce on the roadside, a man behind the tinted windows furrowed his brows, his expression dark and unpleasant.
  • He had overheard all the arguments between Carol and Julia.
